HTC Incredible out in the wild once more, Verizon color scheme alive and well
Android Forums is alight today with fresh HTC Incredible chatter -- a phone every Android fan on Verizon is desperately waiting for -- and we've managed to glean a few more pictures and possible specs out of the mess. It looks like we can expect a half gig of RAM with about 320MB available (roughly the same as what you find on the Nexus One) and an 8 megapixel cam, but interestingly, the phone's Snapdragon core is apparently underclocked to 768MHz, almost certainly a battery-saving measure on HTC's part; fortunately, the Sense-powered Android 2.1 firmware is still said to be "blazing fast." It measures 117.5 x 58.5 x 11.9mm -- just a hair narrower, shorter, and thicker than its Nexus One doppelganger, small enough of a difference so that we think it'll be virtually indistinguishable in person. As shots go, we're seeing now that HTC has moved from the brightly-colored glossy shell to a soft-touch black one while keeping the strange contours; we think there's at least a chance that this is final ID, too, since the Verizon logo is silkscreened at the bottom. Inside, the entire thing (including the battery itself) is a shockingly loud shade of red, mirroring an odd design trend first seen on the HD mini. We definitely dig it. If the stats over on the forum hold up, the Incredible's on track for a launch in April or May, so it's still a few weeks off -- in the meanwhile, we encourage you to check out more of the new shots after the break.

What an incredible design...
Down rank me at will.
Wonder how this compares against the Motorola Shadow...
@AndroidUser for a moment i thought you meant the t-mobile shadow just cause it was red.
i swear i almost spat out my orange juice
@HerbieDerb not underclocked just a lower end processor...
@HerbieDerb 768MHz is NOT underclocked. Qualcomm's source clearly says there is a 768MHz part, presumably available to OEMs at a lower cost.
For the technically inclined: https://www.codeaurora.org/gitweb/quic/la/?p=kernel/msm.git;a=blob;f=arch/arm/mach-msm/acpuclock-8x50.c;h=4f2847583274bcca7966c626f50cabe4dfe9819c;hb=eclair_rum
According to the source, there's three versions of the QSD8x50 chip: a 768MHz part, a 998MHz part (in the Nexus One), and a 1.267GHz part.
Acer Liquid users have trouble reaching 1GHz with custom kernels without overvolting beyond what the Nexus One has its Snapdragon set at.
Of course, HTC could have bought the 1GHz part and underclocked it - but that would be a waste of money. The Liquid/Incredible Snapdragon is a slower, lower cost part. End of story.
If this is the best phone leaked from HTC, then 2010 won't be as good a year as I had presumed.
@TareG
Who said it was the best leaked phone?
@TareG
When did anyone say this was the best? Supersonic? Besides, HTC usually surprises us with something somewhere down the road. By the end of the year I'm sure there will be something to outdo the supersonic.
@Certifiedfryguy I'm guessing he's referring to stuff like this that was released late last year:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/06/htcs-2010-roadmap-goes-on-display/
@coolbho3000
Thanks for that info. In this case N1 FTW!
(Ill be getting N1/VZW over this)
@brown like dookie Now to see how the supersonic is going to look. HTC cranking out the cavity enducing sweets FTW!
Looks awesome without the cover.. looks like Kaneda's bike from Akira
@HerbieDerb
my guess is the N1 when it goes CDMA will have a slightly bigger battery, yet bad battery life. Thats about all my Hero got, and I have to leave mine plugged in most the day. I will take it back before the 30 days
Looks pretty good.. kinda looks like a bigger Instinct. An April or May release isnt that far off.. Hopefully the Supersonic will be out around that time or atleast shortly after. I needs my preciousss.. (in Smeagol's voice from Lord Of The Rings) Lol..
@kinglance82
Seriously? I, too, have a Hero. It's the best phone I have ever owned! My last one was an HTC Mogul, and THAT had some horrible battery life.
I get a day easily on one charge. Are you on it constantly? I play around with it about every half hour, and it lasts the whole day. (Also, I don't use the media player function. Just the apps, phone calls, text messages, and email)
Androidandme got updated info(rumour):
Rumored specs of the HTC Incredible include:
* [768 MHz*old]* 1 GHz Snapdragon processor QSD8650

CAN'T WAIT !!!!
@vpr0
no f'n way
@vpr0
Whoa.
@vpr0 Thats Incredible!
@vpr0 that would be nice if it had these specs because the specs engadget gave it are not very "incredible" and would make sense
Omg that is fugly. Good job Verizon. Another cool phone made ugly.
Sweet..
Select>Filter>Blur
Probably would have taken a lot less time Mr. Covermytracks.
WOw, I wonder how this will affect Nexus One sales once it launches for Verizon..

@HerbieDerb
I rather like the ruggedness.
I like it. It would be nice to see other color schemes offered, but this one works. I'm still stuck w/ AT&T because of the call quality out where I live. VZ drops in and out and T-mobile's even worse. 3G Data is not an issue to me b/c I'm surrounded by Wi-Fi 24/7.
I believe that AT&T will either have their version of this or another HTC device to compete, but I wouldn't bet money on it right now.
Man I can't wait for this phone to drop! This crappy Omnia I'm using is killing me.
I am fully ready to get rid of my Droid for a Snapdragon Android slab phone. I don't use the Droid's physical keyboard anymore.
I really like the Incredible, and also the Legend and Bravo, hmmm I guess whichever comes to Verizon first :)
@sethmo I was just browsing the archives, saw this old comment of yours which is in reference to the iPhone, and then clicked your profile to see what you were saying these days. Pretty funny.

Why you would want a fully touchscreen cell phone is beyond me.
So are they saying the Incredible is much slower than the Desire/Legend and N1?
