Samsung Galaxy S hits the FCC with AT&T bands onboard
It wasn't even a week ago that we deduced the eventual launch of Samsung's Galaxy S Android phone on AT&T, and now here we are looking at FCC documents confirming Ma Bell's favorite frequencies. So much for intrigue and mystery. Of course, Samsung could have just filed the testing paperwork to cover devices headed to Canada and Mexico, so this doesn't mean it's a lock -- especially since this phone is labeled as the i9000, not the SGH-i867 number we were sort of expecting. Either way, it looks like the rabid Samsung fanboys out there will be able to get their TouchWiz all up on Stateside 3G at some point -- and isn't that all you can expect from this world?

I'm VERY, VERY sad to say, that those who have thought that this is going to T-Mobile are completely wrong. Although yes, both companies use 850 and 1900 mhz, whereas att uses THOSE spectrums for 3g, Tmo uses 1700 and 2100 for their 3g. It is positively an ATT bound set. After 8 years with T-mobile, this could be the nail in the coffin for me. How DARE they ignore, yet another opportunity, to FINALLY carry a handset with a 1ghz proc + keyboard. The Desire, sure, it competes with the Nexus - and maybe Tmo-US backed off on carrying that out of some non-compete-period for being the first carrier to launch on. But it has NO keyboard, and is NOT SUBSIDIZED. The Droid is stupendous, although its keyboard is simultaneously horrendous. Motorola clearly doesn't have high regard for T-mobile, which they clearly expressed by updating the droid to 2.1 far prior to the crazy click. This phone, the Galaxy-S, is the best android I have seen. I can only hope for perhaps, Sammy to release an un-subsidized version on the tmo spectrum. This is a huge blow to T-mobile. They have ZERO 1ghz android subsidized sets (let alone one with a keyboard). They. Have. NOTHING. ZERO. ZILCH. What in the FUCK are they going to bait customers with? They're a withering company, and have taken no initiative to incentivize loyalty, let alone attract new customers. Only if you live in a "testing zone" might you have 21mb, but who cares? All their phones are such dogshit that even if it did get that rate, it's still unusable! I can deal with apps that are on the WAN not being instantaneous! But native apps? And a fucking physical keyboard? Hmmmm... time to consider who else has reception in my apt.

I played with it the night I wrote that down...
T-Mo really should have picked this handset up.
They are really hurting for a decent Android offering.
9 months ago they were announcing the first Galaxy. They abandoned that phone completely in under 6 months from launch. Samsung does not support their mobile products, stay away. You won't be getting any Gingerbread or FroYo on this phone no matter how sweet the specs are.
