@Yoda Apple TV failed because it deviated from Apple's branding scheme -- now, if it was called iTV... -- anyway, Apple learned their lesson, iPad not Apple Pad, and therefore it is guaranteed success, so decrees the almighty Steve Jobs
Totally true. Of course the medias such as New York Times are giving the iPad such positive reviews because they want people to subscribe to their apps.
@semblance Yep the media is really pushing it.I guess they think it's the savior of their industry,as far as i'm concerned it's just another device for people to consume stolen and free content.
@DirtyVegas What BGR doesn't mention is that the number is an estimate based, iirc, primarily on past figures, which do not necessarily reflect this particular volley or preorders... in other words they pulled the number out of thin air and no one save Apple knows the actual figure.
Actually, you are wrong. People are excited about the iPad. It's not media hype. Just because the lines aren't long, right now, don't mean it won't be a different scene, tomorrow. Also, the fact that there are a great deal of pre-orders, people don't have to stand in line. I think it's so funny that people can't accept that Apple has created another great product, that people want. They have to try to dismiss Apple and their success, any chance they can, because, for some odd reason, it makes them feel better about themselves. Pathetic!
@semblance People have preordered their iPads and get them delivered to their doorsteps, so why wait in line at the store? That wasn't an option with the iPhone. That's the reason why you don't see a lot of people lining up for the iPad.
@Ducman69 There's nothing liberal about huge corporations like ABC airing what is effectively a 30 minute advertisement for this product. A product with a closed ecosystem that allows corporations like ABC to keep a stranglehold on their content.

@semblance
For real... imagine if there was no media hype over this... it'd end up like Apple TV
@Yoda
Whats Apple TV?
@BlackedOut
It's like QVC, I think?
@semblance
ATV, you know Quads and dirtbikes and stuff.

@semblance
I think people are excited about a tablet that, you know, actually exists.
@Yoda
Totally true. Of course the medias such as New York Times are giving the iPad such positive reviews because they want people to subscribe to their apps.
@semblance
Yea there is a lot of press on this thing. I'm partially tired of it all and just want the damn thing to just come out already.
@semblance
The ipad has already scored 150k pre-orders. Little more than hype, I would say.
Not an apple/ipad fan at all, but I like facts and figures.

@HighestRanked2 iDoubt iTV in the UK was the reason; look at iPhone and iPad -- lawsuits didnt stop apple there...
@semblance You don't love the tune hte liberal media is chanting?
"iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad, MA-GI-CAL snake snaaake snaaake o-ooo it's a snake, iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad, iPad."
Gotta admit, its catchy.
@DirtyVegas
And that was 2 weeks ago... it's probably 250k or more by now.
@Ducman69
Wait, so the iPad is now some sort of political statement? I'm confused.
@badasscat this should clear things up.. badgerbadgerbadger.com

I just wonder how much of the so-called pre-orders percentage is actually make-believe?
(Don't you, the fanbois, tell me it is not possible to generate fake trade figures. I know what I am talking about)
Media hype or not, the next few weeks will be full of iPad news that we can all do without.
@semblance Betamax

@eko2 they cant call it itv because that is the name of the biggest tv broadcasting company in the UK after BBC of course!!
