Elgato Launches EyeTV Netstream DTT: Superb Quality TV For Every Computer on Your Home Network
Easy setup, works great on Macs and PCs, comes with premium TV software
MUNICH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Elgato today announced the new EyeTV Netstream DTT an intelligent network dual TV tuner for DVB-T. EyeTV Netstream DTT streams digital television (DVB-T/Freeview) to all the Macs or PCs on your home network. A dual tuner, EyeTV Netstream DTT enables two people to watch and record different TV programmes at the same time. Setup is easy, thanks to built-in support for Bonjour and UPnP. EyeTV Netstream DTT comes with EyeTV 3, Elgato's award-winning Mac TV software. It also works with Windows 7 Media Center and ships with TerraTec Home Cinema (THC) software for Windows. EyeTV Netstream DTT is available immediately at a price of 249.95 Euro.
Superb quality TV, location-independent
Traditional USB 2.0 DVB-T receivers are susceptible to "dead spots", so reception can never be optimal in every location within a room. EyeTV Netstream DTT solves this problem; as a network device, it does not have to be installed near your computers. Simply locate EyeTV Netstream DTT wherever you have a convenient antenna outlet or sufficient signal strength for the included telescopic antenna. Then connect it to your network router/switch and stream the live signal to the computers in your house. If you have a Wi-Fi network you can watch TV wirelessly on a portable computer, free from cables.
An intelligent device
EyeTV Netstream DTT's auto-discovery feature (via UPnP & Bonjour) simplifies set-up. Tune EyeTV Netstream DTT once, and it stores channel list and serves it out to any Mac or PC on the network. Thanks to its dual tuners, two people can enjoy different TV programmes at the same time. EyeTV Netstream DTT operates seamlessly on multiple computers. The tuners are automatically allocated between computers as needed.
Works great on Macs and PCs
Included is EyeTV 3, Elgato's award-winning TV software for the Mac. Watch, record, edit and enjoy live television on your Mac. Search two weeks of Program Guide listings, and export recordings automatically to iTunes to sync with Apple devices. EyeTV Netstream DTT works with Windows 7 Media Center and also includes THC TV software for Windows, which offers many of the same features as EyeTV 3.
System requirements
EyeTV Netstream DTT requires a Macintosh Computer with an Intel Core CPU and Mac OS X v10.5.8 or newer. On PCs or Netbooks EyeTV Netstream DTT requires Windows 7 and 2.0 GHz Intel/AMD CPU or Intel Atom CPU. Network bandwidth must be high enough to allow for streaming of television signals (100Base-T Ethernet, 802.11n for wireless).
Pricing & Availability
EyeTV Netstream DTT ships today. You can buy direct from Elgato at www.elgato.com or most Mac retailers, including the Apple Store. The price is 249,95 Euro (£229,49 GBP) including VAT.

Doesn't "el gato" mean "the cat?"
@quake35 Yes. It means "The Cat," not "The Gato."
@quake35 It's a joke dude...
@krizoitz Is it? I guess I didn't see the humor...
@quake35 its from SNL, "El Nino is spanish for The Nino."

Make a waterproof version to hang off the antenna mast. No more coax loss bringing the signal into your home.
And no word on when/if this will come stateside.
@ArhcAngel Being that this is freeview its going to have a differant tuner then ATSC which will make it incompatible with US broadcasts and substantually more expensive.
A stateside ATSC model, if made, would be a bit cheaper.
@KAL326
Yes it is indeed cheaper.

The literally joke made me think of Dave Barry. I need to reread some of those old columns. So funny.
So this is a more expensive, prettier, less open HDHomeRun?
How is this different than the Silicondust HDHomeRun for only $150
@mjwedeking Exactly - I've already got an HDHomerun that does everything mentioned above.
One clue might be that EyeTV abruptly stopped selling the Homerun on their site last year - guess we know why now!
@mjwedeking From what I can tell the SiliconDust model works in America, unlike this one.
I mean would it hurt them to say DVB-T or ATSC in the blurb?
@RandomGuy They do have one for Europe, Australia, and New Zealand http://www.silicondust.com/products/hdhomerun_dvbt I am wondering if this is a Homerun in a different package, another joint venture.
This all well and good if you live in Europe, but here in the states it pretty useless. I suppose if probably work with unscrambled digital cable, but I doubt it would pick anything but the QAM stations.
Depending on how they price it, I'm up for the north american version when it comes out. Jobs is a fool for not spending the pocket change it would take to buy this company.
I want to like Elgatos products, but they price them so high it's difficult. At this price I could buy a standalone dual tuner DVB recorder and a slingbox and still have change - not quite the same feature set but you get the idea.
Now if it had a hard drive built in, series recording etc then it would be a different story...
omg, lol. The Fall Guy.
Awesomeness.
@manIK This thing better play Walker, Texas Ranger or it's dead to me
@KnoxHarrington If Elgato can't make it over the fence I think you're screwed.
har-har.
I hope Elgato addresses their performance issues, as EyeTV has had a lot of stutter issues for me recording the Olympics off of WVIT-DT on a tricked out Macbook (4GB of ram, 640GB WD hard drive) with a very strong signal.
I purchased one of these after reading about it on here. It doesnt work and I have contacted their support to ask for a refund 7 times since last week, They initially answered my emails but then stopped responding. I now have a £250 euro box of tricks that wont work. Because they are in Germany I am powerless to take any action to recover my funds. Do not buy one of these unless it is through a UK retailer so that you can have someone to complain to if it doesnt work for you like it doesnt for me!
