If you throw away your console, the terrorists have won
In one of those fun, yet uncomfortable, instances where real life and video games interact, Fox News has uncovered a dusty (and old, very old) PlayStation controller during a raid of an Afghanistani farmhouse, which doubled up as a munitions depository. Lying there, in among rockets, grenades, plastic explosives and tank shells, was this humble blue-hued PlayStation appendage, which we're told can be rewired to act as a remote detonator. Should you question just how seriously the US government is taking this growing tide of console-aided terrorism, below you'll find a press release (seriously, a state-issued press release) detailing the detainment of four men in connection with the illegal transportation of digital cameras and PlayStation 2s to a "terrorist entity" in Paraguay. If convicted of the most egregious charge, they face 20 years in prison... for contraband consoles. Face, meet palm.

George Carlin would have a field day with this news :)

May he rest in peace
You may also use doorbells.
I would hazard a guess that most things with at least one button can be rewired to act as a remote detonator.
So this is Microsoft's reason for Project Natal?
To prevent controllers going to terrorists?
@Meekermoloko Couldn't the Natal be used as a motion sensor?
@zero1221
Ah-ha ... we caught you and your diabolical ways.
Okay, feds hiding on the internet, he's right here.
Now, swarm ... swarm !!
It Only Does Everything indeed !!
I wonder what a 360 would do.
Thats an original PlayStation Controller too. No Analog sticks or dualshock. I still have two of them in the original Grey colour for my PS one.
Wait... does that mean if I put mine up on Ebay, and in some "Bizarre coincidence"(it could happen), sell them to terrorists, I could get arrested for aiding a terrorist organization.
Crap!............*Burns incriminating recipt*
@Rapt0r
That was funny and yet so true lol.
Um, that's a wired controller. Wouldn't that be a bad idea for a remote detonator?
Those are the same Nomex gloves I wore during my stint in the sand box. Outstanding gloves no less.
To me this ranks up there with the white Toyota trucks that you see supporting evil doers. You always seem to see renegades and gun runners in these. Is that Toyota's fault? Nay. Technology, no matter what it is, will play a role in some bad guy's evil scheme.
What total balls, any switch can be wired to act as a detonator even a light switch.
We were all told that PS2s were powerful enough to act as missile controllers years ago, yet no missiles came raining down from terrorists. Does Engadget really need to spout this terrorist crap why not add coloured alerts at the top of the page ?
Hahaha! ........it only does....EVERYTHING!!!
Reminds me of how I always shudder at the insanity when I see the EULA in things were they mention you cannot export it to blacklisted countries and it's some game or media player or something, the insanity never stops.
I mean, If my console was THAT dusty...... i would understand Sony rejecting my warranty repair......... but it wasnt..... i hope the US government force recalls the PS3 because of its possible use by terrorists
/rant
talk about cod addicts
If this is really enough of a threat that they're having to file official reports on it, why are you calling it a facepalm? Real people are getting killed, and whether that be 2 or 3 or 200 it's still absolutely no laughing matter.
Sorry to say ... this is old. Fox Report doesn't use this graphics package anymore. It's not new.
