HTC HD2 gets early Windows Phone 7 OS port, could be released before official devices (updated: videos!)

Update: Video evidence after the break. For what it's worth, the folks at XDA also think it's legit.

Update 3: It's worth noting, as demonstrated by our friends at the:unwired, that the so-called port could be easily faked with a Remote Terminal connection back to a PC running the unlocked SDK. So while the HD2 port is definitely coming, this might very well be a hoax.

Are you THAT much of an idiot? The OS has been put on a phone that wasn't meant to have it. The GPU drivers need work but it's not like the phone can't handle it.
Go delete your GPU driver and see how well your computer runs, not well... bordering lagging.

doh! I bought and returned my hd2 on wed-thurs. Tmo is a no go. Would have liked to have put 7 on it for a day or two.

It's not worth anything in this case because those who are saying that it's legit on XDA are exacly the same forums members who started this at HTCPedia. You basically only have 4/5 personnes claiming that it's real.
I saw the HD2 with Windows Phone 7 and I... JIZZED IN MY PANTS.
It looks very swish, just need to get the speed of it all up and it should be pretty nice. Im still unsure on this minimalistic approach MS have taken for its handhelds. Perhaps if i play around on a zune I would be more drawn to this OS. :/

Before commenting on WP7 please follow this 2 simple steps:
Step 1: put aside your irrational hatred on everything MS does
Step 2: discard your passionate love for whatever Apple releases.
Then you shall comment on Wp7.
For instance, the "cutoff text" thing is, actually, a visual clue that lets you know there's more content you can acces by swiping the screen to the left.
Oh and it HAS multi-tasking. just nor for 3rd party apps. We've already seen videos of IE loading in the background.
So ¿why geeks love this thing when they could just get a fantastic state-of-the-art oh-so-awesome apple product?
Well, for one thing, Wp7's UI is actually Something New. Not just the good old 4x3 grid we've been using ever since the earliest symbian/UIQ devices back in 2005. With the iPhone, you get fancy multi-touch, a fairly snappy UI and a successful app-store, But everything else was already outdated back in 2007 and hasn't changed a bit since then.
So WP7 actually offers the same iPhone OS does, only better, and with a UI that actually looks like it's been released in 2010. So yeah, geeks love it. Too bad it wasn't apple's, then it would've been just perfect.
But, going back on topic, i really don't see the point on being so hyped about this. I mean, for all i know the HD2 is a great phone as it is. HTC did a great job with Sense UI yet again. With the Wp7 hack, you're basically throwing away a perfectly fine OS, with a brilliant UI built on top of it. ¿and what do you get in return? a laggy phone, with some features not even working anymore. no more support from MS or HTC,and probably no app store (thus NO way to get Wp7 apps). not to mention that win6.5 apps won't work either.
So, to those who say "Oh, now i'm definitely going to get a HD2 and hack it" respectfully: ¿are you out of your freaking minds?¿are you really that eager to pay hundreds of dollars just to see a few features that will be available to everyone in a few months anyway, risking your already wonderful HD2 turn into a very expensive brick in the process?
if we're so eager to get Wp7 on our hands, why not just wait until we can get a phone that is actually supported by Microsoft? ¿hasn't HTC already announced they will release a handset by launch day? Gentlemen, i'm an early-adopter myself, but this is just plain silly.

sorry, i was trying to make some points there, maybe i can resume them:
-WP7 is a new UI metaphor. Iphone OS isn't. That's what all the fuss is about.
-This is not, as some say, "WP7 for the HD2". even is the video is real, it's just a hack. It won't be supported either by HTC or Microsoft, and most likely won't get access to the app store. And doesn't work properly. If i want an HTC handheld that runs Wp7, i'll just wait for it's official release.
@Hamaki Dude! In English, you don't use the opening interrogation sign. Either way, I'm pretty sure people who put WP7S on their HD2s don't do it for an awesome experience, but "because they can". I'd do the same if I had one.
Sincerely I am dazzled ... win7 on HD2 ... i really need to get my hands on one of these .. in the next (present future). And with a bit of hope we might get of bunch of helpful app for the Win 7 ... thanks for the tip :)

Why hobble an HD2 with a crap garbage OS like WM7? You can't cut copy and paste, you can't multitask, and MS can remove applications you install remotely right from the clouds like Zeus throwing a thunderbolt at your phone. Unless you have the ability to run WinMo 6.5 and WM7 concurrently its idiotic to install a craptastic OS like WM7.
BTW MS says nobody uses copy and paste. I use it every freakin' day!

Im really not into big bulky texts...I hope this thing is going to have some sort of skins over it. wm7 that is. HD2 is nice iteself with the htc skin. But anyways, HTC Evo anyone?

This seems like the best phones for geeks because of another reason:detailed criticisms and why they send out fast remarks,out-burst,rants,flames, and debate about anything when looking at a good-long discussion about it
Most geeks or the other likes to move to the complex puzzles like Code Deciphering which is difficult to normal people, but actually is a very good result of Trial and Error of the known mind to look at something differently to the deciphering methods
You will need to solve a twisting series of puzzles, codes, and clues to arrive at the correct solutions. Symbolizes the word of legit or not which is solved around the office water cooler, in your highs school cafeteria, during study hall, on the beach with friends.
Just do not try solving it while driving down the road. We cannot be responsible for increased insurance premiums.More people you have working together the more obvious the answer will be

Says that most people in majority achieve something great, but in fact somebody already made that feat possible and moved on without anybody finding out about it, nobody will never likely find out in the time that they made it and nobody will know when they done it before
Nobody will never heavily rely on the proven legit facts, when nobody checks the rumors are true or not from the past or from the present to future without thinking about the smallest details and connect them from different places and look the other way in doing something like meaning the awkard places seems weird and there is nothing there, but hold some clues to finding some unlikely powerful information from unlikely people
Those who want "style" and "eye-candy" would be the considered dumb without resort of knowledge of time use of pacing themselves
The developers themselves would already find the fact of what other people say is worthless and the other stuff like copy and paste, multi-tasking would be considered useless without going into the depth of working of the parts of them.(Example just saying greetings and byes would be known as BORING to them without a need for anything else)
Why is it called multi-tasking, since you can done many stuff with it, So what about it? That's common sense of knowledge without looking that the Mutli as a serperate thing to the tasking as another serepate thing to work out differently and then put them together same to Copy and Paste does that same sense of knowledge coming from.
The last statement means you just can't solve it while working on the real life events over to another or you be wasted(or screwed) for damage:You're stumped so too bad we will not help you for the problems that seems hard in difficulty but is actually quite easy to solve under the pressure of stuff without thinking ahead of time to measure the way to do the possible way of winning through a desperate loss as the way of doing stuff
I'm conflicted now. I was going to get this as my last WinMo device but it might turn out to be my first W7PS device too. Don't know whether I want to lose TCPMP and emulator compatibility for an upgrade. Time will tell.

The only reason I have a 4.3" screen is so that I can use WM6.5 comfortably with my fingers.
The video just made me think it less important having a huge screen with WP7 as it is all so huge and bold.
I do hope this phone will go to Verizon. Please do. Itching to get off of AT&T's service and since I cannot upgrade my phone till Aug 2010, I am torn on just getting a Droid (Motorola or Eris) and switching to Verizon or waiting till i can upgrade to a 3Gs iphone.... or waiting to hear when this Wm7 will come out. Love the way Wm7 looks and feels. Like the way they are using dark backgrounds to save battery and plus, it looks cools as hell. A refreshing change from what I see out there now.
My current p.o.s phone is a Nokia 2600... so, yes.. i am in need of a nice phone, now that $ is a bit better for me.
Would appreciate some feedback on this.. Naturally, ANY smartphone will be better than what i currently have. I just would hate to go out this week only to find a great phone months from now that i cant get cuz im stuck in a 2 yr contract. So much to take into consideration.
The thing with Verizon is that i can get 20% off plans through my work.. and like 6 of my friends that i talk to constantly have Verizon.

Honestly, I was on the edge about it. My friend and I decided we like the front face of the EVO 4G better but we like the back of the HD2 much better. If they combined the simplicity of the EVO's front and the elegance of the HD2's back, it would definitely be the most beautiful phone I've ever seen!
Almost makes me want to buy the QWERTY-less and too-big-for-my-taste HD2....
