ATTENTION: The iPad is now awesome.
@Jon Rubenstein AGREED.
@Jon Rubenstein ATTENTION: The iPad is now less worthless
@Jon Rubenstein
Now Apple will double sales!
@Jon Rubenstein
lets see if Apple can turn a blind eye on that.
This means less profit from apps right from the start lolz
PS: OFFTOPIC: I support Sony's decision to delete Linux from PS3 due to hackability, down with illegal games copying (or something like that lol)
@Jon Rubenstein
The iPhone Dev Team are friggin awesome!
@Jon Rubenstein
Isn't it a bit sad that it takes a nerd to do something that Apple really should have done in the first place?
But, yeah, interest levels rising....
@kiyu727
hardly, I imagine that only a similar % of people will jailbreak their ipads that do their iphones. There is a much bigger world out there outside of geek world. (i know, i still have some of my mail delivered there)
@t2af
Nope. The problem with jailbreaking your iphone is that you might ruin it for it's primary purpose: being a phone. Jailbreaking a PC is much more interesting and less likely to destroy it's primary function.
@jedi
does anyone even KNOW of the main function of the ipad? IS there one?
@d889
function # 1: showing off
function # 2: showing off
function # 3: showing off
@Jon Rubenstein
Well at least we won't have to worry about SIM unlock.
That's cool. Also I can see some of the great things the jailbreakers can come up with. I hope Apple can chill out on the hacking/improving community with the iPad. By that I mean quit releasing updates every other month to break jailbreaks...
@Dig Deep
I take that back. We probably will have to worry about SIM unlocks with the 3G version.
Actually apple has promised unlocked ipads for all 3g ipads, the only thing stopping you from using tmobile is different frequencies
@Jon Rubenstein
Damn it, now I have to buy one...
@MarkAnderson
What, getting a Unix prompt??? Next will be a vi editor for creating documents.
YAY! Winterboard themes & free apps!
@MarkAnderson
It's also a bit sad that Android owners haveto hack their devices to get a software update.
Isn't it?
@Jon Rubenstein
IF ONLY..... if only it had the hardware to benefit from the jailbreak (e.g. front camera, HD decoder....)
But yeah multitasking it now officially on iPad.
@SolidSnake He's gone again! Josh must be more of a Trek fan.
@suicidebob
This topic is about the iPad, son. Stay focused.
@t2af Very true. Bot those that don't jailbreak, or don't even know about it are the primary market for the iPad. So no-harm no-foul.
@MarkAnderson
Yes. Let's only compare when it suits the argument, eh? Keep those blinkers on.
Amdroid, this great open source OS. 85% of it's users are running old versions, 10% get the update 3 months late, and only 5% get it when they're supposed to to. But they can get it early if they hack and invalidate their warranty!
Brilliant
@Jon Rubenstein - It will become awesome when you can run flash via some 3rd party Big Boss, Cydia, Rock hosted App/browser. Sayin...
@Nintendo Tim
Jep, me too. Nice!
@MarkAnderson but wasn't it inevitable that the iPhoneDevTeam were gonna deliver once again?
@Almo Just think off all the App store developers you can rip off.
Support slavery, steal software.
@suicidebob
No let's just keep it relevant. Android has f**k all to do with this conversation. If you want to rant go and do it in an Android topic.
@hill60: nice high-horse ya have there. so you've never downloaded a free episode of a tv show? not a single song off of the internet that wasn't meant to be free? a movie? artwork that you wanted to use on your phone?
not everyone uses it for piracy. when I had my iphone I jailbroke it so that I could BUY a program for setting my own ringers for emails and texts. I also wanted it so that I could fit more icons on the springboard and have wallpapers behind them. I also wanted to be able to see more of the cool wallpapers I put on the phone on the unlock screen (so I got winterboard plugins for removing the excess stuff from the unlock screen).
I bought all of my apps from the app store.
not everyone jailbreaks for the reasons you want to assume.
@Jon Rubenstein
i want to know when someone ports windows xp to the ipad
dont know if its possible but ever since i saw the processor was 1ghz i though plz let this happen
@Jon Rubenstein For me it would be awesome if it would have had flash, multitasking and some USB's
@hill60 At $10 for what's basically a bigger iPhone game yes I support jailbreaking. The developers are getting greedy now.
@t2af : Not really. I have no desire to jailbreak my phone, as its a piece of tech that I don't want to have random problems with. The iPad, on the other hand, I would hack to pieces since its primary function in entertainment/information.
@Xcelerate musclenerd should sue for damages gains.
@rob47 I couldnt disagree more. If you knew exactly the time and effort that went into producing these applications then maybe you would understand. Few developers are greedy, and those that are certainly dont deserve to have their applications pirated. If you think it isnt worth it, dont buy it.
@suicidebob uhhh, no. It's a little sad that ipod touch and ipad owners have to PAY for software updates and have to be plugged into itunes whilst android owners get it for free OTA. Check up on your facts boy.
@d889 The main purpose of fondling a 10" hard object in public is to show everyone what a small dick the owner has.
So much for Apple's security.
@L
The iPhone has been jailbroken how many times after how many firmware updates?
Or am I reading this wrong? Are you saying that it is no longer secure since everyone will jailbreak and open up their closed system to malicious attacks by bad people? Or that since the iPad was so easy to jailbreak that it is not secure? If so, I hope you know that it is basically running iPhone OS. It was jailbroken before it even hit the shelves.
@L Something in your physical possession that you have access to thru USB can only be so secure...
@justinpe
Oh I was just making a snide comment that Apple still can't get security right after they've had years to work on the platform.
And to darksharpie, that may very well be true but for the iPad's security to be broken into within days is just ridiculous.
@L
iPhone OS has been around for 3 years and jailbroken after several patches. This guy didn't do this in a single day.
@L
Guess 'snide comment' is correct, considering everything else you said after it was pretty worthless.
Did you know you still get malware and viruses on Windows machines? Why haven't Microsoft fixed that? They've only had about15 years
@suicidebob
I believe the point was to debunk the Apple myth of being the safest thing on the planet. (or so their commercials like to state)
Either way, I'd still like more done to see if this camera-less tablet will be worth it for me.
@strikethree
I'm pretty sure there's a lot of falsehoods in advertising, not just Apple's.
@suicidebob You are not apple's mom - stop defending it as such
@L I just hope it'll work on my 3GS with the newer bootrom.
Now we will see the full potential...
@maherelharake
No Flash = No Full Potential.
@maherelharake
Totally. The iPhone/iPod touch jailbreak brought about muiltitasking (Circuitous and ProSwitcher) and flash (imobilecinema on 2.x). Now there will be full access to the iPad's true potential, or at least enough to quiet those who hate.
