Well, look at this. If you've been desperate to know what your App Store experience would be like on the iPad, here's a chance to live the dream. Apparently these shots were discovered while the
App Annie folks (an app tracking and analytics site) were "searching for clues" on the device and this "actual feed" was stumbled upon. While that's all very unclear, what isn't unclear is that Apple will be using the HD moniker to denote applications that have either been tweaked in a special iPad version, or have had their resolution upped so they wouldn't just be scaled standard apps. Additionally, we're seeing some applications that aren't even available on the iPhone right now, such as the $49.99 OmniGraffle, which we're assuming will be very close to its desktop counterpart -- a good sign that iPad apps are majorly upping the functionality. One more long shot after the break for your viewing pleasure.
Update: Looks like
App Advice has even more screenshots for your viewing pleasure.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Magical! :O
/s
By definition HD would be in a 16:9 format. 1024X768 is not HD.
@Oldscud
By definition you're an idiot.
Anything with over 720 vertical scan lines is considered HD.
Those look like some killer aps ;)
God dammit i meant apps...now my joke is ruined
Wait wait wait, I am an Apple hater, but I was honestly expecting half the comments section to be something along the lines of "Why do we care"
I mean really guys, it looks the same as it does on itunes, what exactly did you expect? Why does this qualify as news?
Just saying....
@thelolotov I concur.
@thelolotov
Maybe so we can get a look at some of the actual apps that are coming on launch day?
Moron
@GmanC OH THANK GOD, I was afraid I'd have to go without a Nickelodeon Kid's Choice awards app!
Oh sweet, and the iFart iPad edition.
Then why don't they present this as a list of apps instead? They made it seem like the view of the app store was news.
I just cannot imagine my iPhone without the personalization of Apps. How the hell could you buy the phone and then buy no apps? Incredible. I have a few good apps, like iBird that make the phone so much more than a phone or an organizer. And hearing my Dad say: son, go get the level, and whipping out my iPhone and using it as a level, just make the damn gadget for me. Hell,I use the thing to sell dentistry by showing people before and after pics. I love the hive minded development of numerous apps, most useless to me, but some so clever and useful that I don't know how I lived without them before. Derek, you're missing much. Me, I'm looking forward to what the iPad brings to the table. And anyone who has an iPhone that has never said: ooooh if only this had a bigger screen, it could... has not a shred of imagination.
thats what they said about the iphone. wait a few months you'll want one.
It's just a big iPod Touch!
I'm getting so bored of this comment, it's like saying a 27" iMac is just a big 20" iMac, well duh! Anyone who has used an iPod Touch or iPhone can surely see the benefit in a device with similar functionality but on a bigger screen.
So there's already more iPad apps than Pre/WP7 apps?
Nice.
"Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see." - John Lennon
@commonman
You can't just quote Lennon on an iPad post, what the hell's your point?
On the "App Advice" screenshots, there's a button for "Apps for iPhone TV"... What's that about?
@grandmainger Apps from iPhone TV... Commercials. I think.
3.99 for that, 1.99 for this, 5.99 for that one.........no wonder why Apple is so filthy rich.....they know how to milk peoples money....smart marketing.
on the other hand I don`t have to pay a dime on all the wonderful (and useful at the same time) open source apps on my phone (N900)
@sophocha
thank you for making sense. +1....hundred.
@sophocha You made absolutely no sense. Developers set the prices.
@darksharpie ...or make open souce software.
Gorgeous as usual. Man I'm really dying in anticipation for this device, just come out already!!!
If Apple "leaked" these screen shots deliberately, which is likely, then they aren't leaks. They're announcements. A little gorilla marketing to keep the fan boys salivating.
@aikiwolfie
"gorilla marketing"
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guerrilla Marketing?
@aikiwolfie
LMAO @ Gorilla marketing
Epic fail
ooo, ooo, ooo, ahhh, ahhh, ahhh!!
I wont be buy anything from Apple. ESPECIALLY this useless IPAD.
I'm so excited!! Just one more week :)!!
looks like most apps for ipad are HD or for ipad
regardless of how many people say the iPad is so bad, the fact is that it will blow away all other devices, outselling them by very very far. Now having said that, I think is great that Apple is making everyone else put their best innovations out there. We (the consumer) win for sure.
"Top Revenue iPad Software"
I wonder what their revenue is considering... Almost no one has it yet.
Pianist Pro at Launch!
sarcasm
wow !! this is so magical n revolutionary !! and these apps, they are so usefull to me. i really need piano lessons on a touch screen, and of course i need italian recipes, and a pregnency tracker. and ouhou !!! finally another tweeter app ! how about another weather app ?
/sarcasm
@phearme
Don't despair, it won't be long until there's an English grammar & spelling app available for the iPad.
@hated one you are very lucky it's gone up since 2005. investing all your money on one stock such as apple which has very high volatility is already not a good financial move, and even less because you believe the company is a great company or makes great products. looking at the curve, imagine now that you bought your stocks a little after that, let's say at the end of 2007 when it was about 200$, and you, tomorow, you want to retire, but retire is, let's say march 2009... you see my point ? a smart advice would be : diversify your investments when you're playing with your own money.
@hated one I suggest you buy a dozen, since it's not multitask.
FYI, We've added a screenshot of the latest top iPad-specific apps, you can check it out in the original post: http://www.appannie.com/blog/ipad-app-store-screenshots/
Flight control! That game would be amazing on a bigger screen.
@hated one
As your useless techno-shit salesman I'd say its a very very good thing.
As your English teacher, I'd say it's a very very bad thing.
@phearme
Especially when you peep the PE ratio at the time he invested.
You convinced your wife to dump your life savings into a 30-35 PE stock... banking on.. basically ....more iPods (before the iPhone was announced)?
All I can say is, for every family that does this and gets that kind of amazing payback, there's about 500 that are in the poorhouse.
Diversify, Diversify, Diversify.
I still cant help but wonder if there will be jail breaks for the IPad like for the Iphone. This way users can see its true potential!

When is "How to Train Your Dragon" coming out on iTunes?
Since the apps is what will make this gadget special from the iphone, I hope and wish that the engadget review will also contain a review of some interesting apps! :)
one thing is for sure, as a music enthusiast, i can say, a lot of appps like the pianos, the drum and pad sequencers, will be "cooler" to use..
How can a software developer that is so popular among designers create something so ugly and booring?
I stumbled upon a site that explain everything you would want to know about porting or building an iPad Website. Including, Flash image swap, lightview popup, and liquid website construction.
