Our army of Best Buy informants has struck again, this time delivering an internal systems entry that references an S1240W model from
Cisco's consumer division, described as a digital camcorder. Aside from the obvious appearance of the Flip name in the top right corner, the retail box dimensions listed herein -- 7.7 by 1.5 by 3.6 inches -- seem an almost perfect match for the recently spied
Flip Slide HD product box. At that time, we were furnished with supplemental pics pointing out 16GB of built-in storage for up to four hours of video, and today we can add a price and potential release date to the dossier. April 18 is the reputed "in stock" date for this Flip shooter, with a $280 "regular retail" price shown on the other snapshot we've come across (see it after the break). That means we've only got a few days of mystery left before Cisco flips the covers away.
[Thanks, Jae]
I saw one of these at Best Buy in Burbank, CA tonight. It was for sale. There was no display but just one sitting next to the Flip Ultra and Ultra HD.
Wait wait wait........nearly $300 for a FLIP!?!?
Wasn't this the walmart invented, discount camcorder?
Rather get a regular camcorder with memory card expansion slot. Sure it won't be too portable but, I might be able to save a buck
Cisco, I think you didn't get the entire "point" of Flip when you bought them. Releasing a near-$300 hand-cam wasn't it.
That's disgustingly high priced.
At that price I will just buy a Canon point-and-shoot cam, they are way better at video than the flip anyway.
@jellotime91 I completely agree. I cannot figure out who they are trying to market with this kind of price-point....
As everyone else is saying, this makes no sense. I already balk at spending $200 on their current lineup. Almost $300 pushes me right toward a much better performing camcorder from Canon or Panasonic.
Maybe it's 1080p? Maybe the video quality is beating a real camcorder of thrice the price? Maybe it'll spring money trees in your backyard? Serve unicorn roast for dinner?
that's too much of a price!!!! C'mon flip!!
