Poor Phil Dunphy...
@Alexicov his wife looks like pornstar Holly Sampson.
@Alexicov: Poor Microsoft, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Google, Palm, RIM, HTC, ASUS, Verizon, Sprint, TMo and all the other wanna-bes and bottom-feeders. The NY Times, WSJ, PC Mag, USA Today and just about everyone who is anyone just weighed in:
Apple just tore the entire tech industry a new fcuking hole.
@Ariel Bender
/s...?
@Alexicov
LMAO!!
OMGG I LOVE THIS SHOW! SO HALARIOUS
Cant wait for this episode to air later today
@abedinthehouse I've never watched this show but that clip intrigued... I'll have to head over to Hulu.com and check it out.
@Edobe
Trust me, it is one of THE funniest these days.
PS. That app almost makes you want to fall in love with the iPad.
@Alexicov
Can't top that sort of heartfelt birthday present. At least not until the iPad 3G is released. Looks like everyone in the cast will eventually have to have an iPad. Also, likely every consumer in the world that has a decent-paying job and appreciates quality products.
@abedinthehouse I know, I was thinking the same thing he was. Did that just happen.
@HurricaneDC *Googles Holly Sampson*
@Alexicov And people wonder why in 2004 (don't have newer numbers), Apple nearly doubled the marketing expenditure of Dell, HP, Gateway, and Toshiba for that year combined.
Makes you wonder if Apple products really do have as large of profit margins as people say, or if a huge chunk is marketing $ like on sodas.
@abedinthehouse Yes. .....and No.
@Ariel Bender
Damn, been sucking Jobs dick much??
@abedinthehouse Don't answer him ariel, its rude to talk with your mouth full.
@abedinthehouse
Dont feed the trolls. Down rank them. If they see no one is responding they just may quit doing it.
@abedinthehouse: You, and rest of the tech industry, can suck on this:
Andy Ihnatko: "In fact, after a week with the iPad, I’m suddenly wondering if any other company is as committed to invention as Apple. Has any other company ever demonstrated a restlessness to stray from the safe and proven, and actually invent things?"
@Ariel Bender
and just who the hell is this Andy?
What sort of recognition does he have that we should trust his word?
After all, that statement sounds a lot like an opinion to me.
@Ariel Bender
Your last post is how we know you're truly trolling. Your other posts could almost just be passed off as some 15 year old fanboy, but you just gave away that you're trolling with that one. =\
@Ariel Bender Did you just say poor Microsoft? I'll tell you this, Microsoft is a lot of things, but poor they are not. Sure, people can say what they want about their products, and whether or not Apple's are better. But the fact is that Microsoft is still one of the most profitable companies on the planet.
I'm not speaking out of opinion, or bias for one company or another. I'm simply stating the facts.
@Tronic "Poor" isn't always in reference to money
@Ariel Bender
I'm sorry, what? Apple is niche company tailoring to the rich and the stupid. Everything else you said us just wrong. Your hilarious man.
That's Julie Bowen, from Happy Gilmore fame.
And yeah, this show is freaking hilarious.
I bet it's a mock up... I didn't see modern family tonight. makes me sad. but I didn't see if they actually showed it on or not. They filmed this episode awhile ago though so I wouldnt think apple would give them one...
@vicsvenge
They gave one to Colbert just after the announcement. Probably wasn't a real one though.
Might not have even been Apple's.
@vicsvenge FWIW it looked pretty real to me, and they showed it turned on, complete with a birthday cake app where Phil blew out the candles. Also the credits indicated product supplied by Apple.
I'm just disappointed Phil got to play with it before me :(
@vicsvenge
I love this show!!!!
@Aurailious
It was a real one because when Colbert rotated the device the display rotated as well.
@vicsvenge : But you forget about the power of product placement.
@vicsvenge
I agree, it appeared to be real, they also filmed part if the episode in front of an Apple store. Plus as mentioned the credits sat provided by Apple.
I can only imagine that Apple also provided a team of black turtleneck wearning ninjas to surround the set at all times and make sure no one did anything funky with it.
that made me cringe.
@dedparrot made me wanna puke - shameless advertising. why didn't they quench their thirst with a cool coke soon after?
I'm aspiring to the day when I have a 9 year old son and I laugh at his request for something that costs over $500 for his birthday...
@Rick James
More than likely you will cringe and then give in.
@captnred
Lol, doubtful. Unless of course we have outrageous inflation and $500 is what $50 is today...on second though, I may end up eating my own words...
@Rick James
Fail. Phil is the husband in the show. The kid happened to be the one that in the end lied to get his dad the ipad. FAIL.
@Rick James troll
i have to say i've changed my opinion here. i watched the whole episode an i don't hate the show. iPad is still lame.
I thought that green line was his health bar.
Kill it! Kill it with fire!
glad i wasn't the only one
Talk about product placement bam! there it is. Modern Family is hilarious but this episode was just so so.
Poor Phil...everyone is going to touch it, regardless of what he says. :D
Haha I can't beleive I have to wait until April 11th....the wait is awful!
Naa, CGI. They probably just enlarged an iPod touch in post. ;)
I'm jealous.
I love how they devoted an episode to explaining why it isn't just a big ipod touch.
Good episode, but 30 Rock will always be the king of product placements IMO.
Too bad there wasn't a new episode of House on this week (and there won't be next week, either). House really likes him some product placement.
ABC is owned by Disney, which is partially owned by Steve P Jobs.
PS. Whoever watches this show should be castrated.
@Wesscoast
Let me guess, you're too cool to watch Arrested Development too.
@Wesscoast
Must be the only person I know of who has never watched a pixar movie.
