No one forget that Engadget was implicit in creating a lot of hype for a product in the middle of a lawsuit with an extremely sketchy background. Even linking to the product page and encouraging people to buy one.
So Engadget was implicit in ripping anyone who preordered one off.
@Tenkiyohou We never encourage anyone to buy anything -- and even if you stubbornly think we did, it doesn't look like we were any too successful in this case!
@Nilay Patel All the repeated "I want one" are encouraging a purchase, then all the time dedicated to Chandra with as much as a video interview from Topolsky. There were nothing but praises for this tablet without mention of the sketchiness.
And no, thankfully few people bought one because Engadget's readers are typically smarter than that. And I should clarify. I'm not accusing you Nilay, I'm accusing Topolsky. It's like he had a bitter period or something and more than hype up the JooJoo just wanted to tread on Arrington. Not that I like Arrington, just I didn't like what Topolsky was doing.
This is a blog. THEY CAN SAY WHAT THEY WANT! If they talk about it something, say that they want it, talk to the guy that created it, or do anything regarding the product, then they are only doing what blogs are meant for. Topolsky didn't rip anyone off. He didn't help with ripping anyone off. He blogged about a product. What don't you understand about this?
@Tenkiyohou There's a big leap between saying "this looks cool... I'd like to have one" and "we endorse this product and you should purchase it without using any of your own judgment or research".
@Tenkiyohou "And no, thankfully few people bought one because Engadget's readers are typically smarter than that." Typically but not in all cases. Sounds like you were suckered into buying one and this is your coming out party! People will buy what they want, and if you were dumb enough to buy one of these, then you deserve to get burned.
While its tablet world topping pixel density, Tegra 2 silicon, and fresh to death OS certainly sound awesome, we had to get our grubby mitts on one to see if it's as good as its spec sheet would have us believe.

@Tenkiyohou Josh loves everything for ten minutes and then hates it for ten years. It's charming, in a rollercoaster of emotions kind of way.
