Kodak Slice touchscreen camera, Pulse WiFi frame, and PlaySport pocket camcorder now on sale... at JC Penney
We're not sure why Kodak is pushing its new Slice touchscreen camera out to JCPenney before any of the usual retail suspects, but there it is, looking radiant in "Radish" and marked up with a $100 premium over the usual $349 list price. If that doesn't make any sense to you, you can also grab the 14 megapixel shooter with the 3.5-inch display, 720p video capture, and built-in search for $349 from JR.com or Kodak. Kodak's also got the seven-inch Pulse WiFi digiframe that pulls photos from Facebook and the new PlaySport 1080p waterproof pocket camcorder up for sale now as well, at $129 and $149, respectively -- and yes, you can buy those from Penney's at a markup if you like, because the very fabric of our relationship to reality is unraveling in a heap on the floor of the Juniors department.

Un-true.
Its been at Best Buy for weeks now.
Geez Engadget, thought you'd get your facts straight.

@GenericMessage
Oh and the Pulse and Playsport, those prices you posted are MSRP everywhere, not a markup.
Only the Slice is a $100 extra.
@GenericMessage I see higher prices at Penney's for all of this stuff.
@Nilay Patel
But you posted "at $129 and $149"
Not the marked-up prices.
Thusly my comment.
The Kodak Slice in black has been for sale at my local Best Buy since last Friday.
@tazmond Meant to add that it's at my best buy in San Rafael, CA
@tazmond
Yeah and I bet it has been collecting dust as well.
I didnt even know JCPenny was still in business
Have you every used this camera before? Its garbage... not not even that. Kodak is the Ford Pinto of cameras. Kodak knows that their digital cameras are junk but they still sell them and seem to get worse every year.
And don't get my started on their printers...
if it were a phone it might have a chance.
@htd
"The new KodaPhone!"
"Exclusively at JCPENNY!"
Well, I won't be using my JCPenney employee discount on THIS.
As far as marking up electronics, it was (and still is, it seems) pretty common. I noticed when we were selling video games on the site/catalog a few years ago, they were marked up $5-10.
Still, I'd rather buy clothes @JCP over Macy's or Needless Markup (Niemen Marcus) anyday...and not because of my discount (although it does help!)
Okay...back to geeking out.
The Playsports been on amazon for almost 3 weeks now!
I purchased two Kodak cameras for my daughters a couple of years ago. The first one died and had to replace it with a Canon. The second one was sent in three times for free repairs from Kodak. The body screws that held the case together kept falling out. I will never buy another Kodak camera again. They were late to the digital game and their products still show this in the quality of their builds and designs. I hope Kodak reads this. They are the worst digital camera company out there. Me, I will buy Canon until they start going down hill. My A620 Canon has never failed me. Kodak just can't hold a candel to the others in this crowded digital market. Kodak you lost a customer and you deserve to lose more with crappy products.
@tjmmc
Not really true anymore. There old cameras were definitely pieces of crap. But the new ones have improved greatly in quality. The returns at stores like best buy have dropped to almost nothing. The other thing to consider is what model Kodak is in question. They have a huge range of products. The 70 dollar cams are junk and that should be expected. The 350 range are very nice. Nikon point and shoots lead that category now... If only Nikon could get the quality of their SLR's into their point and shoots...
And the new flash video cams are getting great reviews.

"The returns at stores like best buy have dropped to almost nothing."
As a Best Buy employee reading this, the first thing that came to mind was, of course there are very few returns, because we barely ever sell Kodak's. I sell probably 100 Canons and 100 Sony's for every Kodak I sell...
@DavidW
What best buy do you work at?
'cause I handle most of my states Best Buys, and Kodak is the top selling and top attached (camera and printer) in BBY for the last two years in my district.
My Best Buy has had this for over a week...
More than a point & shoot? Meh, looks like a point & shoot with high pixel count.
