PlayStation 3.30 firmware is a go, 3D games support 'prepped'
When the PlayStation blog said firmware 3.30 -- you know, the one that "preps" the console for added 3D support (games for now, not movies) -- was "coming soon," we figured that meant some indeterminate day or week ahead. Not so; we just turned on our Sony consoles and, lo and behold, we got a new update sent our way. There's nothing you can do with the third dimension at this point, but take solace in a handful of Trophy enhancements. And Linux support? Don't be silly, it's not coming back.

And yet another useless firmware, hell at this moment there are less people who can actually use the 3D feature, as there are people who want OtherOS back... Screw Sony... I WANT OTHEROS BACK..
and yet another pointless reason for releasing this firmware is, it doesn't even have 3d-movie support.. Well we knew Sony is incompetent, but that much?
GT5 in 3D, Logitech G27 and Playseat A1GP
And then I woke up... :(
So... If tv needs to be hdmi 1.4 compatible, that means it will receive an 1.4 signal... Ps3 will upgrade to hdmi 1.4 with a firmware upgrade and tv wont?
@trihy First of all 1.4 is NOT NECESSARY for 3d. It helps standardize, but it is fully possible to have 1.3 devices transport 3d. PS3 would require a firware update that adds the necessary software to comply with what is in the 1.4 spec, but it is still a 1.3 HDMI port.
Hdmi 1.4 has different cables
Can someone explain what this means for those of us who lack a 3D TV? Will it look weird? And we won't be able to get 3D right without the 3D TV? Sony should really clear stuff up for us
This bricked my PS3, I had a blank screen after installing the update, than after 8? reboots it was fine, then after 1 hour of FF XIII the screen flashed and my PS3 seems to be dean, all of the lights are on but the screen remians black, screw this update
