Engadget for iPhone / iPod touch 2.0.1 now available!
So what are you waiting for? You can download the app right here, or just click the image above -- if you've already got it installed the update should be waiting for you right this second. Full changelog after the break.
Once again, a big thanks to the team at AOL that makes these apps happen: Sun Sachs, Andy Averbuch, Hareesh P, Anibal Rosado, Rajesh Kumar, Rich Foster, Claudeland Louis, Mike Wolstat, Eric Wedge, Vikas B R, Milissa Tarquini, Asha Indira and Bob Gurwin. High fives all around.
P.S.- Updates for the BlackBerry and webOS apps should hit in March, and that's also when we're scheduled to launch our Android app -- stay tuned!
What's New in Version 2.0.1 of the Engadget App:
Landscape Support with bigger fonts!
- Added Landscape support for Article View, Comments View and Sharing.
- Added ability to edit twitter posts.
- Added "+" sign at top right of comments page to anchor down to commenting box so you can be heard right away.

- Edit button in the "More" screen to configure the tab bar to display the tabs used most often.
- In-App Email Share with attached image for Photos in Galleries
- Minor bug fixes.

Old news once again.
I'm a little bummed, I thought this meant it would work on Iphone/ipod touch 2.01... I use an Android phone and an Ipod touch touch still running 2.2.1 because I refuse to give Apple $5 for something they give to the Iphone for free! It's bullshit that Ipod touch owners get shafted because everything is all 3.0 now.
I do understand wanting to take advantage of the newer SDK though, just sucks for me I guess.
so much for that android app we were promised..
friggen apple fanboys
I don't even know why I still read this site.
Thanks! I didn't know it had offline viewing feature, gotta try it out. It's very important to me because I use iPod Touch and I had to use 3rd party crappy RSS reader to cache data and images from this site in order to read them on the train.
Uhm... Android?
Back to the future baby
Does it still do that stupid message about disconnecting from wifi when I put it to sleep? That is super annoying, all 10 of them that I get at once.
@Engadget
Love the update! Have a question though. Is there a reason why the rankings of comments are not shown in the app?
I just wish the app would save its state upon exit.
The new update is great! I would love to see the Read/Source links in posts in the next version (and preferably open in an embedded Safari window).
I really wish the "Podcast" option in the "more" section would include the entire family of Engadget podcasts. As I understand it now, only the Engadget classic podcast is available from that section.
WHO CARES!!!! They can't even make an app for Storm2. I'm tired of this really cool phone not getting any recognition. So here's to you Engadget . . .
Great job on the new features! You guys are great in everything you do! Keep it up.
Any chance of being able to see full headlines instead of having to click through?
sample headline:
"Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Google all resp..."
I know this could be curbed through shorter headline writing, and granted a lot of the headlines are short enough for the two lines, but it can be a little frustrating (at least for me).
What is missing: Live coverage posts. You can't refresh the post or set an auto-refresher.
I think the delay for the Android app would be more acceptable if there was an underlying reason offered as to the delay. Rather low end devs have made apps for Android fairly easily. One would think with the resources available to Engadget/AOL, especially in terms of technical knowledge, it would be easy to get an app together for a Java/Linux based open environment.
Hey Engadget, there's a slight bug in landscape mode. The last line of each article gets cut off by the bar at the bottom. Think you guys can push out a fix fast?
Some nice improvements... but the fact that the headlines are still truncated makes it practically worthless in my opinion. Just let the space allocated for the headlines be variable so that the whole headline fits. Not seeing the whole thing makes skimming article headlines impossible.
What about Android?
@deargoodfriend Thats what i was just saying..no android love.
Hi, Can you please try and make this work with VoiceOver, that would be very hlpful! Thanks
@brown like dookie

WHERES ENGADGET FOR ANDROID???
1 word... ANDROID?
already downloaded
Engadget is one of only seven apps on my 3GS. And probably the best (the new TFLN app may have you guys beat though).
I like the new application. I'm looking forward to the video section on the iphone app to be like the video section on engadget.com. I like being able to catch all of the videos that I skip when reading posts. I wish I could have this same experience on the iphone.
Great, now where is that 1st Engadget App for Android?
why'd they update the iphone app instead of releasing the android app??? wtf?... and what about the pre version? does it get an app too?
@wtgig
*update
Will you be moving away from
flash so we can view other videos on the site??
Also an idea for future updates could be to get rid of the next/previous buttons and replace with a left or right swipe
Still waiting for WinMo version. Even in beta mode would be fine.
What's the Bias Engadget? spread the love
Why isn't there a way to turn off landscape view? I knew I shouldn't have updated.
sweet :)
yaaay
The WebOS version's comment section is broken.
How about something for Maemo, or is everyone just waiting till MeeGo is out?
/me surfs away from this page, since no Droid app YET...
wow...its the 15th...and we're still PROGLESS in android... josh must have a secret vendetta for android..maybe he doesnt want to jeopardize his MCR$FT or APPL checks...come on Topolsky!!
what date can i download the engadget app on android???
yeah, android app is a big thing. come on, we are getting more and more and more users daily, it seems another friend or co worker gets an android phone all the time
Okay, so now where is the Android app you've been promising?
You guys should talk to MSFT about making a zune hd engadget app. I mean, who knows maybe they'll agree to it.
