I'm just happy that an engadget tipster was able to take a decent macro shot of a screen for once. Good job.
This would be a HUGE impact to Amazon and most Amazon customers. Currently Amazon doesn't charge sales tax for everyone, only in states where they have a brick and mortar presence. So only where they have offices or warehouse/shipping facilities do they have to charge sales tax. With Target in every or nearly every state that would mean that carrying the Kindle would force Amazon to charge sales tax in every state. That would be HUGE to many customers and most likely to not be offset by Kindle sales. I live in a state where they charge sales tax but for many others this would make other online retailers more attractive.
@shaniac That is incorrect. It target buys them and is the distributor, the taxes will only be charged on those units, not for all of Amazon's catalog.
@frotal Now if Amazon opened an actual physical store in each state, like a mall kiosk, etc. that would be a big deal.
In the end , I don't care, I can see Amazon's headquarters out my window right now, no free lunch for me.
When's it coming to my Apple Store... those places are PACKED!
