iPad OS digging reveals hints of future iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Nessie
Well, well -- what have we here? A little digging into the mainframe that lies beneath Apple's freshly launched iPad has uncovered a few telltale signs of next-generation hardware, and while this is obviously in no way confirmation that new wares are on the way from Cupertino, this kind of stuff has led to similar reveals in the past. If we're seeing this right, we're looking at not one, but two new mentions of future iPhones (iPhone 3,2 and iPhone 3,3), alongside a new iPod touch (iPod 4,1) and... a future iPad (iProd 2,1). 'Course, none of this gives us any indication of the all-important whos or whens, but at least this confirms that mythical creatures still exist in the hearts of those who believe.

@jdm28690 That keeps getting more and more ridiculous.
@GaryP1
dude, they had a post where if you follow a link, there will be no more ipad news. and "im a pc" but i think its cool and it definately deserves attention, whether or not there is a front-facing camera.
@jdm28690
It seems that for the next 4 years steve will continue to wear the same clothes.... seriously does he ever wear anything else?!
@ jdm28690
he is a Billionaire, when you can afford anything, you only want what makes you most comfortable
@Eli Haj
I upranked you just because of the last sentence! :P
@Eli Haj
No next is a courier with 1000 screens
@jdm28690
1) too much freakin apple news
2) this is a bs story, someone sends in a fake pic of nothing and another cheap excuse for yet ANOTHER frickin apple post!
Hell i could send in a tip off that Jobs is riding a huge plastic penis in malibu and it would be posted :-(
@jdm28690
Don't worry guys, I'm already working on a "twister" app for the iMat
@jdm28690
What is the iProd ???????
LMAO @ "iMat"
Perfect for an iTwister app, eh? :P~
You mean to say Ipod 4.1 for Ipod?
@ZinG No, while current iPhones and iPod Touches will likely receive OS 4.x, 4,1 means 4th version, 1st revision (so that would mean a new iPod Touch).
@ZinG They also mean iProd 2,1 for the next iPad not 4,1.
iPad 2.0 will run Crysis and twitter at the same time. Second revision FTW.
The 3 iPhone models will become like the Macs:
iPhone Spastic - you're too poor and dumb to get a good job so you get the cheapest model and it's crippled beyond belief. They'll put the home button on the back or something.
iPhone Upper Middle-Class - you're a spoiled rich kid who likes to let everyone know you can afford nice things and not sweat about it and you've paid enough money to get features spastic edition should have had anyway.
iPhone Pro - wow, you've made it to professional status. Even if you just check email professionally, you know you are a cut above the rest. The Apple logo will glow to let people know you are one of the chosen few. You're always welcome at the Apple Store big spender.
well we all know that they will be releasing something new, in the future, so this isnt that nuts. (no offense)
@boom roasted
I agree. If this actually told us what was going to be in the models, this post would be MUCH more exciting
iProd? Is that a typo?
@One Love
iProd is not a typro
@One Love
I think it might be like a "variable". Like short for some iProduct.
@Toshi
Apparently Apple has been supplying the aliens this for years, in exchange for futuristic magic.
@One Love
iProd is an ID for iPad.
So new iPads.
@RDM There's already a mention for iPad on there.
@Nick Starchild
An unreleased iPad of course.
The released iPad today has an 1,1 ID as you can see on that list.
@Nick Starchild
The iPad1,1 used to be iProd1,1 before.
@Toshi lol, I think I saw one of those at the apple store today. :)
@One Love - It's just another iProduct which hasn't yet been named. It could be the next iPad but Apple didn't want to give it away just yet...
@One Love
Why are we presuming the "iProd 2,1" is a new iPad?
When the current iPad is listed as "iPad 1,1"...
@FORDY It could be a completely different product but that being the case, it wouldn't be 2,1, just 1,1 - you wouldn't launch a product at the second revision. Plus iPad 1,1 was called iProd.
They were probably going to name the device the iProductive Slate Pro but then realized it's just a big iPod and not so great for typing on so went with iPad instead.
When are we getting breaking news about the iPad having half the RAM of the Nexus One btw?
It does not reveal anything. It just says dictionary
@staticjethro
Once again, I totally agree. What is dictionary supposed to say anyway?
IPROD 2.1, Wat is that about?
@shoxite
and so it begins.
@shoxite For real wtf is the iProd
@shoxite G2 iPad.
@theinternetstom it's just a place holder. iPad had this about a year ago.
@shoxite Apple is merely proving it understands the market very well: As it becomes more saturated with electronics, potential customers are more likely to become fat and lazy, and content to stay with what they already have. Thus, Apple has already realized that more direct stimulation of the consumer will be necessary.
Thus, the iCattleProd. Or iProd for short.
@Bakaneko Ha. I was thinking that... But on a serious note, I just want to know what they will do with the iPod touch this September(you can read Apple like one of their digital books). I've been on the fence FOREVER.
Whew for a minute there I thought Apple was ready to throw in the towel...it's good to know they'll at least follow up like they've always done and release a new model each year with slightly updated specs.

iPhone 3,2 (4th Gen GSM?) iPhone 3,3 (4th Gen CDMA?????)
Warning: OFF TOPIC MESSAGE!
Hey engadget you've got this really annoying flash advert at the top of the page that pops down when you roll over it (at least in the UK). The problem isin't that it rolls down, its that it stays down until you re-interact with it, making it just irritating, and now I actually hate this camera by association much like a hate all products from companies who were dumb enough to sign off on really annoying adverts.
As this advert is really really easy to trigger accidentally, its visually as annoying as the talking smiley adverts ("Oh My god! No Way!") and the Fly swatter adverts ("BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ") were audibly.
Love the site though :)
Oh, and I suppose this rant's probably aimed more at AOL who no doubt control the advertising (Your old CD's snapped in half, and positioned to reflect the light randomly, are keeping my strawberries safe from passing birds to this day. Thank you.).
@sshole
Hey.... Oh, I just wanted to see your username.
Bye!
(don't use Aol anymore...)
@sshole
post of the day
@sshole weird....I don't have that problem on my iPad
@sshole Ever hear of a wonderful firefox extension called NoScript? Check it out. It seems like you'd enjoy it.
yeah....... ipoop...........on ipad
@XRX what does that even mean? trolls put no effort into trolling these days. though I suppose that's the point.
iProd proves that Apple is responsible for some of these KIRFs floating around.
iProd = Engrish iPod...
The terrorists have won
1,1 = iPhone
1,2 = iPhone 3G
2,1 = iPhone 3GS
I think there's actually three new iPhones mentions, not just two. Unless what I wrote above is the wrong timeline.
Maybe iphone 3.2 is iphone os and iphone 3.3 is an android.
jk
I always find posts like this a little weird. I me obviously they are going to come out with new iPhones and iPad, it's basically given. I guess the more interesting part is that Apple even reveals that something is even coming, knowing how secretive they are.
When people find stuff like this, it's only really interesting when there is something new we've never seen before. (Ex. iPad before we new what it was.)
