We don't know what the future holds for the iPhone OS. Will we see multitasking? Will there be widgets? Will Apple forgo the whole idea of icons in exchange for constantly mutating digital lifeforms? Luckily, we're less than 24 hours from finding the answer to those questions (and hopefully many more). We'll be bringing you live, up-to-the-minute coverage of Apple's event starting tomorrow morning, delivering each astounding factoid with the speed and precision that only Engadget can provide. @ENGADGET:
Lets not forget about Multiple User support for the iPad. Pretty much a large personal cell phone without it. No way to really share the thing with friends or even family members. Email, bookmarks, media files, etc. should be associated with users so that I can use the iPad and so can my kid (on a vacation for instance).
@iluvms That's easily rectified, just ask those Rhinos that Stephen Colbert saved...
@iluvms
Of course, Wikipedia is the source of all truth as it can only be edited by the world's prestigious scholars...
Anyways, looking forward to the coverage! I hope we won't be disappointed! I have a feeling I'm going to be worse off after the event tomorrow, since I'll have to wait until June to get whatever they are announcing...
@iluvms Man I've been trying not to admit it but it does seem like there are a TON of Apple posts no matter what it is. I mean I understand the business aspect of it but I wonder if they see how it could appear they have a bias for Apple. Since news of the Evo dropped I've been checking daily for anything new on it and the first bit of news today about the release date was sorta hidden on the mobile site. In all fairness at least they are more balanced then Giz's Apple love fest.
@iluvms It's pretty clear that Apple just does more noteworthy things than Microsoft. I live just south of where Microsoft is located. They pretty much have two cities in washington working entirely for them.... What are all those people doing?
Is it just me or does the number 4 sort of resemble the white cross in a sneaky little way?
Gives a whole new meaning to the words "Jesus phone".
@iluvms
Your an idiot! Anyone can change information on Wikipedia.
@LiQuiDFuSioN
It looks like something white that would cast a shadow of the number 4. Hmmm WONDER WHAT THAT WHITE THING COULD BE!
@Jaylittles531
"Your an idiot!" /facepalm
@Jaylittles531
What else is the new...the Apple Haters are BITCHING yet again.
God I'm sick of your hypocrisy. if you don't like Engadget GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
This is important news regardless of what you think and say. Engadget will continue to cover Apple because guess what? Apple news get the most hits and it's what most readers want to see.
As for iPhone OS 4.0 I really do NOT care if they add multitasking or not. As I've said before it's not that important.
MOST PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT FLASH.
MOST PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT MULTITASKING.
That being said I think it's almost a guarantee that Apple will add multitasking. Although I personally don't need it nor care about it. I sorta hope they DON'T add it just to piss off you Apple HATERS.
IF you Apple Haters were so satisfied with Verizon/Sprint or your droids or nexus ones or heros or pres or whatever you would NOT be in this thread trolling the Engadget editors/writers and the Apple Supporters YET AGAIN.
@clay113
Well yeah. Out of the big 3 companies who produce platforms (ie, of interest to many people) Apple is really the only one doing anything lately. The N1 got tons of coverage when it came out but what more is there to say now? It's still a good phone. Hasn't been a substantial software update. If Google wanted to do a press event tomorrow detailing the future of Android we'd all be super interested about it. Microsoft? WM7 got lots of coverage. It looks great. Unfortunately we're going to be waiting a while to get it so, again, not much more to say. Apple knows one of the basics of PR which is no news is bad news.
Sigh. I welcome another week of engadget iOrgy about as fondly as father welcomed colon cancer.
@(Unverified)
I hope they update the MacBook Pros soon, 'cause I refuse the start development of iPad apps until I can buy recent hardware...
One thing is for sure. Fanbois and Haters are excited. Fanbois and Haters will watch it. Admit it!
@tbonez No kidding. To me, this is a bigger gap than the lack of multi-tasking. If the iPhone o/s won't support multiple users, the email application (at least) needs to be able to support password access.
@erik1080
Don't call someone an idiot if you don't know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'.
@LiQuiDFuSioN
Looks uncomfortably cruciform to me.

Doyle: storm clouds rollin in. gonna last another week. 'nuther iOrgy.
Clancy: we ain't even done dryin out from the last.
Doyle: welcome it about as fondly as father welcomed colon cancer.
Clancy: god help us all
@NoToApple
I'm not a racist. I'm anything but. Racism implies this is based on race. And Apple Hater is not a race I"ve heard of before.
But you are right in that I HATE YOU.
{People like you and LAY are RUINING this website. Engadget use to be fun to come to. I just want to be able to read the news and read the comments without having to see your bitching and moaning about all things Apple.
I don't give a fuck if you think Engadget is biased. Hell I don't care EVEN IF THEY ARE BIASED.
It is their right to like whatever they want to like. It's THEIR FREAKING WEBSITE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.
Who are you to tell them what to do with it. Who are you to accuse them of anything.
LASTLY you have freedom of choice. EXERCISE IT. Choose to go to ANOTHER WEBSITE AND LEAVE THIS ONE ALONE.
That's ALL I'm saying. If Engadget is bothering you then STOP READING ENGADGET. STOP COMMENTING ON APPLE STORIES.
@TheLondonExchange shouted..."MOST PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT FLASH. "
I bet most people do care when their favourite websites have large holes, or don't even work at all.
@mukatuna
OMFG..that hasn't stopped 44 MILLION PEOPLE FROM BUYING THE iPhone.
God what is wrong with you people.
That's 2:30PM in Newfoundland.
@NoToApple
I've NEVER said I don't hate you.
However in what dimension do you live in where any type of hate automatically equals racism?
Sorry but that's not how reality works.
I HATE you because you deserve it. You are attacking decent people who just happen own iPhones and actually enjoy them. You are attacking the nice writers/providers of this great blog known as Engadget.
@DanMan Also love how that was the only time left off from the list pictured above. At least I now have the, otherwise, personally near purposeless knowledge of Tokyo/Seoul to Hawaii time difference.
@iluvms This was quite funny I think its worth sharing.
On March 31, 2008, Engadget reported that T-Mobile had sent a letter requesting that Engadget cease using the color magenta in its Engadget Mobile site, claiming that T-Mobile had trademarked the color.[11] Engadget issued a response on April 1, mainly by repainting the Engadget sites and changing the Mobile logo for the day to a logo that looks as though it is saying "Engadge t-mobile".[12] The site has since returned to normal format, with the exception of the highlighting color.

@Jaylittles531 I never asked what was casting the shadow. Merely stating an observation.
-_-
@TheLondonExchange There is nothing wrong with us people. However Apple makes bold claims like 'iPad is the best way to experience the web.' and then we find many sites have big holes in them (such as Engadget) or just simply don't work with the iPad and iPhone.
FYI Apple in the UK got into trouble with the Advertising Standards Authority about similar claims for the iPhone.
@NoToApple Whats wrong with you? Are you foreal being serious? Your post on this thread have nothing to do with the live blog coverage of OS 4.0. Keep it moving.
@Jaylittles531
Tom's Hardware has just announced a way to view their site without any Apple articles, too.
It's an epidemic...
OMG! I just heard you can't print to a printer from an iPad! Not even to a wireless network printer such as the officejet. Looks like HP Slate for me.
@mukatuna What websites I'm on engadget with my iPad and it works perfect.
@tbonez I agree it should be built in, but um... There's an app for that, and at 0.99 it's not a huge investment.
@Jaylittles531
iPhone OS 4! With features that are new (to us) and at least 2 years old to Android and even older compared to Win Mobile.
@iluvms youre stupid. thats what wikipedia says about you.
@TheLondonExchange - I'm beginning to hate you as well, FWIW.
@Amnak Well I frequently browse Engadget myself using my iPod Touch and frequently see empty spaces where Flash content should be. For example just try going to http://www.engadget.com/video/ with your iPad, there is a big hole in the page straight away.
@TheLondonExchange
I appreciate what you are trying to say, but seriously, don't feed the trolls.
@iluvms i take it you made that edit by yourself. know that it was taken down rather quickly.
here is iluvms revision:

you can see that his IP is 174.42.187.83
pretty lame dude.
@NoToApple
Agree. This London exchange character doesn't seem to be very friendly.
@TheLondonExchange
god that guys an idiot he needs to get jumped (preferably now)
and as a minority lemme' tell you my good man you are NOT A RACIST.
@Jaylittles531
nice!
@theehokage
"he needs to get jumped (preferably now)"
Is that a threat of violence?
@TheLondonExchange
[MOST PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT FLASH.
MOST PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT MULTITASKING.]
I think those are two pretty dumb things to say. You've never done two things at once? Do you have ADD? who are these "most people"? Cavemen?
@TheLondonExchange
Agreed in every way. You Apple haters have become the very thing you seek to destroy.
@7egend
If you paid more attention, you would've noticed that he was calling out someone else for doing exactly the same thing.
@erik1080
an iPhone with with subtle new few features. Aside from the the OS will they announce potential new features in the iPhone like a mini projector, an A4 chip and it's integrated PowerVR, or joining the larger res club with at least 800x480, a larger size screen with super amoled or will they only announce the new OS features like Multitasking as everyone has been waiting for? That's gonna be very hard to guess what's new on the OS side. The OS gui style hasn't changed in the iPhone compared to the desktop OS that's been updated for every new significant service pack release.
@clay113 I am also a bit confused about the omission of the EVO 4G release date news from the main Engadget page today. That was, in my opinion, much more important news than %90 of the posts on the site today. Much more newsworthy than a PC smashed into a mini guitar amplifier cabinet.
Maybe it was a plot to get Engadget Mobile more readers? If so, then it worked.
p.s. cool name!
