oooo I'm so excited! Finally some news that's more relevant to MY kind of lifestyle. I'm guessing it's just for Windows Phone 7 or pink (which runs Phone 7's underlying OS).
I think MS is bringing us pneumatic tube communications for the 21st century. Write something on paper, drop it off in a tube and it will be whisked away to the nearest processing centre, where the message will be tweeted, facebooked and/or emailed etc, based on which you checked off.
"It's Time to Share" seems to imply Zune service or something similar for Win Phone 7.
That said, the Courier demo did have sharing a publishing as an element but I wouldn't consider it the overriding theme (unless it's about sharing in the sense that the user was lifting materials from all around her).
@aleis Honestly, I came here to say that if it's anything like their latest announcements count me out. But Courier? It goes double for! So, I guess, yes I'll tune in (previously thought "No, I won't tune in [to Engadget/live feed]).
I don't like the iPad .. but Courier doesn't seem that great either if the screens are only 7 inches .. web browsing could be a bit less convenient. Also the devices lack 3G .. which is a total bummer.
I'm more interested if they make a decent tablet OS for other tablet makers use.
Anyway I doubt this is Courier they are announcing .. sounds more like some silly collaboration tool. The excitement builds around the announcement only because people think it's something else.
@gpsxsirus Additionally, it's not event worthy and would lose MS credibility in their future events while gaining them insults...wouldn't be happening even if we didn't have a 64GB ship date.
@aleis The aesthetic motif of the flyer suggests Pink, but my heart wants it to be Courier (Mac support too, please, I love Apple stuff but this is on a whole different level than the iPad! Microsoft is on a roll lately).
@LAY I would bet against it, but for bringing up something different and using massive creativity in finding it out I gotta give you an ole [net] pat on the back.
@LAY Interesting idea Lay, except that they just released a new OS and wouldn't want to quash sales of it for the system to come out afterwards. Also, green is pretty common for the xbox marketing world.
@aleis hey how about some 360 updates while you are at it? My 360 died last month and I am holding off till the update, I'd be glad to burn some more money if you release it soon.
@aleis Courier.. Courier.. Courier.. Courier.. I want that so badly to be announced as an official soon to be released product.. Based on what the concept videos have shown, this would be the ideal tablet for me..
PS: I hope Jim Courier does not end up announcing his return to tennis after all this.. :D
Hmm! Good one, if it wasn't for the kids pics I would have believed that too
Midori and sharing: "The basis for the platform centers around research related to Microsoft's Singularity project, and envisions a distributed environment where applications, documents, and connectivity are blurred in a cloud-computing phantasmagoria which can be run natively or hosted across multiple systems. The researchers are working to create a concurrent / parallel distribution of resources, as well as a method of handling applications across separate machines"
But sharing and having tubes delivered to you is communication, + kids pics and my guess goes to Pink/Danger thingy
The font on the invite (It's Time To Share) seems very similar to the font used in the Courier UI in the videos we've seen. I dont know if that font is special to that device or it's the standard one MS just likes to use.
@aleis For god sakes calm down you might jizz your pants!
Am I the only one thinking this announcement is NOTHING to do with Courier or Win7 Phone? Think about it 'SHARE' is the keyword here therefore.....
I personally think it will be a beta release of Windows Live Wave 4....the next release of Live Services (Photo, Mail, Messenger etc.) with integration with Office Web 2010 and Skydrive.
What can hold up to 16,000 songs, or 20 hours of high definition video, or 25,000 pictures? A Zune HD 64GB that’s what! This morning we announced that starting April 12th you will be able to order a 64GB version Zune HD from Zune Originals for $349.99. All colors and custom etching will be available for you to create the ultimate Zune HD to your liking. In addition to the new capacity, we are lowering the estimated retail price on the Zune HD 16GB to $199.99 and Zune HD 32GB to $269.99...
@MrDiSante Haha, thought I thought the same at first.. I believe the pictures on the front of the invitation don't really fit that product demographic as much as it would be nice if they did.
@aleis God this better not be a Zune. If this isn't the Courier the people attending this event should riot. Torches and pitch forks will be available at the door
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
umm...may!
Courier! Courier! Courier! :)

I'm psyched for the ipad, but if this is the courier...
@aleis
Please be Courier. Please be Courier. That thing looks awesome.
@aleis
Maybe they're going to open up Courier demos via Natal!
@aleis Please be courier. Please be under £300. Please make it exactly like in the video, with the same hardware. Please make it mac compatible.
@aleis
iMicrosoft
CALLED IT!!!
amirite
or amirite?
I know right?
@aleis: I say you're all wrong.

But you've piqued my interest.
But MS, I've got my guard up this time!

64 gb zune
@n0ne
ummm.... You sound like an overly excited junior high girl.
@aleis Xbox 360 as Set-Top Box for U-verse Finally!!!
I will also Welcome Courier and Natal.
@aleis

@aleis
Guys I think I may have something here.
look at the main color on the invite.
It's GREEN.
I searched for Green in different languages.
Green in Japanese is Midori.
Remember Microsoft Midori?
http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/30/microsofts-midori-a-future-without-windows/
Hmmmmm. Just tossing that out there.
@aleis
In San Francisco. Are they kidding me, now they're travelling to the other coast of the USA, straight into the "Holy Grail" hometown of Apple?
@btrap While I think the 64GB ZuneHD is a great thing, it goes on sale 3 days before the 'Time to Share' event.
@btrap
Sad truth is sad.
@btrap A 64gb zune alone isn't really a good reason to call a big press event for... i'm hoping COURIER!!!!!!!!!! pleez!
@Q3Km518
Web and video must be awesome on the Courier with its 2 screens.
@LAY green is also the primary color for the XBox brand.
It's probably Pink. The green accents and the kids on the front. Compare that to this article http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/16/microsofts-turtle-and-pure-phones-linked-to-tegra-chipset/
@LAY I would bet against it, but for bringing up something different and using massive creativity in finding it out I gotta give you an ole [net] pat on the back.
Not that my voice needs to be added to the rest here, but...
Courier! Please!
@aleis
GO Courier!
I'd much rather that than the iPad
OH PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SCIENCE, AND MOTHER EARTH BE THE COURIER!!!!!!!!!!!!
@LAY
Interesting idea Lay, except that they just released a new OS and wouldn't want to quash sales of it for the system to come out afterwards. Also, green is pretty common for the xbox marketing world.

@cwalters74 "It's Windows Phone 7 Series Phone Series 7 Is Not Windows Mobile Series Mobile Windows" actually
@aleis
My bet would be an app... for the iPad!
\sarcasm
@aleis
Ok, this is observation #2 (bit of a stretch)
The font on the invite (It's Time To Share) seems very similar to the font used in the Courier UI in the videos we've seen. I dont know if that font is special to that device or it's the standard one MS just likes to use.
@JS
youre picking apart vapourware XD
I doubt this will be MS phone 7, after all thats already been 'released' so it makes me think of either courier ar the pink phone thingymabob
but jeez id love the courier :D
@aleis Courier is vapour-ware. It's not happening any time soon.
@Niklasnick
Other coast? They're both on the West Coast, dork. And Holy Grail? WTF? What the hell kind of crack you smokin, boy?
@tonicboy
Visual Studio 2010.

Zune HD 64GB Coming April 12

@aleis Make this the courier tablet, and I'm so in for this event. this will be sweet... http://bit.ly/tablet-courier-for-the-win
@MrDiSante Haha, thought I thought the same at first.. I believe the pictures on the front of the invitation don't really fit that product demographic as much as it would be nice if they did.
Like Angelina Jolie in Hackers? Mmmm.
@willowtwf I hope it isn't just a 64GB zune. That would be a massive massive let down.
Courier >>> Zune 64GB
@aleis That would be awesome. So awesome, I'd J177 on its face.
@Niklasnick Um you do realize that Microsoft is located in Washington State not Washington DC right?
@aleis God this better not be a Zune. If this isn't the Courier the people attending this event should riot. Torches and pitch forks will be available at the door
@Niklasnick Other coast? Huh? Seattle/Redmond and Cupertino are both on the West Coast of the U.S.
@PaladinX13 Sadly and unfortunately, I tend to agree with you. Maybe next time...
@aleis
"Time to Share", gives me the impression of a courier event. If I'm a lucky bastard, we might also see project pink.
