Samsung's 3DTVs now on sale in the U.K.

Say hello to Matt Rajah, the first owner of one of Samsung's new 3DTVs in the U.K. We hope he enjoys watching Monsters vs. Aliens over, and over, and over -- at least until that Sky 3D channel launches at home. Just in case you're wondering what would inspire someone to lay down £1,799 for the UE40 C7000, also take a look at the European version of Samsung's 3D ads, they strike us as a bit more compelling than the stuff they're airing here.

John Lewis sells the first 3D TV

Always first with the latest technology, department store John Lewis today sold the first 3D TV in the UK.

The first happy customer was 28-year-old Matt Rajah, a business consultant from Bethnal Green, who was waiting outside the doors of John Lewis' flagship store on Oxford Street, "I have been waiting for this for a long time, there's lots of exciting 3D content on the way, and it's set to be the TV of the future. It's more money than a normal telly, but I love to buy the latest gadgets and be ahead of my friends."

John Lewis was first to market with this much-anticipated 3D television revolution. The new Samsung UE40 C7000 3D TV, £1,799 will allow customers to experience 3D TV from the comfort of their own homes.
The first 40-inch TV is available from John Lewis' flagship store on Oxford Street, the largest electrical department in Europe, as well as Peter Jones and online – www.johnlewis.com. At the weekend, John Lewis Brent Cross, Bluewater, Kingston and Cribbs Causeway will also have the 3D TVs on display.
John Kempner, buyer for vision at John Lewis says, "3DTV is an incredibly exciting technology, and once again John Lewis is first to market. Manufacturers like to use us as their launch partner because our customers are always early adopters of new technology. We have put together a great value package with everything needed to enjoy 3DTV. It is worth remembering that even though 3DTV content is limited at the moment, this new breed of TV provides fantastic picture quality for regular 2D viewing, so a 3DTV is a great investment purchase."
At launch, John Lewis has the following products available to buy:
Samsung UE40 C7000 3D TV, £1,799
Samsung 3D Blu-ray Player BD C6900 - £349 X 2 Samsung Active Shutter 3D Glasses with 3D Blu-ray Monsters v Aliens disc - £149
