Rejoice: PS3s across the land are now once again playable. That's the word according to our friends at
Joystiq, who say that the
clock issue affecting "fat" PS3s has been somehow resolved and games are once again working correctly. We're not sure if this means Sony's fixed something on the network side or if the internal clock just ran past a certain time, but at least our long nightmare is seemingly over. Hit up Joy for a quick Q/A on the whole situation, including a way to potentially save lost trophy data.
@JBaker
I was thinking the same thing.
I can put down the baseball bat. My PS3 lives to see another day. Glad I finished Heavy Rain before that whole mess:)
This is very exciting
looks like i wont be playing Dreamcast tonight.
Randomest outage this year
@mtnDewFTW ya man....
You guys are so racist towards PS3's how dare you call my PS3 fat!
@farice
didn't know fat was a race?
on second thought, that might just be an american thing.
@farice That's not racist, it's just politically incorrect ;-)
@meepmeep Thank you meepmeep you saw what i was going for I just didnt want to say American directly.
@farice Hey, my PS3 isn't fat... it's just big boned!
@meepmeep
Yeah, look at all those fat Americans win the most medals in this year's Olympics.
Thank you meepmeep you saw what i was going for I just didnt want to say American directly.
Jog on!
PS3 BACK BABY! and what did Sony do... f*** all, they just waited for the clock to reset.. lost all faith in them..
SONY + SEGA = FUN IN THE SUN
Sadly, yesterday was my day off and I couldn't continue my adventures through Rapture. I'll be bitter about this one for the rest of the day :P
yes im very happy to be playing all my games online... but im not to happy that my some of my trophies are missing and that some of my movies are now corrupt and will not play >.
@Sieg its not fixed yet you should have waited until sony said everthing ok
@oawalker
oh i understand that... i just wish i would have been told this sooner :*(
No, my precious trophies! My PRECIOUS!!!!!
Funny that it's now just past midnight GMT. I used to work for a Japanese company that had software engineers who couldn't figure out time zone settings and required that you set your windows clocks to GMT in order for the software to work right. Silly Japan...
It's fixed... sadly... MW2 is not... damn game is broken! So many freakin cheap things in it! GOD DAMN IT INFINITY WARD FIX YOUR SHITTY GAME!
I read that if you set your date to 2/28/2010 and time to 11:59:59 then it works. I did it and it worked. I was playing Assassin's Creed II on the weekend and the system was fine. I don't even have it connected to the internet. But this morning I couldn't get it to work. But after doing the above it worked now. I will attempt to "fix" it by syncing it to the network.
You have to have Internet to play a ps3 game? WTF?
SONY ALWAYS FIXES THEIR BUGS OUT. Now I can continue kicking some ass on Resistance.
How to deal with the PS3 problem. I found it quite funny:

This has been a fun day!
Damn now I have to look up another brand name to kick around o wait there is still the pspgo hahahahaha cry cry cry cry cry cry
I'm glad I managed to avoid all of this by simply having showed up really late to the party with the PS3 Slim
Say, am I the only one who hasn't had any problems these days what-so-ever?
I haven't really used the PSN network since september so is it possible I missed an update or so which caused the problem?
I missed my fatty!!!
PS3 Fat, I love you again.
Everything is NOT peachy. On Sunday I started playing before teh outage, so I was able to play for several hours after the connection to PSN was lost. I lost all teh AC2 trophies I earned during that time...
Sony... WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank god!!! Another day and I may have just bought a second PS3... Or... was that the plan all along???
I knew Sony wouldn't let us down.
Ha! Xbox fans, die in disappointment.
A few people mentioned a leapyear.... 2010 isn't a a leapyear.
Neither was last year, but we didn't have these problems then.... What's going on Sony?!
WAYNE "GAME ON!" GARTH "GAME ON!!" I'm back in business baby.
I can't help but think this was something like the Zune outage that one time. It happened on what would be called Feb. 29 on any leapyear, but because it wasn't a leapyear, and said Mar. 1, maybe some kind of server system mismatch was happening.
