Barnes & Noble Nook seen lying in wait at Best Buy
We've already had a pretty clear indication that the Barnes & Noble Nook would be going on sale at Best Buy soon, and we now have our firmest evidence yet courtesy of a tipster who has found Nooks aplenty lurking behind the scenes at the retailer. What's more, as you can see in the shot of an inventory screen after the break, it seems all but certain that the launch date is indeed April 18th, although there's still no confirmation of a price -- we wouldn't be counting on any discounts over Barnes & Noble itself, though.

Wow, not Jobs related??
Ipad and Nook at the same retail store, they should put side by side comparison.
@techlord
a side by side comparison of two completely different devices?
@techlord
News flash... Best buy carries the Sony E-readers. something that is comparable. And why is that going to be in the DI department?
Just bought one at my local B&N... nice little reader. Wish the e-ink screen was touch enabled, but the fact I can put PDF files on it makes up for that. Hopefully Best Buy will sell some of the more obscure accessories (extra charge cable, covers, etc.)
@somewhiteguy Recently got one too. Love it. I wouldnt mind the touch e-ink, but the problem is that they normally have more glare than a non-touch, which would ruin the experience.
I wanted to like the Nook, but when I had hands on it at a B&N, their network was down, and the display model's battery was low. I doubt it will be better at BestBuy. Target probably won't be any better. Sucks you have to buy something to get a real feel for what it does, or doesn't do. I hate returning products.
I consider the iPad as an ebook reader (no other feature is that interesting). And I don't think any ebook reader has a chance against the iPad.
@shoxite Except for e-ink, which anyone who uses an e-reader for it's primary purpose (a lot) will tell you how much easier it is to read on for hours on end. You can't compare the Nook/Kindle and the iPad.
@shoxite
I know alot of people that share your opinion. And thats fine.
However I liked spending 250$ less on my ebook reader.
@Heavy Loads
Completely agree. Two very different reading experiences (iPad vs Kindle/Nook). If the iPad works for you and an ereader, great, but personally I still find E-ink to be a million times better.
@shoxite I hope you're a vampire, cuz reading outside on a sunny day is a no no. Say hi to Sookie for me.

I'm going to buy an e-reader for my grandma for Christmas. She reads a lot and does not need an IPAD so I'm going to get her something sub $300. Might pick one up for myself too.
I got one for Christmas and honestly can't stand it sometimes. It works okay for novels, but it chokes on PDFs and the battery drains really quickly when it's left off but unplugged. I'll probably end up pawning it for the next Kindle, whenever that happens.
One of my wife's rich friends got all of her kids Nooks (4 or 5 of them, I think). They never use them. It's not because of the hardware, however, nothing they want to read is available. It's hard to imagine not being able to find a single book in the B&N catalog, but apparently everything they want is available on the Kindle.
I think this is just too late to the game.
I was ready to Kindle some romance until I saw the iPad on her Nook...
I would agree that the iPad is a better device for reading except for one thing. I have very sensitive eyes to light, and I get a head-ache from looking at a back-lit screen for to long. I have the Kindle 2, and I couldn't be happier. I actually bought it after the iPad was released, and decided between the two, and I'm happy with my decision. This is just some humble insight from a happy Kindle 2 owner, so take it as you will.
Wow. Here in Miami we have a Best Buy and a Barnes & Noble about 30 seconds away from each other...walking. If I wanted to buy one, I guess it would come down to which has a better warranty for the Nook.
We have the same thing here in NJ, Best Buy and Barnes & Noble across the street from each other. If I were buying one, I'd choose Barnes & Noble any day. Best Buy royally screwed my friend last year when she tried to buy a TV for a gift three days before Christmas. They took her money and told her it would be ready for pick up the next day. Long story short: It didn't come in. they told her it was on back order, then refused to refund her money - told her she'd have to wait about two weeks for a check to be issued - even though she'd paid in CASH the night before! The check came on January 15. Best Buy? Never again.
@dosguy I work for Barnes & Noble and I am not completely thrilled with Best Buy carrying the nook. I have a best buy in my shopping center!!
It's funny how it's actually Windows and Android lovers that bring up Apple before anyone else... just saying. I have yet to see it in my store but I will dig deep tomorrow when I work!
