MiLi's Powerskin claims coveted 'thinnest iPhone battery case' title
And here you were, stylin' in your Juice Pack Air, thinking you were the king of the charging iPhone case hill with the sleekest hardware money can buy... but guess what? Life isn't fair, and MiLi intends to prove it by undercutting Mophie's solution by right around a twentieth of an inch of thickness. It's still packing 1200mAh of power -- the same that the Juice Pack Air offers -- which MiLi claims should be enough to just about double your run time. It's available now in a choice of eight scintillating color combos for £47.99 (about $74).

If a phone needs two batteries at once, they blew it.
@Leindurstit agreed
@Leindurstit Ha! Good one!
@Leindurstit
So... every smartphone ever made blew it? We've been making advances in every area of cell phone technology except for battery life which has been steadily decreasing (for smartphones at least).
@Leindurstit
I wouldn't say it's a failure. The form factor of phones is a compromise between battery life and size/weight. The majority of people prefer the compromise to sit where it is. These battery add-ons simply allow the people who would prefer to have more battery life at the cost of additional size/weight to do so.
@Leindurstit
Seriously. What HAPPENS to all these nanotechnology OMG-IMBA-BATTERIES that you hear about every few months or so, and why are they not in my laptop for week long computing?
@Leindurstit
nutwad....it doesnt "need" 2 batteries. its an optional battery case that will add extra life to the phone for when you are traveling about longer. first time reading about gadgets?
@BenderBends
nutwad....other smartphone operating systems don't "need" task managers or styli. they're optional tools that will add extra life to the phone for when you are traveling about longer, or need to execute a task with precision accuracy. first time reading about gadgets?
@Outsider Nano-tech lithium batteries are on the market that do not burn when punctured regardless of charge and are half the weight of previous designs (all else equal) with great discharge rates.
A123 Systems is already selling some for use in dewalt tools, airplanes, RC, and some cars like the aptera and chevy volt.
@Leindurstit so what you prefer is to have a battery and then when it dies, turn your phone off, then insert the new battery and then power it on right? Or wait maybe we can have both batteries at once, when the external one dies the internal battery kicks in and the phone remains on the whole time. Hmmm which option sounds most convenient here?
@Leindurstit A MiLi, A MiLi
@tonicboy Put it this way then; If you need to put a battery over a battery, you blew it.
@Leindurstit
And... here… we... go.
@Leindurstit Where's the 'don't display troll comments' filter?
@Leindurstit Or maybe your phone sux so bad you don't use it long enough to drain it's battery.
@Leindurstit Thanks man, that was actually pretty funny.
I thought the ladies liked it thicker.
@James T Kirk
I like to wrap my precious in as thin a wrapper as possible. My iPhone too.
@James T Kirk
I think there is a difference between GIRTH, and EXTRA JUICE.
@BMills
You're right. I have both.
/covers ears and runs away
nice
This must be the newer model seems thinner. Might buy it for my ol lady.
@WestindiesKing
You're dating an old lady?
@WestindiesKing Its sort of odd that since they're claiming it's the thinnest of something they don't supply dimensions on their site, but on anothe review site I found somebody who'd measured the MiLi and its apparently 18mm thick, which is about 0.71", where the Mophie Juicepack Air is 0.75" thick, so this is just very slightly thinner. Not sure how much difference the thickness would make. Since the Mophie is available in the US and can be ordered in US dollars or bought in a US store and returned if it doesn't work for you, I might stick with the Mophie...
@WestindiesKing I wouldn't recommend this case. It doesn't protect the front of the iPhone very well. I have it, made the mistake of dropping my iPhone with the Power Skin attached. My glass cracked! The whole screen sticks out above the case.
Too bad this won't sell for very long when the new form factor hits the market.
@(Unverified) Yep, because EVERYONE who has a 3g or a 3gs is going to sell throw away their phone to buy the new one. Your ignorance astounds me. Apple is still selling the 3g which means people are going to have it for at least 2 more years. I've heard a lot of crap on these forums lately, but you're right up there buddy.
Good day troll
@Scubasteve03 Your anger astounds me. He made a simple observation, and he didn't bad mouth Apple. Why call him a troll? by that logic, then you're also a troll. As am I, and everyone else who posts comments.
@DonnyChi91 I'm a troll, here me ROAR! O.O
@Scubasteve03 You mean the Apple Fanboys WON'T immediately replace their 6 month old iPhone for a new model?!
@Scubasteve03 You're quite the bitter critter this morning. All I'm saying is that there is going to be a definite split in the market when the current iPhone 3G/3GS users and the upcoming iPhone 4 users will have to make a choice when it comes to a lot of third-party accessories. As a previous 3GS owner, I had a number of cases that I rotated for fun or practicality. I just sold off my phone in anticipation of the new revision, but I wasn't expecting yet another form factor.
There will be lots of people who want certain styles or feels when it comes to accessories, and manufacturers will be equally split on where to focus.
Sincerely,
-Troll
@(Unverified) He's got a point. Turn down the anger please.
I've got a 3GS with a year to go and I will likely still think twice about playing $80 for a form-fitting battery when we know the new iPhone won't be compatible. A $20 case to keep the screen from shattering if I drop it? Maybe, but $80? No thanks.
Ok, that answers one question. But i'd still like to know what Vanili is up to these days.
@DTJ
I think one of them offed himself.
@CptnDriveThru No, he just made it look like he offed himself, when in reality he's only dying on the inside.
One of these thin babies made to fit the already thinner new iPhone this summer would be sweet.
I wonder what sort of penetration is needed before they'd build one for the incredible.
@Jim J LOL do you really have to say it like that? Yes my mind is in the gutter...it couldn't be helped.
The Mophie takes a bar off my iPhone's reception at times. Doubt if this one is any different.
Anyone have an insight into these batteries/cases? Would I have to take the case off to place it in a dock or is there a pass through docking port on the bottom of these cases?
@rhollister
You can see the dock connector in the photo. Why are you asking this question?
@rhimbu You didn't understand my question. Let me rephrase. If I wanted to sync my phone with the computer, would I have to take the case off or is there a pass through on the bottom of these cases?
@rhollister
it's sopposed to dock the USB that's supplied with it but I couldn't get iTunes to recognize it. Pics transfered with no problem. Case has mini USB most iPhone docks as we know, are not. Upside: the case is Very easy to remove. Good time to wipe it off a little. I have the case and like it but my wife dropped hers once and it broke. The area around volume/mute buttons is thin and apprently frigile. Her case otherwise seems fine. Just don't drop it onto that corner mkay ;)
@SuperModified Yeah the problem is this thing is in two pieces. My previous experiences with two-piece iPhone cases is that if you take them off a lot you slowly loosen the way they attach, and for something this expensive that might be a problem if you plan to use it a lot. I'd probably only use it on trips, so probably no big deal, but for some people...
I wish they'd make one with a matte or grippy back instead of more shiny plastic. Mophie also sells holsters that fit the Juice Packs which is good, and their site works a lot better for me.
@ElectiricWeasel The incase power slider is basically that. Not sure of others' experiences but mine and one friend's have both been positive. Another friend with a mophie (the early uglier design) is on number four rma.

Compared with my M8............ This skin is really gorgeous
I love the Mophie Juice Pack Air. I prefer the added thickness, feels more solid when holding the phone. It may be a tad too thick, though, so this battery pack may feel better.
Batteries are not up to par with cell phones yet, so we compromise. As for docking the iPhone with the pack, the Mophie can't do it (without some extra attatchment?), so I take the case off, which is easy. I deal with it.
