Dell Streak to bump up to Android 2.1 in September, hopefully shipping sometime before that

So, plenty of Dell goodies to choose from right now, but if you're a die hard Dell-making-mobiles follower, you've probably been pining for the Streak (previously known as the Mini 5) for much longer than is strictly healthy. What news for you? Well, the mini tablet is apparently supposed to be getting Android 2.1 in September. Unfortunately, there's no update on that vague "summer" launch window we have for the actual device, so who knows how much time you'll actually get to suffer without 2.1 holding you and telling you everything's alright. Oh, and were you concerned for some reason that you wouldn't be able to kit this thing out with accessories galore? We're pretty sure the collection you'll find in the gallery will alleviate all fears. You could do worse than a $55 spare battery, and the standard accessories are even pretty legit.

For the record I'm very impressed by what Dell is showing. Having not bought the iPad (waiting for Version 2 or 3) I may just pick up a Dell tablet instead.

Since the Courier looks purely theoretical at this point. The HP slate looks God awful FUGLY.

I would like a 10 inch version of a Dell Tablet...right now I'm only seeing 5 and 7 which isn't anywhere near the 9.7 of the iPad.

Dell is the company with the most potential as of right now.
Dell has just launched pretty much an all out offensive on all BlackBerrys, Palms, the billions of HTC phones, the Apple iPhone/Touch, the Apple iPad, the JooJoo, the HP slate and pretty much everything out there in the mobile computing area. Tegra 2 tablets (adding to the Streak series), beast smartphones with Snapdragons and everything phones should and can be at this moment.

And the operating systems cover both of the available Operating Systems, Windows 7 and Android (with Dell's uber-beast Stage skin UI).

Stop showing me all of this. I'm so envious of all this shiny metal. I wanted the streak as an MID (like archos 5 internet tablet) but then found out it was going to be on att. I just can't take all this, its too disheartening (all on att, all probably expensive, all making want htc phones less).

In one of the pics, they said that there is a wifi only version available. They'd be insane not to price it competitively with the archos 5 / ipod touch, so that hopefully means it won't break the bank.

Its all comes down to the release day.
I am currently using Ipad ( since nothing else on the market except people who hates ipad ( including me)). All this cool pictures reminds me the car show, they will show the concept and by the time its getting released - its totally different .
I am using HTC hD2 with Ipad and it works fine. 2 OS's work as one.
HD2 as wifi router and Ipad as wasting time tablet. But at least i got someting to use at this point , instead keep waiting and waiting and waiting.....
