I'm betting on 720/1080p and image stabilization.
@Jeff im betting on a slimmer design! lighter weight!
I think that all the people that got iPod Nanos for christmas may be hesitant to buy another video capable device when theirs was marketed as one so effectively (I would buy a Flip, but thats just me.)
@SolidSnake The Flip is no doubt a better camera experience, but the bonus of an iPod with iTunes integration is hard to top.
@trainwrecka
and for 99.9% of people, an easy way to transfer videos trumps "quality" any day. Case in point: bluray...
@SolidSnake
The camera needs a few things to really be an industry killer
- Mic input
- A threaded lens mount (so I can add cheap telephoto/macro/wide angle lenses)
- Image stabilization
- Slightly improved sensor
- DC power in
- More storage
These things would really push the camera forward. That said, with Cisco owning the company... I feel like we will see a wireless option, which makes no sense. I could really care less about the size... it's really not that large.
@mitchellpgh ALSO, the video in low light gets unbelievably fuzzy. 1080p WOULD be amazing, but I highly doubt that. Cisco, (and every other company ever made other than Nintendo), think that smaller is better. They already made a "Flip Mino", I bought one of those a few weeks ago, and I LOVE it, but I don't know if they could go any smaller. Maybe a slight difference like the iPhone 3G to the 3G S, but nothing too special. I think it'll just be more of a storage thing happening. There's my opinion. :)
1080p on these devices will be laughable.
@Evan No kidding... but we would be laughing, so maybe kidding.
Why is 1080p such a necessity? The thing that these cams need most is a good image stabilizer.
@Mjmar17 yes and more memory.... and a good mic. is that so much to ask for??
Hmm the Ultra HD dropped in price on Amazon by a considerable margin. Rumors might just be true.
I think what Flip needs is a second (front-facing) video cam. I didn't buy a flip because the sony Webbie has a swivel-lens so I can easily record myself. However, Flip doesn't offer that solution or anything comparable. :/
I love my MinoHD but it needs ImageStabilization and better Indoor light sensitivity.
Outside on a sunny day, every shot is crystal clear, indoors unless I turn on every light possible, it is somewhat grainy and the colors are a bit off - too yellow.
I hope they come out with a waterproof version to compete with the new Kodak PlaySport HD. Otherwise, I think I will be getting the Kodak in April.
I've got the UltraHD and love it but yes it needs Image Stabilization and I'd love WifFi to auto upload to sites (vimeo, YT) or atleast to my computer, ie like the eye-fi video card....
I"m looking forward to something because I might go with the new Sanyo Xacti VPC-CS1 out March 14th!!
First Change Required: Reduce The Thickness of this Porker!
I love my flip, wish for rotation on the lens or screen, and image stablizlation
1080p still images please...
please better OEM. this company is horrible. 90day warranty and if anything goes wrong after, your out the money you spent on this crappy product.
A rep came into work today with one of the new models that will come out in a month or so with 'full hd recording' and bigger screen. So I'm assuming it must be this model. Except the back was silver (not black like above) but with the same NON-glossy finish.
Overall, was pretty impressed, looked heaps better when I tried it out on the macbooks.
decent optics/mic and 720p works for me
I have the flip ultra (£29.97 pc world brandnew old sealed stock clearance ) and just got a Kodak zx1 for £49.97 same shop the kodak is miles better, I did iwn a Sony SR10e and found that to struggle with movement and focus when moving around at any speed.
Need low light and good ois system. 5x zoom
would be nice too, something like most compact cameras use now with the sensor inside amd the mirror/lens system built inside so not to stick out. And waterproof to 10 feet
at £200 and no more and take AA's too
