Google Voice is now your real-time pusher (on Android)
Once upon a time, Google undercut its own infant OS by offering rival platforms some of the best features of Android. Those days are long gone, and once again -- as much as we love Google Maps Navigation -- the poster child for only-on-Android functionality (in the US) is Google Voice. That's because as of this week, the Android version supports push notification of incoming messages in real time, as well as a neat interface for your reply (as evidenced by the above pic). Feel free to tease your iPhone and Pre-addicted friends, people; multitasking or no, they're not going to get a heads-up of incoming voicemail transcriptions with plain ol' HTML5.

@Camdog916 Yep, Voice is not fully public. I don't know about the Droid but on the Nexus One Voice is more integrated than on a 1.6 device. Why being there? I guess Google sees it as integral part of the Android experience (Me: it is). Just request an invite from Google and read about the service in the meantime.
With apple's shady appstore review process, its no surprise. I just which they come out and admit we've rejected the app.
This is a great new improvement. I love that I can send and receive text for free.
Ah, man. No love for Nokia!
GV is Android-only? What? There's a GV app for the N900.
What are people typically saying for a delay for SMS being received with this app? I like
I have a Droid shipping in monday or so, and am on the fence whether to give out my GV # or the crazy new area code number that VZW assigned me.
How do you get this update? When my update service ran last GV wasn't included in the list. Do I just have to wait until it makes its way to my phone?
I don't know what you consider real time push, but I received SMS notifications on my iPhone (non-jailbroken so using the HTML 5 version) of a transcription of the VM left on my google voice account right after a person left a VM when I ignored the call.
