Cabestan's Nostromo watch is geared for success
You might think, given our recent bout of attentiveness toward wristwear, that we're starting to develop an Enwatchet subsection, but that's not entirely accurate. It's just that when we come across such wild and quirky designs, there's nothing to be done but share them with the world. Case in point: the Cabestan Nostromo watch, inspired by the ship from the Alien movie. In the words of its own designers, the Nostromo combines traditional watchmaking with "retro-futuristic audacity," and when we gaze upon its exposed vertical mechanics, we can't exactly argue otherwise. With a titanium case, Superluminova phosphorescent coating for dusky situations, and side windows (see them after the break), this is as appealing a watch as any geek can dare to imagine. Sure, you could probably buy a sports car for less than the 150,000 Swiss Francs ($141,400 in American currency) asking price, but it's not like you can strap a Porsche to your wrist, now is it?

Do Want!!!
@ILLEGALWARRIOR But i am not sure my wrist can support the weight of a porsche ...
@ILLEGALWARRIOR Dont Want.
I dont like wrist watches that look like a (futuristic) brick on my wrist.
@ILLEGALWARRIOR
NOSTROMO DOES
@ILLEGALWARRIOR : Wait a week for the $50 KIRF version from china. I know a guy. :)
Nostromo eh?
I don't know. The face looks a little...ripley?
Anyone wanna exchange this for my Casio? It's digital and has a built in calculator...
@Tweedskin Keep it. Another 20 years and it will become valuable again!
@touchmygadget What do you mean? The english do not use the same arabic numbers as the swiss? Or is it just that (lack of) clumsy am/pm scheme that holds you off? :P
It will do 0 to 60 in.... 60?
I'll take the porsche :-)
Enwatched would be awesome. Do it.
why so expensive :( at 1st i read $141 >_
Want! Gimme!
hmm....me drivinng a porsche with my girlfriend sitting besides me or a wristwatch.......phew, this is a tough one. (>.
$141k? Really? I thought this watch looked affordable to the common man. I might pay $200 at the most for it.
What a bargain!
@touchmygadget...
What is the swiss language?
There are four (count them) national languages of Switzerland, Suisse, Scheiwz, Svizzera or if you are really clued in - Helvetia.
The languages are: German, French, Italian, and Romanish. However, most citizens under the age of 50 have studied at least one or two years of English (as opposed to American - BTW).
So where did you happen to notice in these photos that the days of the week were in the "Swiss" language?
Oh, and prices START at CHF 150,000..
Nice watch. Definitely very cool! I do not wear a watch and I would wear this one. At least while in Montreux. ;)
One hundred and fifty thousand dollars for a watch I won't even be able to read after my 40th birthday? F that.
Is there a rapper nerdy enough?
Stop this nonsense, PLEASE.
@Vladislav -- You CAN strap a Porsche Design Watch on your wrist however, and they are awesome!
@touchmygadget
- There is no such language as Swiss. The four official languages of Switzerland are German, French, Italian and Romansh.
- As far as I can see, the watch doesn't show any weekdays. The only written bit is "Cabestan" which is the name of the manufacturer.
It's free to ask someone for the time...but not free from the clichéd comebacks
For this price does it keep time any better than a $5.00 digital watch.
I'm also sure from looking at the size of this thing it will be getting knocked around on a regular basis. Unless it is extremely shock proof it will not keep very accurate time after a short time. Give me practicality over style anyday especialy at this price.
@terryH This is like the Vertu of wristwatches.
@touchmygadget
I have an IWC. They're amazing.
I bet a timepiece of that price will provide rock solid time for a while. Heck if it stops working they will probably send you a new one for $99
Damn, I was really interested until I saw the price. Lame. Only company out there that makes sweet novelty watches is Tokyo Flash but I don't think anyone outside of G4TV has ever gotten a working watch from them in the mail. Shoddy workmanship.
$141k? What a waste of time.
@chilipalm
well done sir, well done
Id rather buy a nuclear watch...
I do NOT want!
WANT...but does it tell time?
How can u tell the time on this thing. My watch runs on motion (completely) tells me the time and date. Mine even looks fancy. This looks like a rock with cables on ur wrist.
