Lenovo C200 brings NVIDIA Ion 2 stateside for $499
If you've been patiently waiting on a low-cost NVIDIA Ion 2 system it looks like today is your lucky day since it looks like Lenovo has scored an early lead in unleashing the wrath of the new Atom / GeForce combo. Available sometime this month, the 18.5-inch C200 all-in-one isn't going to replace that Core i7 rig for ripping through Command & Conquer 4, but its Intel dual-core Atom D510 CPU can handle the light productivity while its GeForce G210 GPU will automatically turn on -- thanks to Optimus -- to deal with some Spore or 1080p video. Unfortunately the C200 only has a single touch, 1366x768-resolution display and a standard integrated DVD drive rather than Blu-ray, but we guess we can't expect much more for its appealing $499 price tag. Lenovo will also offer a sans Ion and touch version of the C200 for $399. We told you today was going to be your lucky day! PR and press pics for your viewing pleasure below.
NEW LENOVO CONUMERS PCs OFFER HASSLE-FREE, ENJOYABLE
COMPUTING IN A SLEEK PACKAGE
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC–– April 07, 2010: Lenovo (HKSE: 0992) (ADR: LNVGY) today unveiled two new consumer PCs that keep users entertained wherever life takes them. Lenovo's newest all-in-one, the C200 with optional NVIDIA® ION™ graphics, and the IdeaPad S10-3s with its slim profile and new colors and patterns, offer consumers sleek form factors and a variety of features to help enjoyably pursue all their computing needs.
"Our new S-series netbook and C-series all-in-one PCs are stylish in design but offer a relaxing computing experience that all consumers can appreciate," said Dion Weisler, vice president, Business Operations, Lenovo. "Whether you are looking for a family PC for your living room or one for your travels, Lenovo PCs are designed to make computing more fun and intuitive."
Lenovo C200- Reshaping the Home Computing Experience
Sporting an 18.5 inch HD 16:9 widescreen display, up to NVIDIA® ION™ 256MB graphics processor for high definition video support, and an optional single-touch touchscreen panel, the C200 is an affordable and fun family PC with a sleek, compact design. This all-in-one computer, available with up to Intel® Atom™ Dual Core processor D510, and complete with an integrated DVD reader/writer, is the ideal PC for any room in the home. For improved video chat communications, the C200 features integrated stereo speakers and the Lenovo High-Sense Webcam, which boasts a larger lens and finer color and shading sensitivity to create clearer images and greater contrast, especially in low-light environments.
"The Lenovo C200 with NVIDIA ION is an ideal way to meet the 'info-tainment' needs of today's digital family. Its snappy graphics and big screen are perfect for accessing the Internet, sharing family photos, playing casual games together, or enjoying the latest online videos in high definition," said David Ragones, director of ION and GeForce product marketing, NVIDIA.
The C200 is equipped with the Lenovo Rescue System – a quick and easy solution to back up and restore important data files. With the touch of a button users can easily restore their lost data, allowing consumers to enjoy a worry-free computing experience.
IdeaPad S10-3s- Stylish Internet Companion
With its slim 16mm profile and light weight design, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3s is the perfect netbook for consumers who are always on-the-go and want an immediate web browsing experience. This chic internet companion comes with the new Intel® Atom N470 or N450 processor and is available in black, white or a "spring flowers" cover pattern to suit your individual style. The S10-3s offers a familiar typing experience similar to a full size laptop with its 98% full-size chiclet keyboard, with individually-spaced and rounded keys that make typing comfortable and easy. Users can now get on the web even faster with Quick Start, which enables access to a range of applications, multimedia files, and Web browsing without booting to the Windows™ desktop operating system.
Packed with neat surprises, the S10-3s comes with Dolby® Headphone audio that helps bring music and videos to life, while DirectShare allows users to instantly sync their files wirelessly with any other type and brand of computer, without even connecting to the web. With MapLife location-based mapping, users can discover new places that could create life's next exciting moment. By detecting a user's location from a simple Wi-Fi connection, MapLife will use context-based mapping to display nearby points of interest.
The S10-3s also features Active Protection System (APS) – a feature previously found only on Lenovo's premium ThinkPad and IdeaPad laptops, but now fitted as standard across the S10-3 netbook range. And with VeriFace™ face recognition technology and OneKey™ Rescue System data recovery and anti-virus tools, the S10-3s is packed with features that make computing more fun and convenient. Like all 3rd generation Lenovo netbooks, users can choose from a suite of wireless options like 802.11b/g/n, WWAN, 3G and Bluetooth®.

it wont play crysis.
@Coke
C'mon dude, my N1 can play crysis with the setting set to max!
@Coke
My Mac is more powerful.
@iTroll You mac also cost more than $499.
Not hating on Apple (I've got an iMac myself), but that was just stupid.
@codylc
Ah, but crysis is as smooth as a concrete brick on my Mac - beat that.
@iTroll
Yea, I bet it does run real smooth on your mac...on low settings. Troll.
@ROFL
He said as smooth as a concrete brick. Concrete isn't that smooth... Bad reading.
@Coke no but touchscreen Spore has me intrigued...
@Coke That design looks familiar..... I can't quite put my finger on it....
@benny90
If you're referring to some Nipple designs, it looks nothing like that, unless you propose that Nipple pioneered a minimalist curved stand. Take a lesson in design history. The Nipple boys have done that for sure.
@Mrtoocool
Crysis or not crysis I think I found the new HTPC to leash to my 60" Kouro.
This one or the Asus k-board PC
1366x768? Fail.
@Johnny Rockets
No, for the price and screen size I think this is fairly decent. It's an 18 inch screen. I'd be content with this if it had a better processor.
@Johnny Rockets
Why don't you resolution nazis stick to expensive models?
cant help but thinkin it looks like a tablet. maybe its all the tablet coverage lately
@zorro I thought the same thing. It would be cool if it detached from the base.
@zorro
That's one big tablet.
getting a macbook son uff sorry windows fans jeej
Sorry for what?
@achulo52
Why not just stab us all though the heart?
@ROFL hopefully he is sorry for existing.
so this shouldn't have much of a problem playing streamed 1080p content from a home server, right?
@black06c230
Not at all. Unless of corse the bitrate is like 20+mbps or something which is unlikely. lol
@abedinthehouse
it would seeing as how the resolution of the monitor doesn't support it
@Broderbund
It'd called having a second monitor/TV...
I'll take one with the Ion and sans the touchscreen. No middle ground option? Crap.
I thought the panel slides out to a mobile device, but its just another all-in-one
@achulo52
What are you, five? If that is "like a tablet", then so is every other monitor in the market. i guees you choose what product should yuu trooll with, but seriously that's just old now.
SINGLE TOUCH was the keyword.
Too much glossy =/
@Peytral
Looking at your avatar I'm going to take your comment with a grain of salt.
Hmm. If that thing has DVI/HDMI and separate audio outs this could be my new media pc - a nice touchscreen interface for windows media center, streaming blu-ray images of my NAS to a projector or large screen :)
that looks hawt....but renders always do....
i'll set my hope to, hmmm, medium
Please do not buy a notebook/all-in-one computer for gaming.
@mrsamo
You day that like there aren't laptops that would put many desktops to shame.
And IIRC, the Dell Studio XPS all-in-ones were fairly well speced.
A traditional desktop would come out cheaper for the same performance, but I'm a fan of all-in-ones, but I can't find one that's speced well enough at a respectable price.
@BigJayDogg3
Wrong, a traditional desktop would come out faster because they use full size desktop components.
These all-in-ones are using notebook/netbook components, everyone knows that notebooks can never perform as well as their desktop counterparts.
Why they need to put Atom on everything?
@Atkins Because it's cheap, and upselling it like this means better profit margin. Ever wonder why netbooks are getting larger despite the same innards? Same reason.
@pika2000 I know it's cheap, but why don't just put an old core duo inside, up the price 10$ and it will still sell very well.
@Atkins
C2D uses more power and generates more heat. More power would be needed for the processor, as well as the fans needed to cool the system, which will probably also require a larger power supply. A larger power supply will need better ventilation and a larger case. The larger case will be less sexy. And as we all know when it dines to low end computing, sexy > all.
i really don't care about this..I just want my A300..its april already
Definitely NOT for gaming:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-ION-2.24292.0.html
Massive FPS fail.
@TareG Not everyone wants to play First Person Shooters at high speed. However for quiet fanless compact low-powered productivity machines, the Nvideo Ion performs just fine.
@mukatuna
Not even on low speed.... it renders most FPS games at 5-10 fps on low.
Is the data storage capacity no longer worth mentioning or does this thing comes along without any hdd/ssd??
I'd hate it with a raptor but love it with a fancy ssd.
What's the point of Optimus switchable graphics in a desktop again ?
*DEAL BREAKER*
Is is mountable?
It looks very familiar like the Apple iMac...
Not sure if Apple patented the design of it's desktops, but they better do it hurry and sue Lenovo.
