HTC Supersonic (or Incredible) spotted on video?
It's impossible to say with certainty what we're looking at here, but by all appearances, this is likely the first time most of you (and all of us) have seen HTC's so-called Supersonic on video. As a refresher, this is the phone rumored to be rocking Android, WiMAX, and pretty much every other spec line item you could possibly want for a date with destiny on Sprint later this year -- and while you can't make out much from the 40-second video, you can clearly make out the red earpiece grill we've seen in past pictures, suggesting that this isn't the similarly-equipped Incredible we've heard of for Verizon. Anyhow, care to get dinner and a movie sometime this Summer, Supersonic? Follow the break for the full video.
Update: ...and that was quick! Video's been pulled, but if it's any consolation, there's not much more to it than the screen grab above. We'll leave the video after the break just in case it comes back online.
Update 2: New video posted after the break! Yay! Also, commenters have astutely noted that there appears to be some sort of nav pad at the bottom of the phone, something the Supersonic lacks -- so perhaps this is the Incredible after all, or a third Android superphone out of HTC. Clearly, we're not complaining if that's the case.

this video has been removed by the user....
@creepin I just finished watching it - it's still there, and this thing looks awesome.
@creepin Anyway, the video has been removed by the user now, I guess we'll just need to wait a bit longer. As for the supersonic, The device will be similar to the HTC HD2 and equipped with 4.3-inch display and fast processor (that still remains unknown) integrated into a really thin body. The HTC Supersonic will be running Android 2.1 and HTC Sense interface. Although rumors suggest it will run the 3.0? More: http://bit.ly/htc-supersonic-spotted
@cherrycampman I would bet money on a snapdragon, but depending on when this thing actually comes out, it could have the new tegra and that would be NICE
Aaand it's gone from Youtube...
@RoyFokker Here is a muchbetter vid of the Incredible which looks a lot like the phone in the pick above but no red earpice.

Video got removed :(

Palm should make a 4G WebOS device, a little bigger pre but with no keyboard, 5mp camera, and a snapdragon beast inside
is that too much to ask for?
@Rinum009
Yes because this article has nothing to do with the Pre.
@Rinum009 I second that!!!!!! but if palm doesnt come through i will be switching to android w/the supersonic if sprint indeed gets it!!!!! hope palm is reading this
@jflo86
yeah thats exactly how I feel I have a pre right now and loving it but I can upgrade every year (cause I have the best f*ucking carrier) and if palm doesn't release a new device I will be jumping ship to a (4G) Android

palm is developing a new handset for summer, they aren't in a position to NOT come out with new hardware this summer.
@badjokes already said this below but I know someone and they have confirmed that the new device is gonna have an updated omap 3 capable of 1ghz (most definitely clocked down im guessing) like the snapdragon and sadly not the omap 4. Don't know why :/
@badjokes well thats news to me!!! i really want to stay with web os i like it better then adroid am not a heavy heavy app user...but the supersonic is to tempting so palm needs to hurry up!!!! lol hope joe is reading this...
@jflo86
Here in Yourope this will be the HTC Desire , and will hit the shelves by the end of march, trouble is that SE X10 will appear in the same days and I just can't decide wich one of these two is gonna replace my old trusty Hero.
I'll probably go for this HTC Desire though: SE have a long tradition of screwing up even the most promising projects and I'll be surprised if the X10 will be the exception to this time honored rule.
And there goes Palm's chances
-A desperate Pre user.
@RockNStuff i think palm has a chance
@emopoops I hope so too. This would probably be the type of thing I'd leave my pre for though.
@RockNStuff Palm is coming out with a device that will have an updated omap 3 processor. It'll produce the same power, if not more than the snapdragon everyone is creaming their pants about. Sadly it's not omap 4 but considering palm jumped on the omap 3 pretty early for the pre it's safe to say they won't rule it out
@jstunna21 While that sounds pretty nice and all, what is your source?
@jstunna21
I'm still praying for an OMAP4 WebOS Tablet. That would be definitely be pant creaming worthy.
@RockNStuff of course! the pre is rediculous looking! the os is really developing though!
@RockNStuff family member works for TI
@jstunna21
The rapper?
Cause he let's everyone have whatever they like...
If you were lucky enough to see this video before it got removed, it is clear that this phone IS the Incredible, but with a red earpiece. It is clear it has an optical trackpad, something the Supersonic doesn't have. All this discussion is here: http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/
@kmoore11
Sorry I wasn't lucky enough to see the phone. I guess I can't join your dicussion.
@kmoore11
Yay for the incredible. And for those who care, the Incredible will also be sporting a camera with greater resolution than 5 MP.
@kmoore11
actually if you set the settings to 720 p you can begin to make out what are solid physical buttons... try it
@jrei14mecom
stop it at 12 seconds at 720 p and you can se this on the back button and the button to the right of it
@kmoore11
Its probably the European version.
I will never understand this ridiculous craze over the undercooked android...
@Howell
Something called features that iPhone doesn't have
That Android has
WebOS Has
Windows Phone 7 has
Maemo Has
Oh, and the OS is open source and not limited by Google on it's app store like alternative browsers and music apps.
@Howell You obviously have not touched an android device since 1.5. Yes it may have been undercooked back then but now it is welldone with updates popping out of the oven regularly. I'm not sure what kind of phone you use but I am sure that android will probably update it's OS twice more before your phones OS gets it's next update.
hopefully the supersonic pictured is final and so ready for release sooner rather than later.
Also, video can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUUgc6ikOhE&feature=player_embedded
@kmoore11
Nice find. Engadget needs to update this :D
@kmoore11
I know kmoore11 knows this, but to everyone else, the phone in the video is clearly the Incredible.
Removed? Just watched it. Nothing exciting honestly. Big ol' screen though.
This is the incredible, not the supersonic.
thats the INCREDIBLE
am super freakin excited!!!!! being a sprint user the blocked out the carrier with that stupid lil sticker damnit!!!!! if sprint gets this it will be the best phone they have ever had!!!!
@jflo86
There's good reason to be excited about the supersonic, but this is the Incredible
Meh....
Show me something with hardware-accelerated flash support and uncompromised battery life i.e. a Tegra 2 phone.
Video still worked for me, on my iPhone thru the engadget app...
False this is the Supersonic. The red ear piece gives it away. I want to point out that we have seen the production version of the Incredible http://ardroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/HTC-Incredible-Verizon-Android-3.jpg it clearly has a black speaker. We have not yet seen the production version of the Supesonic. Who says it hasnt gained a track pad? Most of HTC;s devices have these so it wouldnt be surprising for the phone to gain one considering it isnt to be released for a few more months.
But it is not the incredible. Whatever it is it is not that, the screen is huge
@jrei14mecom
Go find an optical trackpad on your supersonic.....the only difference between the phone in the two videos is the red colored earpiece....there's no way that could've possibly changed. Also look at the space from where the screen ends to the edge of the device. The device in the video has a wider gap than that of the Supersonic pictures that have been seen.
@woodraskam
yet again, we have seen the production version of the Incredible but not anything substantila from the Supersonic besides grainy photos. The incredible does not mathc the red earpiece. That is the only thing we have to match the supersonic on that right now and thats the major thing that rules out the incredible
@jrei14mecom
I think it's just as likely that it could be the Incredible with a red speaker. In fact, I think it's MORE likely that HTC just added a red speaker to the Incredible instead of adding non-circular buttons AND a trackpad to the Supersonic. Still, there's no way for us to know for sure because whatever it is, it seems to be a hybrid between the two.
Whatever it is though, it's gigantic! I really hope it's the Supersonic actually. I'm a very anxious Sprint Hero user who desperately needs to hear about an actual worthwhile Android upgrade for Sprint... AT&T aside, us Sprint users are beginning to feel a little small in this world filled with big, buff Androids...
@sfox8
it does seem like a hybrid. The link posted earlier from android forums clearly shows the incredible with a black speaker sorry. Yet the rocker and whatnot seem incredible. The screen sef seems supersonic. Yet again, we ahve seen a production cersion of the incredible not the supersonic. If you could only see the back of the phone it would give it away hahaha
