ASUS EeeKeyboard PC hands-on (slight return)
Has it really been almost a year (to the day!) since we last gave some first-hand thoughts on ASUS' audacious Eee Keyboard PC? Given the recent news of an apparent April release date, we thought we'd give the perennially-delayed machine another walkthrough, albeit via the touchpad only since it wasn't connected to an external display. The software is definitely still in need of some work -- we managed to crash the sucker within minutes, but the startup to Windows XP (the full version) was quick and admittedly pretty interesting to witness -- maybe at some point we could get a miniature game of Peggle going. When working, the menu was pretty smooth. None of the shortcuts were working, unfortunately , as the internet was down in the booth. As a keyboard, it feel pretty strong, resilient, and most of all clicky. Live through us vicariously, via still shots and moving pictures below.

why does the fact that it's a touchpad have anything to do with the iphone, silly woman? Touch controls have been here long before the iphone
@williamlau05 It's not a touchpad! It's a touch SCREEN. It's a complete computer.
Hmm, for a living room computer I don't see why you'd want to keep all the guts of the machine in the keyboard. Besides it getting dirty or being dropped, it also adds weight to the system.
I'd rather just have my box hidden away near the TV and have the option of changing wireless keyboards or input devices on a whim. Plus, for $500 it's easy to put something together which would be much more snappy for HD video, games, or anything else. More storage and OS choice would be a nice benefit as well.
@ebgolfin
yet its about the form factor
not that I want it lol
I see internet explorer browser. No deal.
@codebreaker
dude it's running XP, you can install anything you want on there :p
Update the cpu, add an Ion and maybe I'd consider getting this again.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but its a computer stuffed into a keyboard??
Remind me why Asus did this??
Stuffing a computer into a screen is one thing (imac) but into a keyboard??
interesting idea.
Woman in video: "..very iPhone-like..."
