Samsung's first Full HD 3D TV now available in the US, all 55 inches of it
Hope you're ready to see the make believe world in a new dimension 'cause Samsung's first Full HD 3D set is now shipping Stateside. Amazon shows a pair of 55-inch UN55C7000 TVs with 3D 240Hz motion technology in stock with a $3,299.99 price tag and free delivery. Yeah, that's a day earlier than expected but we doubt anyone's complaining. Remember, you'll still have to drop another $150 or so on the shutter glasses if you ever plan to flip the switch from 2D to 3D mode; something you might want to do when actual 3D content starts to arrive.
Update: Looks like Sears is shipping now as well, including the 46-inch UN46C7000 little brother for $2,600.

Samsung UN55C7000
$3000 for a gimmick? No thanks.
@ratchetnclank
Gimmick?
Your negativity is starting to stink up the place. Don't buy my friend. I will be.
@frederick52785 - how is 3D on a 55" screen not a gimmick? The fact that you'll constantly see the edges of the 3D image destroys the effect.
Also, wearing goofy glasses for a casual movie in the evening? Aaaaawesome, right?
@ratchetnclank
Checked it out at CES and again recently at a Sony Style store and I must admit it's not too shabby. The glasses thing sort of sucks, but then again 75% of my friends and 99% of people who think they are cooler than everyone wear sunglasses indoors and at night anyway so what's the big deal? Slap any name brand sunglasses company logo on them and then people would stop complaining (and you know it will happen in the coming months). But, like anything new it's better to just wait for more support and you know for sure that next year's models (when we'll likely start to see more movie support and HOPEFULLY game support for PS3) will be even better for about the same price. For Samsung, all they have to do is guarantee me that their 2D picture quality matches and/or beats the picture quality of their UN55B8500 and I'm in.
@ratchetnclank
It does seem awfully expensive. It would be cheaper to buy two TVs and then cross my eyes!
@NewL
People these like to pretend being self-conscious, but in reality they hardly are. To wit, they aren't afraid of looking goofy when watch all that drivel on the television. In comparison, goofy glasses shouldn't be too much of an image problem to the folks who're enjoying half-time Doritos commercials and stuff.
@Biopsidy
How in the name of Christ did you check out a Samsung TV at a Sonystyle store?
Sony switched to using panels from Sharp now
Sears has the 46 inch available for delivery now for 2599.99
First? That's weird. Could've sworn their DLPs were 3D capable for a few years now. Damn nice sets, shame they stopped production.
@scooterbaga We have a 56 DLP, and there are times when watching it that the screen pops so much that it gives depth, especially on HD shows.
My plasma doesn't do that by any stretch of the imagination, so I actually prefer the DLP for watching HD stuff.
@Showbiz You should try the 3D mode with some actual 3D input... I just hope the PS3 3D winds up working here.
Oh yes!
The gallses are a big problem. Especially when 3D hits Windows. I have this vision of all PC users wearing glasses whenever they want to see 3D on their PCs. It's enough to give ya nightmares.
There is a good thread over at the AV forums about the new samsungs.

Everyone is keeping an eye out for the first reviews, and some are starting to come in.
I actually don't give a crap about 3d, and don't plan on buying glasses, but some of the first looks at the TV are actually liking the built in 2d-to-3d conversion that the TV can do on normal programming.
Also remember that awesome LCD remote they showed with the 9000 series can be bought separately and used with the 7000 and 8000 series.
The price is not that bad. I still can't afford it but I was expecting over $5000
isn't $3500 what vizio promised to sell their 73" 3D, wifi enabled, mega TV's for this year? I have to wait and see what they launch those big boys for before i go diving in.
@SpongeBobPistolPants dogh, just realized this was LED and vizio was talking LCD. scratch that

Is there any possiblity that wearing the 3D glasses required for this television outside would cause irreversible eye damage? Because that would be funny.
This may be the biggest lie in a long time. All of the TV manufacturers kept saying its going to be just a small premium to pay for 3, like it was for 120hz or 1080p (extra $200.00 per set). And here we are. The first 3D TV and it costs double. Considering one can get a 55" LCD/LED anywhere from 1,500 to 1,800, then how is 3,300 a marginal increase. That is double the price. I know it is a novelty, etc, but come on, this will have to drop quick before it becomes mainstream. BS.
@zoran123
Well, the starting price for 55" also used to be ~$3K. If you check Samsung's 55" edge-lit 120Hz LED at Best Buy, they're selling it at $2,000 at "saving" over $1,500 over the initial MSRP.
This 3D thing has merely allowed the manufacturers to restore the price floor back to ~$3K after it was eroded by all this deep discounting over the last year.
@zoran123
Not only that, but you get the added joy of spending $150 on each pair of glasses for your family! Isn't this 3D push great!?
@zoran123
Can't believe you are complaining about the cost. The starting MSRP is hundreds less than last years starting MSRP (there goes your comment about paying more for 3d), and only idiots (and extreme early adopters) pay MSRP, like when they shop at Bestbuy.
These will be selling for a lot less than MSRP in a month or 2 once availability goes up to normal. And Vanns.com has their preorder less than Amazon's price already.
How are retailers supposed to sell these sets? Hand out 3D glasses to every customer who walks down the TV isle?
Yes to 3d. No to 3d glasses.
No thanks, I'll buy a 65 inch DLP TV off craigslist for 900 bucks that can also do 3D.
My Samsung 61" 3D ready LED DLP was $1,500.00. :-D I watched them take it out of the box and waited till they set it up before finding out it was there last one. "I'll take it." half off for waiting 10 minutes. I don't understand all the negativity towards the glasses. They don't bother me that much. It's more bothering that I'm still waiting for the screen upgrade Samsung said would project 3D, not to need glasses...
@Icedassault
There = Their for all you English majors.
There is not $3,300 worth of anything I want to watch, regardless of the screen size and/or quality.
Samsung, why don't you just have European designers design super sleek 3d glasses. It seems although they like the new 3d technology but they fear looking goofy with that glasses.

I don't understand how you call this the first 3D TV by samsung. I have the Samsung HLT-5676S. I bought it years ago, and it's 3D-ready. They have also had a 720p plasma out for years that is 3D-ready.
Is the "3D-Ready" in recent DLP sets the exact same the 3D HDMI 1.4 Blu-ray of newer HDTVs. I've read that the DLP "3D-Ready" is with certain graphics cards, etc.
We'll see what Mits announces this year regarding DLP Rear Projection.
ordered, repped! :)
oh wait, TRANSACTION FAILED
$3,299?!
...and I was planning on getting a C9000...:(
hope one day these become affordable I cant wait to play my ps3 with the new motion capabilities and 3d :-)
Yea, that's not actually in stock. I called today to see if it actually was, and the rep flat out said that it's not in stock, not shipping, and they don't have a date when it will be yet. I called around to some of our much more reliable sources, and it will be shipping right around April 1st (hopefully not a bad April fool's joke on Samsung's part).
"Update: Looks like Sears is shipping now as well"
Really? Did no one actually click the "Check Availability" link?
@toolman Best Buy has them on their website as well. All of the 3Dstuff, including the Samsung C series televisions and the Sony nx800 show an in stock date of 3-14. Expect these to show up at Magnolia stores right before then. I went to CES and the Panasonic V series impressed me the most, but im a plasma guy anyways.
Thank you
