Project Pink QWERTY slider 'Pure' found in the wild, headed for Verizon?

This is all fine and exciting, but it's helped along by a couple of image leaks. Conflipper, well known among the xda-dev crowd, is teasing the Twitter world with some screenshots of the emergency dialer (which also mention Verizon Wireless), and a Facebook upload from the device, which can be found in the gallery below. The dialer is about as barebones as it gets right now, but there's a bit of a hint of Windows Phone 7 Series in there to be sure. Finally, Gizmodo hit upon the hardware jackpot with a Mr. Blurrycam capture of the bigscreen 'Pure' QWERTY slider (pictured up above). If you really squint your eyes you can make out some of that "hectic and colorful" UI we're hearing about.

do i see opera 10.5 on that pic :) this rocks!!
if this the hardware then wp7 better be nothing less than revolutionary, amazing etc!
software will need make up for the hardware!
@unwynd
At this point, almost no one is betting that Project Pink will run WP7S. Project Pink appears to be MS's grab at the feature phone market and isn't supposed to conflict with WP7S at all.
@Delta Sorry guys, I was using the Droids camera when I snapped these.
@crazyleo
I see zune as well [center] :-)
this is the worst resolution picture i've ever seen! :O
@besuikerd 600x451px isn't that bad, but the picture quality is truly awful.
@besuikerd
Then Mr. Blurrycam can sleep easily tonight:)
eh. not bad for a sidekick replacement.
@Brent1700 this is replacing the sidekick? is it going to look like the sidekick?
@emopoops nah. it doesnt look like it, nor will the UI, im sure. But i mean, come on, look at the font on those keys. haha. they look just like they do on the SK keyboard
this looks like a lanscape pre :-)... which would be pretty sick... but if i am getting a wp7s device it probably wont be this
ew.
Khotars?
Ugh, the design is...interesting?
@Matej Bajan
Hard to tell when they take photos in smoked-filled rooms.
@LAY I bet they probably MEANT to blurry it out. In these days of DLSR's and 14+ MP's, it's hard to explain why these pics are like this other than intentionally.
Looks like a Moto Cliq - Palm Pre mashup....
..well it looks better then that old concept. That's for damn sure. Still seems like a "my first smartphone" just like the Sidekick. And personally, there's something novel about the swivel screen of the Sidekick that makes it what it is. It'll be disappointing if Danger isn't also working on a proper Sidekick follow up for T-Mobile. This is nice, but it's no Sidekick.
The Facebook pic sez uploaded by Danger. Def a Sidekick replacement.
For some reason, I hate and love this at the same time. Not my style of phone but the UI is definitely eye-catching
This is the "Zune Phone". Hopefully it'll use the Zune's UI like conflipper hinted.
I wonder if this is like WP7 light. Sorta like how MS had the two variants of WM6 (touchscreen and non-touchscreen). Part of me hopes it will run the same apps as WP7 but the other part doesn't. If it does, devs will end up having to target it's lower hardware specs instead of the juicy WP7 requirements which would kinda suck. Oh Microsoft... how truly bizarre you're acting.
@UCFw00t
It's not going to compete with WP7S at all. Microsoft's modus operandi (at least in the last several years) is to never screw around with their Partner's spheres of business. I'd put large amounts of money on this not running WP7S apps.
@UCFw00t
the Wp7 phone and os shown before appear much more zune like than these. I think wp7 is the zune phone while these are their own beast.
i think its sliding the wrong way -_-
(assuming the silver thing is the speaker)
@jesusx1 Depends who you ask. My daughter has a Tilt which opens the same way. She complains that my FUZE opens the wrong way.
@jesusx1
I'm pretty sure the silver thing is the home button, like on a Zune HD.
@AndyJ true but im right handed and lazy so i like to open my phone with a single hand. :P
@Chefgon yea i thought about that but i also dont see a headphone jack (which i hope should be there by default) on the bottom (read: left) unless im blind or the pic is indeed, really blurry haha
Hey there's some Zune font in the middle tile there. Wonder what that could mean? =)
@N900
beat me to it!
Looks like that tile says "Music & [something - video?)]"
@mpv I think it says "Music & More". Movies (I think) is on the left, and Camera is on the right. The top tiles are "Messages", "Phone", and "E-Mail". I can't make out any of the bottom tiles, so I'm not sure if Gallery or Internet is down there. But I'm pretty sure of the middle tile.
Hmm, this might be worth getting if there's Zune and Xbox stuff baked in... At least until the WP7 units arrive later this year/early next year.
Is this what Aaron Woodman was talking about when he mentioned people not wanting huge data plans? If I can get one of these and have core windows functionality, like maybe Word and PPT apps with a small data plan for email, then the iPhone and Android just got less interesting for people on the border between "smart" and "dumb".
@Jeff I think you are dreaming if you think Verizon is going to announce a new data plan just for this phone.
Ι don't get it...what is this "project pink"? A "light" version of windows phone 7 series with hardware made by Microsoft too?
@Bobot
It's a messaging phone made by Danger that has nothing to do with Windows Phone 7 whatsoever. In fact, Danger has already released two messaging phones since being acquired by Microsoft, so this would technically be the third dumbphone released by Microsoft in the last two years.
Not my cup of tea but at least it looks better than the shitty concept they leaked a while ago.
Picture of Tom Welling, why?
@Plazmic Flame I don't know why. It's very confusing.
@Plazmic Flame
He's HOT...why wouldn't we want to see him?
No comments at all about the apparent confirmation of the Zune HD interface for media in this screenshot? That's pretty huge if you ask me, and probably the only thing that is going to make this phone worthwhile. I guess it's less of a big deal since the same interface is also going to be in Windows Phone 7, but filtering that Zune goodness down to kids and women (who seem to prefer messaging phones over smartphones in my experience) is definitely worth something.
I gotta ask - how the hell can this be a follow up to the Sidekick when it is headed for Verizon? Sidekick is Tmo only... so, unless this is headed for Tmo, or there is a version for Tmo, this is not a follow up to the Sidekick.
@POZ
These match the earlier leaks of what the project pink phones were supposed to be and they were supposedly been developed by the danger team which made the sidekick.
@POZ
It's a followup to the sidekick because it's made by Danger, the company responsible for the Sidekick before it was discontinued by T-Mobile, who is increasingly moving towards smartphones. I would wager that the followup was offered to T-Mobile first due to their history but they turned it down because it didn't fit into their lineup.
Wp7 is a godsend as all the excitement I once had for pink has been killed by the leaked shots these last few months. Not one looks good to me at all.
Talking about a raping a mr blurycam
Keybord doesn't slide out enough. The keys look way too small
nice phone design still makes no sense to me why t-mobile will let microsoft kill off their sidekick line and not make another device to replace it andriod is good and all but you still lose money with the move...
