NVTouch Surface Computer gets you into the multitouch table game for a scant $70k
Want to get all multitouchy with a large-screened table without buying into the Microsoft Surface ecosystem? Are you independently wealthy and a bit of a bring-your-own-x nerd type? Oh, good. The folks at NVision Solutions and Intuilab have teamed up to build the "durable" rear projection NVTouch Surface Computer, which retails for around $70,000. The unit is built around off-the-shelf components like a projector, desktop PC and standard video card, and can be upgraded and customized by NVision or the buyer. Obviously this is centered around commercial applications where buyers are going to be building highly custom apps, but Intuilab has some pretty great concept apps already built for the table as a bit of a jumping off point.

No way!
@tristansq
at 70K yes way... there are DIY alternatives to this with a USB webcam as the multitouch sensor.
but can you play Crysis on it?
But can it play D&D?!?!?!!!!!!
But can you play DDR on it?
I appreciate that some one at Engadget is still posting at 3:24 in the morning (eastern std), I need my gadget fix dammit!
@wsh03370
Damn right, im at work and there is nothing better to do.
DIY big-ass-table.
Wow, $70k?
Those components can't cost more than 2-3k, maybe i should get into this Surface PC business.
@(Unverified) thought so too... off-the-shelf components for 70k? I hope u need some help running your Surface PC business :)
It's funny how when R.U.S.E was previewed, the multi-touch surface the testers were playing on cost only $50k. Huh... that was last year.
Good to see the recession not affecting the wildly unmanageable prices of excess consumption.
IntelliTouch Digital Solutions can build one with off the self componets (which we have in stock) for under $25,000...
70k is ridiculous...
you can build a 80*100cm multitouch table with modded ps3 cam, short throw projector and dsi PLUS object recognition with rfid for 1000€ (1300$). add 1k for a fast pc and you are somewhere around 2k in total...
we built one as a proof of concept for a project at university.

I'm happy! As a billionaire myself I often run out of things to buy. This looks great.
What? Has anyone even heard of NUI? Touchlib? Come on people. I built my own freaking touchscreen for absolutely nothing. I would never pay $70K for something I could build myself.
meh son enough they will just throw it in to the functionality of the video cards like the dedicated physics processor. lol dedicated physics processor.
How is this news? They're charging $70k to do this? the microsoft SURFACE doesn't cost this (WITH THE PROGRAMMER INCLUDED TO DO YOUR APP!)
Please this is more like news. There's this company in williamsburg that will do it for a couple of grand. AND YOU CAN STAND ON THE TABLE!
