HTC Incredible out in the wild once more, Verizon color scheme alive and well
Android Forums is alight today with fresh HTC Incredible chatter -- a phone every Android fan on Verizon is desperately waiting for -- and we've managed to glean a few more pictures and possible specs out of the mess. It looks like we can expect a half gig of RAM with about 320MB available (roughly the same as what you find on the Nexus One) and an 8 megapixel cam, but interestingly, the phone's Snapdragon core is apparently underclocked to 768MHz, almost certainly a battery-saving measure on HTC's part; fortunately, the Sense-powered Android 2.1 firmware is still said to be "blazing fast." It measures 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9mm -- just a hair narrower, shorter, and thicker than its Nexus One doppelganger, small enough of a difference so that we think it'll be virtually indistinguishable in person. As shots go, we're seeing now that HTC has moved from the brightly-colored glossy shell to a soft-touch black one while keeping the strange contours; we think there's at least a chance that this is final ID, too, since the Verizon logo is silkscreened at the bottom. Inside, the entire thing (including the battery itself) is a shockingly loud shade of red, mirroring an odd design trend first seen on the HD mini. We definitely dig it. If the stats over on the forum hold up, the Incredible's on track for a launch in April or May, so it's still a few weeks off -- in the meanwhile, we encourage you to check out more of the new shots after the break.

This is not the bravo., Hoepfully it will be better.
@scioncas
Isn't the Bravo the HTC Desire? :/
@SomeoneElse I am just saying...the looks in the front are the same, but the back is different. Also the guts seem to be different by a couple of mb, so technically it is NOT the same, just comes close.
@SomeoneElse
The Nexus One is the Bravo too but with a trackball.
Snapdragon underclocking = FAIL.
Nexus 1 FTW!
With an 8MP camera on board, the contour of the back seems, "fitting."
@brown like dookie They've made it even thinner than the N1?? Incredible indeed.
Good to see the cak cover is black... but whats up with the crazy contours?
September 8Th this will be mine....
oops, comprehension fail. It's thicker. =P
So... how would I upgrade my Droid Eris to this? Do I have to wait for New in 2 deal? ... :(
@shloopa You actually bought an Eris? Poor thing...
@shloopa
or you can buy it outright. Your best bet though is to sell the Eris soon on craigslist. Most consumers will jump at buying a used or "like new" Eris with a valid ESN off craigslist for $250 or so so they dont have to extend their own contract or for whatever reason.. I've sold plenty of phones this way. You can use the money from the sale to pay the retail price on the incredible.
@ImSpartacus Im running 2.1 on it, and i love it, just need more processing POWER!
@Certifiedfryguy how would you go about transferring accounts etc.
@shloopa When I got my droid, I believe the guy told me that if you are listed as the primary line on an account (in other words, not one of the extra lines on a family plan) you can upgrade every year. But selling it would probably be your best bet.
@KungFuHamster Im going to have to talk to my friends at Verizon, Thanks
@shloopa
Just take the phone to a verizon store. They do all the work for you...
@HerbieDerb I think there weill be a way to "Unleash the Power"!
mmmm i think the supersonic just got a lot more interesting any1 else agree
@jiggz
100%%%%
Soo... this or the Nexus One?
I think for me it really comes down to straight Android vs. Sense. 8mp camera is nice. The underclocked Snapdragon is a shame, but if it increases battery life I'm a fan.
What does everyone else think?
@mr88 I forgot another important point...I think the N1 looks a lot nicer than this. For the record I'm still leaning towards N1.
@mr88
I'm sure the Incredible will be rooted pretty quickly, so with that in mind the full process of Snapdragon will be available shortly after release.
@mr88
This phone looks nice, but I'm not a big fan of Sense UI. I bought an N1 and have no regrets! It's awesome!
@mr88
No Sense UI on the N1 = faster Android revision updates.
It's what made me swap my Hero for the Nexus One (well.. the spec bump helped too) :P Having 1.5 when 1.6, 2.0 then 2.1 came along was too much of a wait. Flashing custom roms was fun tho! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrXUjtF1roY
@ChazClout The faster updates is a good point. The more I think about it the more I think I'll just upgrade to the N1 when I'm due. Thanks to all for the input.
@mr88 There may not be faster updates, since Verizon gets final say on what the updates are like and when they come out. If the Droid getting 2.1 is any indication, their rigorous testing schedule severely delays the expediency of updates to Google Experience devices.
@herki Nexus One updates are pushed out directly from Google. Verizon / ATT ect do not have anything to do with it. N1 phones are made to be compatible with specific networks, but not sold BY those networks. Its one of the many perks of the N1's model of sale.
What's with the under-clocking? Don't they know we want POWER?
@crearian
[Jeremy Clarkson voice] POWWWWERRR [Jeremy Clarkson voice]
@David G
More!, More of that!
Is there a blue one for AT&T? :(
@TheGM no, we'll probably get stuck with a purple one thanks to yahoo services.
attfail.
@HerbieDerb it isn't a complete fail, they're using what they NEED to run the device, and saving loads of battery life.
because if they didn't, people like you would be like "OMG BATTERY LIFE IS FAIL"
be smart homeboy
Kind of meh.
HTC Desire FTW.
@Steven agreed, +1
although, i cant decide if i want desire or mini5
but when it really comes down to it, its streak UI vs sense, and after playing with sense i really, really fell inlove with it.
@AlexSanchez
This phone reminds me of the LG Chocolate touch. HTC fucked up this looks like a gimmick. Red Really?
We want the red back! We need cnn.cn to make red ones!
@Supraman red for verizon, and it will be covered up with the back cover. don't sweat it too hard.
This is my next phone, good god it's a thing of beauty. So glad the RAM was bumped up too.
Thank god for the black version, the red is too over the top.
I'm switching from AT&T to Verizon for this phone. Can't wait!!!
None of these phones are coming out! :P Nah, I'm just impatient. I want a good Droid phone on Verizon already! (Motorola Droid is OK, but that hardware keyboard is a mess! I'd just end up using the software keyboard and the extra bulk of the hardware keyboard would just make me angry...)
@Supraman
+1, this looks pretty ugly imo.
The cheesy spray paint looking red looks well... not so Incredible
Otherwise awesome news
@brown like dookie
whats he difference between this and HTC desire?
Wow that black back look hella better than that glossy red one!
So Verizon will first offer the N1 followed a few months later by the Incredible?
@denary thats how money talks
