Google steps up its April Fools game, writes Android app for the occasion
Google's known for taking April Fools' Day pranks just a little more seriously than most, but it's managed to outdo itself this year by creating a very real Android app to accompany this year's ruse that you can download right now. The concept -- Animal Translator -- is almost believable, until you realize that your average hamster doesn't have a library card to pick up Hitchhiker's Guide. Follow the break for Google's video intro.

What makes this funny, is the people actually believing that it works. Read the comments on the Marketplace. Hirarious.
@bwhite
You better be joking
@bwhite it's google, so i wouldn't put it past them to create fake users/responses to give the full effect
You almost had me there!
But what's the Ultimate Question?
Oh Google, your tomfoolery never ceases to amuse
This is why Google fu**ing rocks!
All these years I always suspected my turtle Nancy understood exactly how I felt and - I know! Luv you Googs!
Put this ad on television and you might sell some N1's Google.
(FFS advertise on TV please!)
Google's insistence that the Nexus One had multitouch even though it wasn't implemented was much funnier than this.
@MGDdrinker
Didn't they insist that it was multitouch capable, and isn't it?
@MGD
How did it not have multitouch? From the beginning there was xscope browser and that gallery, and the piano. All multitouch!
@MGDdrinker
Okay, what I should of said is: Google's reluctance to embrace multitouch on the Nexus One was funnier than this.

@MGDdrinker "I'm not a troll. I swear. April Fools!! I am!" We know, MGDdrinker, we know.
Sucks it's not on the Canadian Android Market at least when I just now searched it nothing came up.
@urs74
There's animals in Canada....?
@sirphunkee Beaver and moose and Polar Bears in the sewers
It's actually called "Translate for Animals" if you're looking for it on the Market.
