Pentax Optio I-10, Nikon S3000 and Canon PowerShot SX210 IS seen in the wild
'Tis a nice day to dream about how much you could capture with a shiny new point-and-shoot, isn't it? Our best buds over at Engadget Chinese were recently able to swing by an exhibition far, far away from US shores in order to catch some of the Spring's finest new pocket shooters in action. The standouts? Canon's succulent PowerShot SX210 IS (spotted in a variety of hues), Nikon's 12 megapixel Coolpix S3000 and Pentax's Optio I-10. We'll confess -- that I-10 really has our number, and its retro styling and accompanying leather case could find its way into our pockets any day. Just sayin', is all. ummmm.... the best buy I work at has had the canon sx210 in stock for about 2 weeks now... sweet little camera btw
@fizzlefist sorry, forgot to mention it, nikon s3000 as well
@fizzlefist Same here, though I wasn't terribly impressed with either of them. The SX210IS has a bit too much noise in the images I shot, even at ISO 400.
Why must we go back in time in-term of style and design? It's yukky.
Only thing the I-10 is really missing is a optical viewfinder in the back at the top. Raw would be nice, but I could go either way on that.
IN THE WILD?.... MMMM... I HAVE HAD THE SX210 FOR TWO WEEKS ALREADY. GOT IT FROM BEST BUY. I've seen the Nikon S3000 there as well, nice camera, but I like Canon better.
HERE IS MY REVIEW OF IT.

After waiting a couple of months for this camera, thank GOD I finally got it yesterday. This camera is replacing my great SD880IS. I've been testing it in different situations and have found it very impressive. If you liked the previous SX200, then you'll love this one. Nicer body style, it feels light, yet powerful. Flash can be hidden if not needed (not available before). It has so many options, Pro and beginner, like being able to manually adjust exposure, aperture, shutter speed are a big plus. Of course the greatest feature of this camera is the zoom, you get 14x optical plus 4x digital for an awesome 56x in total with great picture quality (I tested it today taking pictures of a bald eagle outdoors, amazing) Another great feature is HD video with stereo audio, which I tested this morning with a Mockingbird singing outdoors, stereo audio is great and video quality is very good and best of all, you get to use optical and digital zoom in video! Dynamic IS helps a lot to avoid shaky videos.
Some of the cons I've seen are the widescreen, at some point is wasted because not all of it is used in normal use; I like better the regular 3" screen on my SD880. Still missing in-camera panorama feature. No HDMI cable included. No optical view finder. No Digital/Super Macro (though you can set digital zoom to 2.1x and make it work at some point) And the POOR BATTERY LIFE, just about 200 shots from one charge; but I guess I would be willing to buy an extra battery on amazon or ebay. You cannot set shortcuts on the other buttons as the S90. Compared to my SD880IS, this one is missing the Audio-only recorder (no big deal though). On the black body camera, you get some visible fingerprints (if that bother you).
Overall, great advanced point and shoot camera! Even-though it may look expensive, all its features/quality may pay for it. Easy to use with Professional features and awesome zoom. It feels very solid and durable. And it is made in JAPAN!

The camera looks very retro, although I'd still pick black for the color.
And I still own an Auto 110 (even though it's not been used in ages). It was a cool camera for it's time.
I have the Canon S3000 http://www.abt.com/product/44898/Nikon-COOLPIXS3000.html and I really like it. The Pentax in the picture looks retro and I just prefer cameras that are look new and are compact to carry. This one does not look digital and looks like the old ones that used to run on camera roll.
@chocolateavalanche
that CANON S3000 must be awesome... the best of both worlds! =)'
