Fujitsu's LifeBook UH900 gets reviewed, notable flaws found
There's no question that Fujitsu's LifeBook UH900 is a niche device; much like Sony's VAIO P, there's just not a lot of demand for an expensive clamshell with an extremely high resolution and an exceptionally cramped keyboard. That said, there's a curious seduction surrounding this thing, and critics over at Pocketables seemed to agree. After spending some long days (and nights, don'tcha know?) with the Japanese version of this here device, they came away with a huge mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, the snappy performance and excellent portability made it difficult to put down, but the downright dreadful 2 - 2.5 hours of battery life more or less forced them to. There's also more gentle gripes about the screen color, the "toy-like" build quality and "useless multitouch." For us, that's probably one flaw too many to accept, but the forgiving among us should definitely check out the full skinny before making a final call.

"2 - 2.5 hours battery life"

@n0ne UH900 debuts with an MSRP of $999, but Fujitsu is already offering a deal. You can nab the little clamshell for $849 after $100 rebate and additional $50 price drop. I say,, sleep over it! More: http://bit.ly/fujitsu-uh900-price-updates
Applw should make one of these and call it the iOn.
@SteveWiilliams
With that battery life it'd be more the iOff
@martynmcfarquhar I was waiting for that :3
iOn?

Crapgadget contender.
@ratchetnclank
Indeed Ratchet, I do believe this meets the crapgadget requisites. hehehehehe

@ratchetnclank Too harsh IMO. Battery life is horrible, yes, but there is an extended battery available.
It looks like a neat little device but costs too much, seems like the build quality should be better and should include a better battery from the get go. With that said, seems to have a lot going for it: tiny size, plenty of ports, good keyboard, runs Win7, touchscreen, gps (or wimax) and a well designed trackpoint. Could definitely be better, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it complete crap. I'd grab one of these if I had an extra grand laying around.
And don't forget to mention the hugest bezel.
But the weird part is the lcd is WXGA resolution, i think one (if not the most) with the highest dpi around here.
Anyways, it is a 5.6" small-notebook then 2-2.5 hours sound fair.
Fujitsu has always been a company that piques my interest. Anyone here own a Fujitsu product and care to share your experience?
@hellojoaquin I have had a P1120, cramped keyboard but very portable, I traded it and bought a u810 a few years ago, and again, cramped keyboard, but for 5ish hours of battery life out of the box, it is great for wardriving and runs XP nicely. And airline attendants love it ^_^
@C64person You can pick one of 'em up for under $500 now right? When I saw that I was like "OOOOH! I want one of those!" but bought the kindle instead:P
No regrets, as I know I'll probably end up getting the u810 later on anyway :P
garbage
@UMAD
Totally agree... and this garbage cost $1,000 apparently...
What's the Khotar Index on that keyboard? : )

Looks sweet. If only they had brought this out, say five years ago. Or even better, if Apple had done a Mac version, so it could actually be used enjoyably, without getting a stress-related brain haemorrhage.
But to release such a device in early 2010 is bound to end in tears.
How come nobody mention a word..... that start with "b...." ...
my everun note is slightly bigger, (1.6lbs and slightly larger with a 7" screen) more powerful and gets similar battery life, and it cost slightly less at retail as well!
Why is it that only Apple can offer decent battery life in a notebook/netbook/portable/tablet device? And why is the only omition to that fact the iPhone? I'm baffled. *slips mophie juicepack onto iPhone*
