The Engadget Show: Inside the mind of Yves Behar
Lots of tech companies would like you to believe that they're responsible for the design of its best looking gadgets, but in reality most of them hire outside groups for all that non-spec stuff. And well, if they're smart they get leading industrial designer Yves Behar and his FuseProject team to dream up something incredibly groundbreaking and head-turning. Having birthed the designs of the OLPC XOs and Jawbone headsets we've always been incredibly fascinated by Behar and his knack for coming up with eye-pleasing technology, so naturally we caught up with him when he was in NYC last month and shot some footage of his studio. Uh, so what are you still doing here? Watch it now! Hit up the video after the break!

SWEET!
@hdawggy
Shortest Engadget show? I like it. Thanks Joanna
@hdawggy
Man talks
Woman listens
Video ends
Awww that wasn't an Engadget Show.. that was an Interview. It was cool (really cool!!!), but it got my hopes up that it would be 2 hours long :-/ A renaming would be great.. "An Engadget Tech Insight/Interview"
One designer who is great at what he does and at the same time doesn't talk like he is high on something and his eyeballs are about to pop out because he is so impressed by what he designed!!
That was fun and interesting.
I too can see inside the mind of Yves Behar. Only I don't need to conduct an interview, and my way can sometimes lead to heads imploding, I don't recommend it
@Lord Vader A bit "forced" there Darth... Pun intended...
@Lord Vader give me a few 8balls of coke and I'll be able to look inside your mind too...
@Rick James. I never knew Coca Cola had mind reading effects
@Lord Vader
Cocaine's one helluva drug
What a pleasant surprise on a dreary Tuesday afternoon!
Hopefully this one isn't as boring as the last. The only thing that saved that show was Nilay and Josh trying to break the Playstation Move, the rest was a snoozefest.
he never mentions his mom, Joy, in interviews.
I'm gonna name my first-born Yves...
awesome interview, joanna... and i feel really oblgated to say (with all due respect, seriously) that you're a very pretty lady. also there's nothing more attractive than girls that are actually into tech (seriously dont find that around these parts quite often)
just felt the need to say that. im sure everyone here agrees... just lacks the cajones to say it.
P.S. dont ban me >.<
@skyblaze
*cues creepy music*
@Rick James
rick james... you of all people have a nerve to call anyone creepy :\
@skyblaze
On this point I must concur...my biggest hit was called Superfreak. Not to mention the fact that I did serve quite a bit of jail time for various sex offenses prior to my untimely death. Of course, my wife and I were on a coke-induced drug binge...
@skyblaze I agree. Joanna Stern you are very beautiful. You should be in more of the engadget shows and the podcasts!!!
Engadget: Please RSS the HD feed. Some of us watch these things on big screens and it would be nice to have it automatically there served up for us.
Thanks.
What was with the post-roll 'e' engadget logo followed by the animated engadget logo?
Anyhow, I enjoy these quick vids, so keep em coming!
Okay yeah i might have a bit of a nerd crush on Joanna...
The interview was good too by the way, very interesting, would be great if it had been a bit longer.
Nice to hear a designer (of anything) say that they consider how the enduser will interact with the product, as opposed to them worrying how it will impact their design "brand".
I love these vids. Thanks!
Very interesting. Keep these great interviews coming, Engadget!
Man, Yves' watch was pretty sweet. Never thought I'd ever get jazzed about a bracelet before.
Also, mark me down in the Joanna fanclub.
Joanna.....call me?
interesting call me... lol at ^ above comment
that engadget girl is not too shabby looking is she
Anybody know what was this segment shot with? Was it the EOS 7D?
@AlecJenkins Yep, totally shot with the 7D.
I did a kind of ode to Joshua Topolsky if anybody is interested. I like him, but my friend can't stand him. I just want to get my feelings out there. This one's for you Josh. Please don't hate me. http://www.ohwhocares.com/?p=97
