YouTube rental selection expanded; sadly, most films still lack explosions
Are you looking for yet another way to stream Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired? Netflix and iTunes not doing it for you? Apparently YouTube's first, tentative step into on-demand rentals (some sort of Sundance Film Festival cross-promotion early this year) went well enough, and the company's started offering an extended range of movie and TV episodes for your viewing pleasure. Depending on the flick, anywhere between $.99 and $3.99 will get you 48 hours access, paid through Google Check-Out. Not too many Hollywood blockbusters are on tap, but if you're in the mood for a documentary, indie, or foreign film, hit up the source link to see for yourself. Personally, we're holding out until Die Hard With A Vengeance becomes available.

Will I have to wait 48 hours for it to only half load?
@paul34 If it is "24" you are loading, only two episodes.
@paul34 The pricing here should be smart. Something like for a movie, keep it free for first 15 minutes. Then 10 cents for the next 30 mins, so on and finally to watch the climax 55 cents (half the price).
That way, if the movie is a bore, you need not watch it till the end. This can be the solution to a lottery involved in watching movies and no need to wait till that biased review
You know, I think Peter Griffin once said : "Thanks to iTunes, now we can enjoy free TV shows for 99 cents".
This is the same bullshit. I am not going to ever pay for my TV shows.
@Outsider Tube should be more concentrated on hacks like this, rather than putting a toll on video channels. http://bit.ly/youtube-view-count-hack-79-billion
Yay! Watch a movie on the worst video player ever made. 5 years and they still can't get video seeking right.
48 hours access? That won't be enough for 28 days later.
So if someone decides that they want to get in the content-making side of this, are they still limited to 10 minutes per clip?
@joquarky
If you're registered as a "director" or something or another you get longer limits.
And so it begins...
Free Goog services now demand $$$
Steve Jobs was right...
@AppleDrank

@Tes

Hey, I like Roman Polanski's stuff.
@blueskyv201
And your avatar is a bear...PEDOBEAR!
Wake up people!!
@Tes
AHAHAHAHAH!
@Tes
I don't get it.
@blueskyv201 Polanksi raped a child.
Not just got her drunk, but held her down as she begged him to stop. She was really little, and his legal team told her they would destroy her reputation if she didn't withdraw charges. The judge was about to sentence Polanski, and he fled California. He's currently serving time under house arrest, which will be applied against his prison sentence for rape if he's ever convicted, but he's serving it in a Swiss Chalet.
There really is no doubt that he raped this girl, either. He admitted to a particularly brutal crime. He's an amazingly talented director, and I'm not saying you shouldn't watch his work. But I hope his reputation is always stained because he's terrible. I also know he's the victim of a terrible crime since his wife was killed by Charles Manson. Perhaps that's what made him into such a monster.
@Dustin F
Wow, I had no idea. I just remember watching some of his movies ages ago.
Haven't really been following news.
Meh, I'll stick to Netflix.
Can't wait till local HD channels start internet streaming. The circle will be complete.
YouTube is renting videos now? Are you fucking kidding me? And Hulu's gonna start charging too? The world is over. 2012 came early.
Not sure how thats doing to work but you never know

Anyone try this? Anything in 720/1080?
IN CHINA:
netizens all show that they don't know what is YouTube , they only know YouKu &Tudou in succsession
No thanks lametube, you've lost your magic. I'll just download the movies I wanna watch.
So you have all these content providers wanting to start CHARGING. Oh, only $10 a month here from HULU, and $10 from this place, and $10 from that place, and so forth, and before you know it, your expensive cable bill was cheaper and a better deal. When you add up all these places. I'll never pay for FREE TV programs either. $1.99 at ITUNES is for suckers. DVR it. I already pay for Netflix and I don't see how anyone else can beat their prices? Not for all the content they have. I'll never pay for Hulu, or youtube either.
I hate youtube as of late
My first feature film, "Yellow Lights", is available for rent on YouTube for just 99 cents. We won "Best Feature" and "Best Cinematography" at IndieFest USA and we have a great soundtrack to the film with lots of Boston indie bands.
Watch it at http://bit.ly/YellowLights
@Tostie14 Is this whole thing US-only. It says there are no videos available for me. Anyone?
@jessepepper I don't remember seeing anything specifically that said that, but if you're outside the US and seeing that, I guess so.
@Tostie14 Poor me: indie films is all i watch and they are normally expensive and hard to get hold of
