What does the
Vudu HDX version of
Avatar have that
the Blu-ray version doesn't? That's right, special features. Typically you don't get 'em with a digital download, but Vudu figured the release of Avatar is the perfect time to change that forever. We're not exactly sure what features will be available, but at free, they are priced just right. This is yet another sign that Hollywood is warming up to digital delivery -- the first sign was that digital download customers don't have to wait another 28 days like Redbox and Netflix -- and Vudu also reminds us that if you want to stream Avatar in HD it is them or the Playstation as all the other streaming services will only offer the movie in SD -- we don't know about the Playstation service, but
Vudu's HDX certainly qualifies as real HD. Another pictures of the Vudu interface after the jump.
I'm betting the special features won't make the movie suck less.
And they won't make YOU suck any more... You've already reached the zenith of sucking... the mountain peak of suckiness, if you will.
@XciteMe That was kind of mean.
@mr nimblewick
Welcome to the Internet.
But seriously, that was pretty mean.
Pretty mean, that was.
@XciteMe Pretty mean, that was.
(Also, true.)
James Cameron says: "Purchase Avatar on Blu Ray, and Tree of Souls will be pleased"
I wish this movie would just go away.
"Story"? That must be a short special feature.
Hey, Why isn't this story about some new Dell phone or tablet?...
Off topic, sorry, but is anyone else having trouble logging onto Gizmodo?
@RichS Im not, anyone else?
@ Ben Drawbaugh
There was just one picture after the jump, I was expecting "Another *pictures* of the Vudu interface after the jump."
:(
Dude, where are the Dell Articles
When Avatar first came out most people gushed all over it, and calling it the best movie ever. And when anyone said otherwise, they would get burried/flamed.
However now most people talk about how bad the movie was. And if there are any positive comments about it, they are usually along the lines of, "The movie looked great, but the story was bad."
Indeed, I look at it now and wonder how it was ever in the running for Best Picture. It was certainly an exciting movie but the plot was just bobbins. That said, I would like to watch it again but this time without the 3D nonsense getting in the way, which was driving me nuts in the cinema.
Very good application
RamSa ROCK
I can't figure out Vudu....it's so expensive for a movie....who is actually using it.
Cool Visuals, didn't like the political crap
Does the "Story" feature play Dances with Wolves or Pocahontas?
I've had Vudu for nearly a year. I have to admit, it's gotten better on getting more movies (and in the cool HDX format) available on 1st day of release. Of course not all movies are available (Avatar - May) but then number of movies are increasing.
I'm not a big fan of the pricing scheme but understand that I'm paying more $$$ for Blu-ray like quality, unlike the movie rentals from Netflix. Also, once I improved my internet service at the house, it only takes me 4 hours or less to download a HDX movie.
This movie sucked.
