Best Buy's iPad launch playbook leaked in its entirety? Looks like it
Well, well, what do we have here? In case you were wondering if those leaked Best Buy iPad playbook images making the rounds this weekend were legit, we've been handed a 15-page PDF that matches up with everything we've seen so far. Granted, this could still be fake, but it's a pretty thorough and clever one, if so. There isn't really anything too exciting that we haven't already covered, but for those who felt like something in their lives were missing between the excerpts, feel free to browse the entire thing now while you wait (im)patiently for Saturday.

Thanks for the info...
I for one am calling this leak legitimate on the basis that I don't know why the hell anyone would bother wasting their time making something like this up in the first place.
Why do I have a feeling this is Engadget's 'April Fools' joke?
@DaHarder
Interesting to know that engadget staff are full of Apple fanatics, considering the profuse amount of articles.
Very objective site indeed.
@DaHarder
Just show how desperately Apple want to sell these overgrown iPods Touch
@DaHarder
Seriously. Is this the Apple Blog?
What will it take to slow down the iPad "news"? Oh right a new iPhone is supposed to be announced soon..
@Eli Haj It's always good to have a great set-up to the ultimate punch line. I may be wrong tho' ::shrug:: ... Just a bit skeptical.
@canarsieville
Re: "What will it take to slow down the iPad "news"?"
You can start by convincing the majority of site visitors to stop directing their pageviews to Apple-related news. Engadget caters to their viewing audience. The fact that you came into yet another iPad article just adds to the pageview of this story.
Sensible people scroll past articles that have no value to them. Insensible people log in and comment on the very articles they pretend to dislike. You should stop contributing activity towards topics that you'd like to see die.
@Dood Funny how I didn't see any complaints when Engadget was covering Windows Phone 7 like crazy. Crawl back to your cave, or skip the post. Better yet, choose the Apple free version of Engadget next time.
@Steve Jobs Clone
Apple is hardly desperate. They are doing just fine. Also, people need to grow up and quit calling the iPad an "overgrown iPod Touch". It is way more than that.
EPIC.....
@TheLondonExchange Seriously?
@TheLondonExchange
Lol umm yeah?
No seriously though I'm excited for this product as an Apple supporter and I can't wait to see how well it does. Just to prove the Apple haters like LAY wrong.
@TheLondonExchange
"I'm excited for this product as an Apple supporter"
Apple supporter = Deeply in debt
@TheLondonExchange
Yeah, that'll show em. Some company earning millions in revenue while you don't see a dime of it. In your face 'apple haters'. TheLondonExchange just totally owned you.
@melloncollie128
Your comment make no sense.
@Mrtoocool
Man, your comment reminded me of this nightmare I had last night. Serious. In my dream, there were all these people who had to pay a lot for Apple products. Some seemed like they sold their organs or something... I was freaked out of my mind. No joke. I guess I've read way~~~~ too many comments on Engadget.
"Confidential to Best Buy Employees Only" - hah
@ViperVin
It really makes you hesitate before even thinking of handing your laptop over to BB for repair.
Hmmm... means I may get a chance to play with one in store on the 3rd. Doubt I will buy one, but I'm at least going to try it out first.
@M3
I am a card caring Apple Hater, but I kind of want to order one to give an extended trial. I doubt my opinion would change, but at least my hate would be coming from a more informed place.
@jin and guice
You mean actually try out a product before deciding you don't like it? Madness!
About time
Something about this leak is revolutionary and magical. Perhaps the leak or the subject of the leak.
Can't wait to hear the Best Buy trained sales pitch on this
@southern78
Step 1: Look for suckers.
Step 2: Sell iPad to suckers.
Step 3: Profit.
@Tammacho Amen.
Dumb.
@Snarf101 i know you are but what am i?
I think we all know on launch day (and probably for a couple months afterward) this thing will sell extremely well.
I'm more interested in how this thing will do three-five years from now.
I do hope they start selling a Geek Squad optimized version of the iPad. Those Geek Squad guys really know how to speed up a computer with their extensive computer knowledge.
@scoobydooby you forgot the /sarcasm at the end
@kojo87 I hate the sarcasm "tag" - it feels too much like having to explain a bad joke to someone with no sense of humor.
@scoobydooby
I agree so. Sarcasm should be replied to by those who understand. If you choose to question it, then you might as well wait for everyone else to laugh it off first.
@Sean Connery the sad thing is, those who need the sarkasm tag wouldn't even read engadget. it's the ones who buy geek squad tunings for much money..
a minute of silence for the fooled customers... :(
:)
@davepermen one of my friends works at best buy selling TVs. he says he sold someone a 37" Insignia TV for $500. then a wall mount, installation, cables and an "optimization service" and ran the bill up to $2400. that just seems unethical to me.
@grapeDrank
Long nose you got there, four eyes.
It will be interesting to see what the world will be using in public areas, such as Libraries, cafes, restaurants. Will we all be enjoying the newspaper on a 10in screen? or will the whole "tablet" business just never become popular..
My guess, is it will, since mostly everyone with an iPod and iPhone who will get their hands on this thing will love it, especially since its going to be jailbroken on release. lol.
I myself dont really like the whole iPad, i mean.. the name its self is just so silly.. I also dont really like the amount of bezel it has around it, im pretty sure just under an inch would do.. theres no need to fit your entire hand on the thing..
Im going to check it out and see what its like when it goes on display, if i like it (which im pretty sure I will) ill buy it :)
Well there's the Best Buy Apple EPP store link for anyone who didn't know it...
@MRCUR - After going through everything, my reaction is holy hell does Best Buy get detailed with EVERYTHING. They act as if they'll have hundreds of customers on day one, even though store will only have 15 iPads total.
@MRCUR Are those prices any different for the other products? Doesn't look like it.
@parabola - There are generally some pretty good discounts on the Apple EPP stores, if that's what you're referring to. Many times they're even a few dollars cheaper than through the EDU stores.
This is REAL. 5 units of each model, no stores opening early.
OOH! Can I be the first in line to NOT get one?
In my opinion(no acronyms here, bitch) the iPad will do well, only because of Apple's loyalty base. Not because it's game changing. It does seem to be like a solid product(I wouldn't know since I haven't used one), but I wouldn't say magical or revolutionary as Jobs like to think.
@KidRobotXXIV
No one has used one; that's the funny/sad part. This is the most divisive gadget anyone has never used.
Confirmed, present in ETK under employee news.
Nothing will ever come close to the iPad because no one else can match their marketing blitz.
Google just absolutely refuses to market their phone (see Nexus One) which is completely unfathomable. Advertise your D~MN hardware Google!!!!
- Sent from my Nexus One
@Johnny Rockets - Really? Because recently EVERY site I go to has an ad for the N1.
-Sent from my Windows 7 desktop
@MRCUR
In case it wasn't extremely obvious, when I said marketing blitz, I meant television, radio, in-store ads, etc.
How many Nexus One television ads have you seen?
