Wow. Just wow.
Hmm.. That's pretty awesome! I use Netflix streaming(Silverlight) all the time to watch the best show ever Spartacus.
That is a bad ass app, I hope they keep goodies like this coming!
@hq
Yeah, this is the first thing I've seen that makes me hesitate before jumping on whatever the next-gen webOS device may be.
@hq Nice. It makes me wonder if the courier devices Microsoft will develop will also be based on Silverlight/XNA. If so, I imagine this being a fast port to a slate device.
Microsoft is looking hot.
SUPER DUPER EPIC WIN!
@treats Spartacus is the shit. Totally a man's man show.
@hq
Ugh... Engadget where's the video??? This looks freakin amazing! :-)
@hq agreed. R.I.P, iPhone. It was a great run but much like the late roman empire, arrogance and corporate greed meant apple settling in and coasting right into a sclerotic self-parody, and soon they'll be able to keep up with the imitators they once disdained.
a great day indeed.
@hq Couldn't have said it any better. MS is killing it.
Freakin' awesome. Now, please integrate netflix and IMDB into one hub and make my life simple
@Mister Warmth HA! WHAT!?! Windows 7 phones won't be out for months, yet you're saying death to iPhone! Hilarious. You do know Apple has a new iPhone being released in June? Let's hold our judgments until they are both out and usable.
Netflix is also developing an iPad/iPhone app, so it's not like Windows7 is going to have a leg up for long.
@hq I agree. This alone makes me want winP7.
@hq Looks like one of those killer app thingies.
@treats
+1 for Spartacus!! Idblove to be able to watch it on my iPhone. I'll wait & see what apple has in store for iPhone 4G & OS 4.0. If Apple doesn't bring it, this long time Apple/iPhone fan may be swtiching. Although, I'd never leave OSX ;)
@treats
YES OH YES THAT SHOW IS AMAZING.
BLOOD,SEX,DRAMA.
@think before you react
That will be the iphone 4 running iphone OS 3.2 (to keep in sync with the ipad) with little variation.
Apple have set their course with their UI and system with regards to the iphone so it is not going to change substantially. Maybe 64 or 128GB. Dual core? if we are super lucky a 1024x768 super amoled screen in the iphone form factor (doubtful). Either way, it will not change the core appearance or experience.
Microsoft can change their core experience because they had to. They are looking to have done a pretty good job so far. I am finding more excitement from them these days.
@Anatidae it is : courrier is also based on the same platform than WP7S :)
Can Iphone do that?
@techlord
Can your iPhone Multitask?
@techlord
No flash mate
@hdawggy Netflix does not use flash. It uses Silverlight. which is perfect for the WPS7 devices... So no, the iPhone cannot run it.
Anyway, this is a killer app! :-)
@darkazure yay. This is proof that they will be developing with Silverlight. I'm a happy panda.
@Processing Same here. I'm super excited about the developer tools. The libraries seem pretty fleshed out, and the way its integrated into Visual Studios is pretty damn sweet.
@techlord Yes it can...in the dreams and wishes of everyone but steve jobs.
@techlord
Yea but you have to but in a special Blu-ray disc
@Processing Not necessarily. Silverlight is currently able to transcode H.264 streams on the fly for mobile devices. We won't know what that Netflix mobile app is running for a little bit longer yet (my guess is it will be a H.264 stream; eventually they're going to roll this out across iPhone and Android as well).
@techlord
There's no app for that.
GTFO, NETFLIX *dies*
@Processing
I think you want to be downranked.
Microsoft might be giving Apple and Google a run for their money here. This looks pretty impressive, seeing as I am a NetFlix person that would love to watch movies with my WiFi on my iPhone.
..say what??
That partnership those two have really seems to be working out well for the two. Also the watch instantly feature will be awesome.
@Templarian Agreed, maybe Palm can join in? Hopefully my Pre wont divorce me for fooling around with wm7.
Man, this is starting to look more and more promising.
Hulu app where are you!
Can I get a WP7 device already now?
I am going to cry. So happy!!!
WOW Out the box the Win Pho 7 will have more capabilities than the iphone did at launch! I am so excited!
@bySeon
Lets hope a new phone is more capable then one released 3 years ago.
I ain't knocking either phone just your comment. Seriously, WTF?
@EM1
Understand your point, but it's worth noting than when the iPhone was released in 2007 it was severely underfeatured, lacking many of the features of existing smartphones from... c. 2005. The HTCs or LGs or whatever ships first with WinPho 7 I'm sure will at least be competetive with what's out there at the time. As far as apps it will have at least as many as the iPhone had at launch, or more.
@bySeon
Yeah, I was gonna say.. when the iPhone first came out could only make calls and SMS thats it.
@shishi "when the iPhone was released in 2007 it was severely underfeatured, lacking many of the features of existing smartphones"
in many aspects, this still holds true with its recent iterations.
I just want to see a video camera in the front and I'm sold.
@fastm3driver
There is one on the ASUS demo units that these guys show this stuff on. So..I'm guessing yes.
On a side note, that demo unit they are using there looks damn good enough to be put out in the market right now !
@Shravan Good catch. The real problem with this is going to be the long wait if these don't come out until November the game could have changed multiple times by then. There will certainly be a new iphone by then and probably several apple and Android updates. Most of the hardware they showed is on the Nexus one and that is out today.
Watch Instantly! Holy Crap! My Nexus One just cried.
@crearian HOLY CRAP, MY IPHONE SHYTTED ITSELF!
@crearian i knew there was a reason i was holding off moving from Palm Pre to Nexus One on Verizon -- 7 Phone, baby.
@Mister Warmth I know there was a reason that I really like Sprints premier upgrade at 1 yr. Just got a Moment and hopefully the WM7 phones will be out and matured a bit by next spring for my upgrade. Andriod>iPhone, but WPS 7 could be >= Android in my own opinion.
@IceTheGreat. Lol
