Canon captures your coffee in a 70-200mm telephoto lens
OK, not really, but Canon was indeed giving out these novelty coffee mugs -- in the shape of an EF70-200mm f/4L USM lens -- at the Winter Olympic's press center, and here's Microsoft's Josh Weisberg (Director of Rich Media Group) showing off his swag to the whole world. Yes, we're just a bit envious. So anyone got a spare Canon L-Series lens that we can tamper with? Or maybe that big-daddy Sigma lens if you're game with sharing coffee?

DO WANT!
@appleofglasgow tottallly agree :)
@appleofglasgow i was like wtf at first. are they trying to get people to inspect their coffee? LOL but no i dont want one
@appleofglasgow
That would look awesome sitting next to my 20D.
@sweet greggo
... Until you accidentally tried to throw your real 70-200 into the dishwasher. No amount of weather sealing is going to save you from that rain storm ;)
Canon should really sell these.
@Thomas Houston
I would absolutely buy this.
@Thomas Houston
AWESOME. I'd buy one. And I'm a Nikon guy. And by "Nikon guy" I mean, guy who bought Nikon but cannot tell the subjective differences between Nikon and Canon lenses.
@Thomas Houston I'd pay $15-20 for one. Defiantly turn heads at school lol
I sold my 70-200 f/4 long ago for the 2.8 version, but I still have Canon coffee tumbler envy for this. Pure win.
@TPJ What sad fool bought that? What's the point of the 4.0? Other than hawking crap to people.
That looks great, but is it just me or does that box look straight out of the 80s? I thought it was a "found on ebay" kind of thing before I read the article.
I'm dumping Nikon over Canon! Anybody wants two D300s and a bunch of lenses? :)
@Silverph
Yes yes yes yes! (you get the point)
Poor student here...
@Silverph
I do.
@EM1 @SolidSnak. Oh um, I didn't mean for free. Hehe!
@Silverph
Then no.
I'll trade you for a Canon Rebel XS.
@Silverph
Why not hollow out the lenses and fill them with coffee?
@Silverph
Sorry, Engadget. I don't want to spam your article but Silverph...how much are you asking for a D300?
BTW I really wish Canon would sell these. It is definitely very stylin and will turn some photographer heads. Its damn sick if you ask me! :)
@Wolfticket I would if only money grows on trees! :D
@Schmitty Still convincing my wife to make the switch. Follow me on Twitter (Silverph) for this conversation.
Dear Canon,
Sell this.
Signed,
The camera nerds (You know who you are)
want
I didn't even read the article but I WANT!
Canon definitely needs to sell these. I would SO buy one!
I'm so fucking high right now and this looks like the coolest thing on the planet.
@Wes Steele Genuine lol there for being high.
I so want one it can match my real 70-200 lens
THAT IS IS AMAZING. I will buy one in a heartbeat.
I'd definitely buy one of these.
Sell them!
They would/could sell more mugs than actual lenses... and that is the definition of 'WIN'.
I'd pay $30.
love the creativity
It's all fun and games until you pour two cups of hot coffee into your $650 lens while remembering too late that the mug is still in the dishwasher.
Does it come with IS? My hands shake a lot and I don't want to be spilling my coffee.
@brotato
...imbibing stabilization?
@brett:
In-the-morning Stabilization, Duh :D
i so want one, that amazing.
I want one!!! please post this on ebay or something!
Rich people getting free stuff... I always LOVE hearing about that
@newdna
well it comes with the perk :)
by the way I would love to have that
@newdna
Pretty sure the people who received them were photogs...
Why haven't anyone thought of this b4? Imagine the 800mm cup :D
@cdf74dc9
The Big Gulp is bad enough.
Of course, if you really want to go all-out, why stop at the 800? Let's commemorate the 1200 f/5.6. It'd be the Canon equivalent of a 5 litre German stein.
nikon!!! please make one like this!!!
Come on Canon! At least let us CPS members buy this thing, I would love one of these
Looks great, but then you'd need the Tripod Ring -- sold separately, because it's the f/4 version! Then just attach it to your gimbal head, place the tripod next to your chair and you're all set! :)
I would definitely buy one of these.
not into photography but damn that is AWESOME.
