Samsung's 82-inch multitouch E-board demonstrated (video)
We've been hearing about a certain 82-inch E-board as far back as SID-2008, but recently the Samsung Roadshow launched in Germany, allowing us to finally get a good look at the device. In addition to its interactive, multitouch whiteboard functionality, this bad boy (also available in a 65-inch model) can act as a display for a PC or Mac and supports Sammy's EmoLink technology for receiving and displaying data from the company's e-readers. No word on a release date, but when it does roll around you can expect to drop about €9,000 -- or about $12,300. So start counting those pennies now! Video (in German) after the break.

It's over NINE THOUSAND!!!
EmoLink? As in The All-American Rejects? New Found Glory? The Used? Jimmy Eat World? Does it dress up in black and cry a lot? If Sony made it, they'd call it JockLink fer sure!
@Bosco
That's exactly what I thought. I don't even know what they were going for.
@Bosco
How are we going to see what's on the screen with that swath of dyed-black hair hanging across half of it?
I want an 82 inch iPad.
@macmann me too!
@macmann 82" of pure fail.
@p0p0
Your comment is pure fail.
@macmann
You'll get a 4 inch iTampon and like it.
@macmann
dont give apple ideas, they might make one and then charge you $10k for something with one button, one input, and one function - to sit there and look pretty.

@ratchetnclank iLike how you think! :)
so other than the fact that it's a huge, cool lcd display, are there any advantages over the "smart board" and other similar projector based teaching technologies?
@boneytim Daytime viewing, allows teachers to post material without turning the lights off. Which hinders the students abilities to take notes.
My High School last year was a pilot for the Smart Board Technologies, the boards were nice and all but a major pain when the teacher wanted to present while we took notes.
@bazookafx3 My goodness that last post was redundant, apologies.
I think this is a bit different ... I recall a lot of meetings with 10 people in the room and 5 over the phone and every time somebody tried to draw something, people on the phone had no clue. My guess is that you can add webcam as well to this ...
it's dam pricy for sure, with outsourced IT, this can pay off quickly, but ...
I think if you use normal projector with touchscreen laptop for $1000, you can get the same result much cheaper
My god, do want!
I am curious to know what is the resolution of this display
@DamirSecki oh... it is 3840x2160 :O
cool ...9k e is not that bad deal! specially for multitouch!
Hmm... This or a used truck
That's hot.
What's with this obsession with touch screens? I suppose inputting data tactility is so satisfying that it is worth constantly dealing with finger schmear.
Look, but don't touch my monitor screen.
Ok, they're talking about the possibilities in classrooms and how pupils can upload their homeworks from samsung e readers or laptops via wifi. It's just a bit scaring, the (at the moment) single desktop is the room where all desktops in the classroom are showed, and the teacher selects it and shows it on the big part, and if the teacher wants to every pupil gets showed his actual desktop/presentation/whatever on their desktops..... Teachers will love them, and they're a very good solution because many pupils prefer to surf on the internet instead of looking at his homeworks and the teacher can control everything directly, but I (as a pupil ;)) don't like it very much as you can imagine :D
BUT: They're talking about this in classrooms, but with a price about 9000€ it's nearly impossible for any german school to afford this. I'm from Germany, and we've got a beamer in every class (about 400€) and in some rooms smartboards. They're expensive, but nothing compared to that. And the size of 65/82" is gigantic, but a beamer does it on an area of 3 by 2 metres (118 by 78 inches). I would really look forward to something like this, but it's not possible to use it in a german school, and I don't think the american schools have more money...
The question is, does it run android becuz it seems that everything else does?
The catholic school in my area has a something like this, except it's a projector. And it's in the kindergarten class. Kindergarten!
Did Engadget miss this at CES? I checked this thing out for a good half hour when I was there. It helped that the girl that was showing it off was cute (like every girl working the Samsung booth) but I am surprised that this is the first I have seen of this on Engadget.
