Polaroid PoGo instant digicam on sale next week, toilet graffiti will never be the same
We still don't have the European or US release dates for the Polaroid Pogo instant digicam but they can't be far behind the February 26th date just announced for Japan. Looks like we might see a price cut too, given the ¥10,000 (about $110) price in Japan compared to the $199 price announced at CES. Of course, you still have to shell out for the ZINK instant photo paper 10-packs scheduled to run for $4.99, or $12.99 for the 30-pack variety. As a camera, it's not much with its 5 megapixel sensor, SDHC storage, weak-sauce LCD, and 0x optical zoom as we discovered during our hands-on. What it lacks in specs, though, is made up for by its novelty. 2-inch by 3-inch photo stickers in 60 seconds? Urban ego tagging just got a brand new playbook.
Also announced is a bevy of forgettable budget shooters, including the 12 megapixel t1235, 12 megapixel i1237 with touchscreen LCD, and 9 megapixel a930. Lady GaGa must be so proud.

Apparently, this is already on sale in Asia. Great concept, but the print quality has room for improvement.
@pocalvin but is the one in asia just a printer? or is it the exact one
@ahchar Camera + "zero-ink" printer in one.
For $110 (should it get relased at anything close to that) this would probably sell,
Its quite a cool concept.
Of all the different things you coul'dve taken instead to demonstrate the concept, you decided to take a picture of his...... er..... tag.....
@Lord Farkward The "film"/"paper" isn't cheap either.
@Lord Farkward I guess they wanted a picture to match the headline.
this reminds me of something but i cant quite put my finger on it.....oh yeah! http://www.wreckom.org/blog/wp-content/pics/polaroid_600.jpg
@leefhead or how about this one (of which I'm a proud owner)? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3261/2597990424_d98a9804e3.jpg
@kirigoe nice! maybe instead of making new cameras that do the same thing, they should make the film for these cameras more available in the market. It would have to be cheaper.
I think the idea is great and will probably sell amongst people who want the instant pics. I want this too but I would definitely pay more if the camera specs and print quality increased.
0x zoom? Is that like a 360 degree FOV lens?
OK ready polaroid? Here is what you should have made...
A small "Flip Mino" sized photo printer, that communicates with ANY digital camera as long as the camera has one of those "WiFi SD Cards" in it. It will connect wirelessly to the small printer which stays clipped on your belt, or in your friends hand, etc... and then you can have your Polaroid moment, without having to buy a stupid all in one and sacrifice your favorite digital camera.
I understand their reasoning for making it into one unit, but they need to be realistic, and it would be way easier to make a cheap , and easy add-on for any digital camera fly of store shelves, then to have people get rid of their existing digital camera just for this mediocre camera.
Thats my free advice, polaroid, take it or leave it.
@emax
And break from tradition? Polaroid cameras are known for instant prints straight from the camera.
Personally, I love the idea and can't want to pick one up.
@emax They have got a printer that connects through with bluetooth or usb/pictbridge It is only £22 on Amazon uk :)
I thought these were already out. I've been seeing stands for them at stores for more than a year now. Is that another version of the Polaroid digital instant print? I would have liked the pictures to be the same size as the original Polaroids at 3.5 x 4.25.
I wonder if there is a effect option to make the colors look like an original Polaroid.
@Jobee That's what i was thinking. They've been available for a long time, and you can even buy the standalone printer for $40 on Amazon. The prints aren't the best quality, but they are dry instantly, have a waxy coating, and they're stickers.
My friend had one of these, they're great, but bloody massiv ;)
he left it on a plane :P
