We've crossed the finish line at last! How is it on the other side? You tell us! We just put down plastic for one and had it activated at the Apple Store, so stand by for pictures and videos from that unparalleled experience. The "activation" process is just plugging it into a computer with iTunes for the first time, so that you can walk out of the store with the device turned on. After the unit is up and running you can dive into the App Store, where you're prompted for a free download of iBooks. It's all smooth sailing from there.
Update: We added a gallery of shots entering The Cube, and after the break there's a video of us unboxing and activating the iPad.

i think its bad that they manage to get an unboxing and first use video after less than an hour, yet when they had the joojoo they only unboxed it because people were complaining

two things that should never happen
tablets have been out for ages, tablets better than this have been out for ages, why this is the tablet revolution i dont know
flash is great, and its downfall is FAR from near, if you read anything apart from apple news youd know that. (read about chrome having native flash, THEN tell me its the downfall of flash :P)

I was watching Today in New York today before work, and despite their best efforts at making it look like the line was long, there were CLEARLY more media and onlookers than there were line standees. By a wide margin.

@HoldenMccrotch Yes, tablets exist, but i think that iPad is lightest and with best autonomy. There are win7 tablets but they are twice as heavy and have autonomy of, like, 2 hours. If iPad had USB port and microsd card reader and full browser - it would be great peace of hardware.
@condimentstation I don't think keyboard USB can be used to sync it's lower speed and lower voltage pretty much only likes mice.

The noobjoob is a piece of junk and you all know it. The only reason you show any interest in it is because it's similar, lacks an Apple logo, and is being released around the time Apple is setting to release one of the biggest, really only behind the new iPhone in June, hardware releases of the year. By the way, why are all Apple Store employees hipsters? This guy's a prime example of that. Also, it kinda sucks that Apple doesn't let their own employees play with the device for a reasonable time before the launch. How do they expect people to sell them when these guys have only played with them for 10 minutes? But then again, Apple products sell like hotcakes anyways, so I guess prior training is not necessary.
