Archos promises six Internet Tablets this summer for hands of all sizes
If you're suffering from Goldilocks Syndrome, unable to find the perfect portable device, Archos is releasing a suite of suite of Internet Tablets this summer and surely one of them will be just right for your choosy tastes. The company looks poised to launch six of the things according to a slide that slipped out from a presentation given by Archos CEO Henri Crohas. The slide (above) shows a mockup image of six separate tablets, which are said to range in price from $100 to $350 with processors ranging from 800MHz up to 1GHz and screens from 3- to 10-inches. This single slide is all that we have to go on at this point, so go ahead and eat your porridge already before it gets too cold. We'll bring you more news on these when we have it.

Please Archos. Quality over Quantity.
@MoonWalkerCTE
Can only be done with Android.
archos makes great media players. These are meant primarily for video and i think it does a better job than anything else out there if you need something for video. no conversion needed for basically any video format and battery and screen is great.
who cares about which OS, resistive or whatever touch screen. its for watching video, its really good at it, and everything else are just add ons.
@bennn I care about the resistive touch screen. I own a Archos 5, and the touch screen is crap. It feels like crap, it registers touches like crap (99% of the time, I need to use a fingernail to get it to register properly, and swipes sometimes work, sometimes don't). The rest of it is great, so I'd be very happy if they coupled a decent touch screen to it...
@ircmaxell
Don't see those problems in my Archos. OTOH, their interface stomps all over Apple's. I don't care about how much everyone else seems to be bedazzled by Apple's crap. Their interfaces are minimalist to the point of it interfering with functionality.
It's a shame their browser is crap. Hopefully they will do better this time around.
@jedi Agree with your comments. The touch screens on both the Archos 5, and 5 Android have been a pleasure to use. I rarely encounter a missed selection and scrolling is super smooth. I know I will be deemed a heretic by some, but I prefer the Archos interface over the iPod touch. Also, after watching videos on the Archos, the iPod touch's screen seems puny. Maybe the original poster has a defective device, and should get it swapped out.
@jimtravis
I am that rare breed; an Archos FanBoy. I have a 605 Wifi and a 5 IMT. Like them both. Now Archos has given me some hard choices. I've seen a refurb 705 for a good price, but these new devices are cheaper and have more features.
I am making a tablet. It runs Dale P OS, which is ironic as it will be a P OS.
One "edition" for each store chain, so all can claim exclusivity. Yawn.
How does Android scale apps for screens of different resolutions?
@grapeDrank
You post too much. Stop with the baseless predictions and verbal diarrhea. Why would Archos only release one tablet, when they have several devices of several sizes currently on the market? I don't own one, but you could do much worse than an Archos.
An Android tablet, 10", with actual widescreen proportions, for $150+ less than the iPad is a huge winner, and an inherent competitor.
Hopefully they have adjustable brightness and also support many ebook formats. I'm looking to replace my Tapwave Zodiac 2 and want something small enough to fit in my palm.
Multitouch? Hmmmm...I wonder if it is capacitive. That would be a first for Archos.
