Microsoft invites us to mystery event, April 12th! (update: for Pink phones?)
Well... we don't know what to make of this one. Microsoft just snail-mailed us a circular package with an invitation to an event on April 12th in San Francisco. They also tell us that it's "time to share," and apparently intend that sharing to go on between young, attractive Urban Outfitters models (according to the images on the notice). Okay. So what is this? Pink? Courier (gasp!)? Windows Phone 7 Series Phone Series 7? Only Microsoft knows for sure. We're searching for more info, so stay tuned! One more pic after the break.
Update: Windows expert Paul Thurrott says definitively that this will not be a Courier event, rather it will be entirely focused on Pink phones, as does CNET's Ina Fried, who adds that they'll be released on Verizon as rumored. We can't say we're surprised, but we're seriously hoping Microsoft makes that tablet a reality.
[Thanks, Kevin]

"Time to share" smells alot more of Sidekick 2.0 then it does of Courier.
im thinking this isnt going to only be for one product. Many of the demos showed for windows phone 7, xbox 360, pc, zune hd, have all had some sort of connectivity with eachother. I think they are bringing the big guns to show how they all work together.
I would also agree that it will cause ripples in the world of technology if they announce the MS "Courier" as a "cherry on top"
well have to see
@Narao
You may be on to something there - a (proper) demonstration of how the Xbox, Zune and forthcoming Win Phones share between each other would probably be a good thing to provide right now.
However, I'd love to see them announce Courier, even if it's not coming for a while yet, just to show people what a Tablet could and should be doing, and also kill off some of Apple's potential custom for the iPad.
Come on guys THINK HArder! we are all uber nerds here we can figure it out!,ITs time to shares a good hint ,so far all we got is vs201,office2010,natal,windows phone 7,windows8,pink,courier,xbox 360 16gb flashcard update ,zune hd64 what else can it be ?
MS!!!! Give me Courier, I don't want iPad.. I don't want to spend excessive monety on contents that I already have in other format and on some stupid programs
IT IS OFFICIAL: IT IS A PHONE !
@rcc How do you know its a phone
The fonts remind me of Courier. Let's see what this is about.
Windows Home Server v2?
"It's time to share" ... a new Ceton card within my home network...
CONFIRMATION this is Win 7 handset announcement....sorry no Courier folks.

The Zune 64GB was already announced on their website so there's no need for a special event for it... Hopefully we're being lied too and it is for the Courier.
I think it could be an SDK for Zune HD and yeah maybe Courier too.
What is Pink?
"It's time to share" means that "squirting" wasn't enough, so now they're adding new features: "Jizzing" "Skeet Skeet", and "All Up In Yo Mama's Ass".
Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer was quoted as saying, "We think these new features will really penetrate our audience and show them a good time. At Microsoft, we like to think we're hip with the kids these days, so we wanted to give our products an artificial insemination of awesome."
The launch of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010? :)

2 things
1. can I come?
2. can we get some one from the CSI lab to look at the image and let us know what is there? lol
would love it to be the Courier, but I think Pink or the new OS are more lightly
pink? Who cares. Wake me when they announce courier.
and I know that I made a spelling error or 3 lol
With all this pent-up excitement, Courier is approaching unicorn status.
I think by "sharing", MS is saying we now want to share the devices that have been in secrecy so long (Pink and Courier) and created an event to bring them out in style.
Courier would be awesome, but the green on the note may be a sign for the release of the Xbox 360 "slim". either way its sure to be something worth finding out about
It's going to be about slates and the 64gb Zune HD.
Pink phones? Bleh. The excitement in the conference was over before it started.
Why is it that the ONE product Microsoft could possibly make (the Courier) that could generate iPad-levels of excitement, Microsoft chooses to do NOTHING with.
Idiots.
Pink phones, FAIL!
Maybe they'll at least release another video...I need another fix, man!! Ok, bye-bye,now
Have any of you actually used a device that let's you use your own handwriting? It looks horrible, even if you have very clear handwriting.
I only mention this because of all the people talking about the Courier on this post about the upcoming Pink announcement.
Looks like Visual Studio 10 Will also be launched at this event.

@XSpantX Oops, you already pointed out the new VS!
I actually heard from an insider that it is a new version of minesweeper with high score sharing via email.
Windows Home Server 2.0
Bummer, looks like I'll have to settle with the HP Slate.
Read the update...I find it VERY had to believe that Microsoft is holding a "surprise" event just to announce... "the Pink phone"? WTF? I'm happy for you Microsoft and I'm gonna let you finish but don't screw up your hot streak with that POS.
I can't imagine Microsoft holding a press conference to announce low-end smart phones right after Apple launches the iPad. That would be like holding a press conference to announce that you made a sandwich a week after your brother announced that he cured cancer. Secondly, the "Share" motif appears in both Courier videos. And lastly, the cryptic message was "delivered" in the form of a courier's tube. I don't know -- maybe it's just wishful thinking.
please be courier
If MS had a working prototype of the courier that approximates what we see in the rendered demo, they would not be pussyfooting around like this.
I look forward to the courier as well, but whilst we may see it eventuate, I cant see it being priced anywhere near the ipad. True handwriting support needs a digitised display, surely...... which costs.
A7
They really don't need a press conference for the Pink phones. It seems the teen market is already won over. Good luck getting market share though.
COURIER!!!! One thing Microsoft actually did right. Those previews are so good i jizz a little bit in my pants whenever i see it.
Microsoft, please make that thing into a reality and don't disappoint us! I Love apple i really do. All my computers are macs. but seriously, as a creative person, courier just beats ipad hands down.
Where is my engadget Microsoft OPT OUT option? LOL
It may be the new Visual Studio, launch date is on the 12th:
http://www.microsoft.com/australia/visualstudio/products/2010/default.mspx#launch
Visual Studio 2010 releases on the same date
it's the 64 GB zune hd
Apple's Press conference was pretty sweet. Everyone else better step their game up. Microsoft better release something extraordinary like the courier to stay relevant on Monday.
hmmmm... The way the invite is delivered is peculiar as noted by Joshua. A package of importance is normally delivered by a Courier.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courier
Hopfully its the zune phone runnnig windows phone 7
