iPhone OS 4 keynote video now online
Sure, you devoured every word of the liveblog (or perhaps just casually refreshed throughout the day, who are we to judge), but if you want to see the Steve Jobs-delivered iPhone OS 4 keynote with your own two eyes, the streaming video is now online. Multitask your way on over!

Multitasking!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pshhh I TRUST engadget to bring me everything i need to know...
@grapeDrank
Apple is the technotard's brand. Apple + jailbreak is the tech-savvy person's solution. OS4 just caught up to where jailbreak'd iPods/iPhones (I personally prefer my iPod Touch) was quite a while ago. I'ma stick with 3.1.2 jailbreak personally.
...until OS4 untethered jailbreak comes out.
@grapeDrank you have much too high of an opinion of yourself.
@shoxite Only if you bought it within the last year. Or bought it Twice. Or three times.
@grapeDrank I think you're going to great lengths to insult all of the Apple consumers out there. Not all of us are driveling 'tards who are borderline technophobic.
I think simplicity is a good thing which Apple consistently strives for when producing products; although, at the expense of better functionality and customization. It really guides developers of the iPhone and other competition to make something just as simple and efficient for the end user.
@shoxite
i'm sorry...but to be honest, 4.0 is big news, but in all honesty i think there have been bigger keynotes this year (most notably WP7 from MWC), and i dont think engadget users were ever privy enough to get a live keynote offered for that.
@grapeDrank Their method is pretty clever. Have things to appear like they're running in the background without taking up the processor and eating the battery. Read some nexus one reviews and you'll see that the battery life pretty bad. Some people prefer to be able to tinker with their gadgets but the majority just want something that works and is easy to use. That's why the iPhone has been so successful. The smartphone was too complicated for many people but apple simplified it and now everyone and their mom has one.
@LiQuiDFuSioN
exactly! I didn't realize that windows mobile and android users were the "ubergeeks" . It's not what os you use that "defines" your geekiness. But which one serves your purposes better. I personally switched to the iPhone os because even if jailbroken... It works. Period. Wm6.5 was so scattered between the manufacturer overlays and branded apps and functions that they ran just like a walmart pc with all the normal crapware pre-installed. I can't speak for android, but with all the fractured os versions and the same problem of not having a matched os/ui/hardware system that it doesn't have the pull to get me to switch. True that iPhone os is NOT in anyway perfect. But with the 3gs introduction, it is very very close to a perfect user experience
@grapeDrank
"FLASH sending CPU to %150 usage..."
Is this where the hardware grows a half of a new CPU? If so
@grapeDrank
You're a genius!! Brilliant move!!
Apple should build their products for you and both of your nerd friends instead of the 100 million plus they currently target!!
Can't believe apple did t think of this!!
You sir, are truly magical and revolutionary!
@west10r
Spoken like someone who has never owned and used Android or WinMo.
@shoxite Apple just invented multitasking on a mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://rageguy.com/RageGuy_FFFUUUU.png
@shoxite Too bad people have been doing this for months already!! The only thing I'm interested in is the game center app. Imagine halo as an app and having matchmaking right on your iPhone. iMLG
@toptekjon LOL +2 that was brilliant sir
@toptekjon come on man.....be a realist......both friends? a little generous don't you think?
@toptekjon I think you accidently put an s on the end of FRIEND.
"QuickTime" is what his wife called him!
@null
it's "magical"
@shoxite
multitasking is a great news?
@shoxite Ok, but it's not really multitasking is it? I mean, it's providing a couple of new background services, same as push notifications, but that's not quite what everyone thinks of as multitasking. I was hoping that Apple would actually match the functionality provided by Android or WebOS. I didn't want to be disappointed, but I am. I mean, it's still pretty and all, but even with the updates it's starting to feel stale.
Imagine that! Double-clicking on an apple product!
@bjsguess
I've had countless WMO phones from the apache to the tp2. Custom Roms, stock roms and CDMA and gsm carriers also. But good try. Sounds like you've never played with a 3gs
@shoxite hijacking this comment in order to help those that can't use quicktime. right click one of the quality buttons on the apple site, "save content as" and open it with VLC. pause it and give it a min to buffer.
damn that quicktime.
@shoxite
omg! multitasking...And people are so excited! Sheesh. I've been using this on my symbian phone since the time of Ngage..A "true" (r)evolution.
@shoxite
This is revolutionary and unique, just like apple to come up with an idea like this! Bet your devices don't do more than one thing at once!
Nah your coverage was precise enough engadget. Thanks anyways
@MoonWalkerCTE
But still no comments on playlist creation! that's the biggest thing for me out of all of OS 4.0 There's not many apps you'd want to multitask with anyway if you're on an ipod touch withouta wifi network. What's with the improvements to the ipod app! deliver, engadget.
@MoonWalkerCTE
HOLY EFF... ENOUGH WITH THE APPLE/IPHONE NEWS! I HATE APPLE!!!! RAAAAWR I'M A MAD CONSERVATIVE!
@safe travels While I have some sympathy for you, who do they care about pleasing more? iPhone > iTouch from user base & profit levels.
@juanvaldez
well, kind of, but aren't the improvements to the ipod app relevant to ipod touch and iphone users? they've covered almost every other update that's been mentioned, why not this one? the closest we got was Nilay referring to it in the hands on video, i hope they bring something about it soon.
Too many posts about 1 topic...
@Rick Goodman
Agreed
I am going to watch this on my OS4 iPhone 3gs, then email slaves to keep polishing my lightsaber. ALL at the same time!
@Lord Vader
You know, my droid's been doing that for a long time now. While fixing the hyperdrive on the Falcon.
@Luke Skywalker
Go polish your daddy's lightsaber, you sissy. I bet you are still crying over that hand of yours.
@Luke Skywalker dont talk back with spite. He is your father.
I'm not very excited about the way Apple has implemented mutitasking! It looks very dumb. WebOS has better mutitasking ..
So does android, as do the other mobile OS's. It honestly has to be a slap in the face to apple customers IMHO. Really, this long to implement a LIMITED, multitask? And then one of their 7 keynotes for the OS is iAd? Seriously lol'd when I read that, oh and you need to have a 3GS to use multitasking, sorry.
@Rajivsri webos is a drain on the battery. Those suckers don't last throu gh a day on regular use.
@Rajivsri actually I think it looks quite clever. The whole app need not run just a snippet. I have Backgrounder on my jailbroken 3GS and leaving Skype running in the background all day eats up my battery. Properly done this could work well.
Ok
Steve Jobs sucks at Tap Tap
@iLi3kTuttles
He looks really tired. he kinda lost his magic, you can tell when he tells you something and is kinda of waiting for a response but isn't getting it.
i guess he's still not over his illness. his presentation doesn't have its usual impact.
well, its either that or he ran out of Kool-Aid.
i dont understand though how this MT feature wont hinder battery performance
@nipponJ
It's magic! I mean, duh!
I just want to hear Steve say "If you see an task manager they blew it again" a few more times :)
Playing video's off of Apple's site has always been troublesome for some reason. Other websites that use Quicktime work just fine.
@Nitesh What's this Quicktime crap? A proprietary application that maximizes my CPU... oh wait...
