HTC's
HD2 is the hottest piece of WinMo of the moment, and ever since it got the nod for an (unofficial)
update to Windows Phone 7 it's been looking all the more tasty. Now it's getting more affordable too -- if you happen to have an iPhone you're willing to give up. T-Mobile appears to be running a promotion at certain locations through May 19 that would give between $100 and $350 off of a new HD2 for anyone trading in a working handset. Frankly we don't figure too many dedicated iPhoners will be taking this opportunity to hop onto the Windows Mobile train but, if you can get yourself a cheap old handset from a friend who upgraded, you might just be able to snag yourself a hefty discount on a hunky new smartphone.
@Sean76 They want your device because they give the option to buy these unlocked. If they sell these unlocked and don't get something of nearly equal collateral in return then they will take losses when people just want to sell these on Ebay for a profit, without signing a new customer.
@futurerheza have the hd2.... id rather have kept my iphone...
If they were offering a trade for the HD2 T9193 NextG version, then I would do it just to get a feel for the phone. I want to part with my 3GS, but still need a good phone to take advantage of 3G speeds on ATT. In any case, my eyes are set on the EVO 4G. Too bad Sprint cannot make this type of offer available to iPhone users.
Why would the display of my iPhone be leaking?
And whats the difference between "damaged" and "broken"?
@dennyengster that is because you have not gone to xda yet and tried one of those delicious energyROMs. I switched from the iPhone as well, and I prefer the HD2.
Oh man. Phone beautiful but windows killing it. I got me one. Used it for 5 days and couldn't handle the choppiness and rebooting the phone every 3-4 hours. Maybe if u make calls only but if u hardcore use the phone it would get slow and crappy. Reminded me my first audiovox windows phone. Anyway. Phone take pictures amazing that's what pretty much was holding me to it. I did some tweaks like BsB tweaks to make it better but still choppy. Phone is so powerfull I just can't beleive HTC loaded windows instead of android. I'm praying. For someone to make a android ROM for the htc. For now I turned off and back using 3GS.no a single handset is worth a headache.
Is this for real? Anyone go into a T-Mo store and confirmed it's not some late April Fool's? If true, it's too bad I don't have my iphone anymore... would have been tempting...
@skyblaze
Gee the time I found a lost phone, or misplaced phone, I brought it to the carrier branded store who got it back to the owner.
Don't even think about giving them ur 3GS U gonna regreat foreva
Going from an iPhone to a Windows Mobile device. Yeah, that won't end in tears, cursing, screaming, and eventually device smashing.
@GldRush98 Tell me about it. That's exactly what I did. I can't fucking stand the keyboard. Most of the time I have to use it like a Storm, which I'm guessing can't be good for the screen.
@Versed
he tried giving it to the store he found it in just in case the owner came back looking for it but they wouldn't keep it... not sure if he tried the carrier thing though
amazon has this phone in stock... are those not the same??? i keep seeing people saying this phone is sold out everywhere.
What if say Sprint or TMobile would start offering to cover you early cancellation penalty if you would switch to their network. Then Verizon and ATT would do the same, so you could switch around all the time. Wouldn't that be great.
Put Android on the HD2 and I might be interested... obsolete stupid cludgy Winmo? no way
I would do it. If WPS7 was available. I couldnt deal with winmo until then. I'd go insane...
Nice, My iphone battery is almost die off, and my at&t contract is expire end in few weeks, I am planning to goes to T-mobile anyway and use that promotion.
I would trade in my iphone in a heartbeat for an android phone.
WinMo, not a chance.
I'm mad. Cause I definitely just bought the HD2 like 2 weeks ago, and had an iPhone when said purchase was being made.
I wonder what they're going to do with the old iPhones. I passed my 3G to my GF, unlocked to work on T-mo. Maybe it's time for her to trade.
I got an HD2 and love it! just wish it had free turn by turn gps like android
@skyblaze
Look for a contact named "mom". I used to walk by a high school to work everyday and I can't tell you how many "moms" i ended up calling a year.
Dang kids don't know anything about valuables these days
What if it does NOT turn on? Just my luck!
I'm Brazilian, but I would like to exchange my 3gs black 16gb 3.1.3 firmware, 2 months use with a HTC HD2. Do you think they would change with foreign users, or just on USA??
@dennyengster I got the HD2 , would not trade it for iphone .
I prefer the bigger screen, better looks and feel and the fact that I don't itunes for it.
recyclerebates.com is what site that rep told me to go to. I go to the site and put in my iphone model (3g 8gb) and they say that my phone is worth $145.......fuck that!!! im selling it on ebay!!!
sriously is this real, there is a spelling mistake in the first word of this press release!!!
I am not doing well with my argument with it being the second word and not the frist. Oh well, thats life.
Wait.... I thought T-Mobile made it mandatory to have data plans on smartphones to get discounts (I've heard if you go contractless and pay the full price you could avoid that). But it says on their, data plans aren't required but encouraged? I'm moving to T-Mobile just because of that, not the promo, though I do fancy the HD2.
@futurerheza
time to search ebay
Huh? They're 2 totally different beasts.
HD2 cannot replace iPhone and vice versa.
