State-of-the-Art Technology from NVIDIA® 3D Vision™
Both new Acer projectors – the Acer H5360 and Acer X1261 – deliver an incredibly realistic 3D viewing experience when combined with NVIDIA® 3D Vision™ technology, which transforms traditional 2D images into stunning 3D. NVIDIA ® 3D Vision™ is a combination of an NVIDIA 3D Vision compatible computer and graphics card, and 3D Vision Kit that includes wireless active-shutter glasses and advanced software that can transform hundreds of PC games into an exceptional 3D experience. The lightweight glasses, which can be worn over regular eyeglasses, can provide up to 40 hours of 3D entertainment on a single charge. Projectors Have First-Rate Features for Improved Visual Experience at Home
Both new projectors display images with more natural and balanced shades, and truly lifelike tones, thanks to Acer ColorBoost II+ featuring an optimized 3X color wheel design, a powerful image processor and an advanced lamp waveform to improve color performance. Further contributing to the enhanced images, the ColorSafe and DLP® technology ensure picture integrity even with prolonged use, making the projectors virtually immune to color decay. The visuals are complemented by ample audio with an internal speaker on the new projectors with 2-watt output. External speakers can be connected.
Up to 4000 hours of lamp life on the two new Acer projectors reduces lamp replacement costs and ensures long-term dependable projector use.(3) The extended lifespan and consistent image quality lower the total cost of ownership and translate to big savings. Further savings are ensured by the innovative DLP chip, enabling a filter-free design for lower maintenance and operating costs.
Designed to be used in a variety of locations, the new projectors will deliver superior visuals at home, the office or in a classroom. Thanks to the innovative wall-color compensation capabilities, the projectors display clearly even on colored surfaces, so they do not need to be used with a screen. Acer projectors correct vertical distortions of up to 40°, so the audience sees a rectangular image rather than one with a wider top/bottom, even if the projector is placed above or below the screen. Plus, both models can be ceiling mounted and used with the included remote control. Customers can easily change the lamp module even when the projector is ceiling-mounted thanks to the Acer Top-loading Lamp design.
Easy-to-Use and Eco-Friendly
To improve ease-of-use, Acer projectors are equipped with Empowering Technology, a suite of tools designed to simplify access to simple setup, viewing and timer utilities, making customers more productive. The Acer eView Management capabilities let customers quickly and easily adjust the projector settings to suit any environment and any type of content. Eight factory or user-defined presets instantly configure color, brightness and contrast to deliver best-quality images.
The new Acer projectors employ an environmentally friendly management solution – Acer EcoProjection – which reduces standby power consumption by up to 50 percent after five minutes of being idle. Additionally, it delivers 20 percent additional power savings and automatically performs a safety shutdown if it does not receive input after a time interval that can be set by the customer. Also included in the Acer EcoProjection suite is Acer ePower Management, a tool that lets customers create customized power-saving configurations.
The new Acer H5360 and Acer X1261 video-projectors are backed with a one year warranty on the DLP chip and 90 day warranty on the lamp.
And the award goes to Acer - congrats on producing the UGLIEST and unwieldy remote control ever.
@Heliosphan You ought to see the remote for my NEC XG-750.
$699 for a 1280x720 3D capable projector?! Awesome. Where I am $999 will get you a 800x600.
thats a pretty aright price for something with those specs
Optoma's HD66 was released at the same price point (with a higher contrast ratio) to rave reviews months ago.
There are a rang of 1080p projectors at the $999 price point. I'd rather spend the extra cash on one of those.
@Joao These are 3d so its actually a great price .
@majortom1981
I don't disagree with you. I'm just going to wait to see how 3D pans out before making the purchase. And also on the Optoma I hear that you can't turn on 120hz when you are not in 3D mode. Keeping it in 3D mode while not viewing 3D dramatically reduces the brightness of the screen.
So the advantages aren't there yet for me. But yes...it is a great price point.
@Joao
The Optoma has issues with Nvidia 3D kit... It's also a 16x10 (1280x800) and there are some issues with it playing other resolutions... And as pointed about before if you send a 120hz it goes into 3D mode... Over at AVSFORUM several people have gotten the Acer ( been available over seas for a couple of months)...
The big question is if it works with 3d Blu-ray.... (3d Blu-ray uses HDMI 1.4 and most of the projectors/screen out are HDMI 1.3)
Not rushing out to replace my HD20. First we need devices on the mass market that play 3D medis (yes the PS3 is already there). Then we need TVs that play it, in the hands of consumers. Then media needs to be made that contains it. Finally the media needs to be reasonably priced. That is at least another 5 years away. Of course people have to accept wearing those glasses as well.
@glamajamma
5years? did you happen to catch any of this years CES.... 3D TVs/ players/ and media is all going mainstream THIS YEAR! All of this is going to be reasonably priced (though in the higher end consumer range)
You do have a good point though, people will have to accept wearing the glasses. But when it comes down to it, if you're willing to sit down and watch a movie, maybe turn the lights down, maybe turn on the surround sound?, then putting on glasses to watch in 3D is no issue at all.
So what.
My existing projector is three dimensional.
It even has mass.
Actually, I cannot wait to be in a meeting and see pie charts with that big wedge coming RIGHT AT YOU!
So, how long before PowerPoint supports 3D?
I've got one of these (bought earlier from Europe) paired with a 115" screen and some nvidia 3d glasses and I can tell you that it is absolutely fantastic. Playing Burnout in true 3D goes way beyond what I was expecting (and I don't even like racing games that much!) If you've got the money and a spare wall then forget buying some crappy ipad or new smartphone and get one of these!
@blendfish
Do you have a thread or forum post somewhere that elaborates on your experience blendfish?
@Podaman
No but I believe there are several others on the official nvidia 3d vision forums who have given it great reviews.
The only negative thing I can think of is that the built in zoom isn't that flexible so you need to check the distance to the screen is ok in your room before buying (I think that's the same with most projectors though.)
Other than that there is no ghosting that I have noticed (double images) and it all worked first time, no messing about.
3D projectors are so disappointing, I want holograms :
